I think players should be able to change the looks of their character, including the gender, whenever they want. Not something I would do, I already grew used to how my character looks, but it feels restrictive to only have a few limited chances to edit him/her.

 

Plus, you could do that in GTA IV Multiplayer, although in an obviously far more limited char editor.

I like how Sunset Overdrive did it - every clothing item is unisex (as well as fitting four different body types), and there's an equivalent male/female face for each preset, so it's possible to literally swap gender and keep everything else the same. Even better, you can do it as easily as swapping outfits, and the dialogue is gender-neutral, so you can change between missions willy-nilly, and NPCs act like it's nothing - you're a hulking white dude in a dress on minute, then a black dudette with a neon-green beard the next. There's something delightfully "what the hell - let's do this!" about that game...

Yeah, because R* hasn't already made the current gen females glitch to look like trannies.

 

I wouldn't wanna look like a gender confused abomination, that ruins the point of playing as a badass in my opinion.

 

....I really, really hope that you don't mean what I think you're equating, in terms of being trans and 'gender confused abominations', because if so, f*cking hell, man...

After the amount of people permanently stuck with glitched facial textures after the 'barbershop bug', or just victims of how the new character-creation system lighting looks markedly-different to how it does in-game, I'd say that's a must, eventually...

I think they should have this included. It really sucked having to restart and make a new character after playing as a female got boring and I wanted to have one resemble me irl.

GTA online. Where gender confused little boys get to fulfill their fantasy of playing as a girl. Seriously though. We knew when we made our character that we were not going to be able to change them. Deal with it. Also, know that when we see a female character online we know that:

 

1 most likely the player is male

2 it's some squeaker who thinks his bitch is sexy and knows that's the only girl he's getting any action from.

3 is unsecure enough in his sexuality that he thinks playing with a male character would make him gay, even though he is really only bi-curious.

or

may be the 1 in 20 who is actually a female, although any experienced girl gamer would have hidden the fact that she was female by making a male character to avoid having all the little wankers hitting on her every time she plays.

What's the point tho? I mean some could argue they want to have the option to update their characters (IE plastic surgery) but why a sex change specifically?

I remember in TDU 2 are charecters could get plastic surgery. Not cheap but its a cool idea.

Quite the opposite: you're insecure enough in your sexuality to be able to identify with the opposite sex and be comfortable with playing as a woman. If I see a bikini-clad female char with tattoos all over her body I know it's a squeaker that fits your description perfectly, but don't say every guy playing as a woman is like that.

No NomadRider is correct most of the time they are like that. All my REAL female friends on GTA online can't stand it when dudes play as females
