Bozza
Hey all, It has been a long time since I have looked at gta modding. It is great to see this particular community alive and kicking! What is currently possible on the mobile versions and what is not? What are the major differences to the pc and console versions? From what I have gathered in this forum the mobile versions are pretty much the same as the PC games. The mobile versions use compressed assets from the pc/Xbox/ps2 games. Like in gta stories the RenderWare APIs aren't used but instead the game relies on something called Rockstar Leeds 3D (RSL3D). I have read somewhere that R* couldn't use RenderWare in their new releases due to license expiration. Is RSL3D an issue to modding? Possibly it is just a reverse engineered RenderWare? Some small differences like the player skins being imported exist from what I read. I would appreciate it greatly if someone could tell us more about all the changes. Do you guys think it will be possible to mod the executables in the future? I take it mods like GTA SOL or GTA multiplayer mods will not work on jail broken/rooted mobile devices? What is needed for an exe hack? decompilers, debuggers and hex editors? Maybe we can get a separate sub forum for GTA Mobile Modding now that these games are relevant again? Looking forward to all the replies! It is great to be part of this forum!
