Reporting players

How do you do it? I've only tried about twice in all my time of playing the game (since shortly after GTA:O actually launched) and both times it just froze the game, to the point where I had to restart the console.

 

It's rather funny, though. One would almost think that Rockstar doesn't want people reporting cheaters.

Anyway. Felt like it was time when I got into a public session and some kid sent a text with profanity telling (not even asking) me to pick him up. Replied that he should learn to speak proper English and to ask politely. Followed that up by sending a mugger after him and going to watch him on the TV in my garage, though the mugging was successful I didn't see that happen, but I did see him near the helipad in the city standing underwater.

 

Clearly his poorly executed strategy was to get me near him so he could get an easy bounty kill.

 

Look, I don't mind people going about their business. I've even stopped caring about glitchers and modders who don't harm or mess with other players. But glitching like that to get an edge over others should not be possible or tolerated.

Is there an alternative way of reporting players? And is it any use? I can't record GTA V gameplay and I strongly doubt all players are being recorded by either Rockstar or Sony all the time so they can go through some sort of video archive to find evidence.

Problem with the report system is it's automated R* doesn't look at sh*t. But if you get a certain amount of reports, and vote to kicks in a short period of time, you can become a dodgy player, and it doesn't take much to go to the dunce pool after that. That is why I usually avoid lobbies with 10 or more crew members in it, because some like to report people for the sake of trying to troll them into bad sport.

Perhaps you didn't read my actual post. The whole game works fine for me, but attempting to report someone results in the console freezing. I might be able to still hear mics (despite having chat set to crew and friends only, go figure) but I can't do anything else.

 

Maybe this is just something that my PS3 has issues with. Anyone else experiencing this?

I've reported players successfully on ps3 with no freezing.

 

Not sure if social club has a report feature...

i have reported like 2 people and that was early in gtao...

 

i dont even bother to report people now.

 

the process is automated, certain amoun in a short time would get you a dodgy status and a message would popup lettin you know that "youre now bring monitored"

 

i know, i have received that popup way too many times.

Probably just my PS3 getting old, then. Guess I'll just stick to the tried and true method of avoiding cheaters rather than trying to do something about it. As is normal nowadays!

OP, you can try reporting a player via email at [email protected]. I wouldn't bother though; their support staff are as thick as sh*t.

As others have said the report feature is just automated and you will never be banned from this, at worse you'll be in bad sport for a few days, it takes a ton of reports now anyway.

 

The best way is to email the rockstar banhammer, you email them explaining the platform, player id that's cheating, time/date, description of what they did and attach video evidence.

the first email you send you get an automated reply, you need to reply to that to continue and then you will be emailed by an employee.

 

I've only ever done this once but on ps4 its easy just hit share and upload to youtube then link that video in the email.

 

I believe this is the only way you can actually get someone banned but you need clear video evidence showing their PSN ID.

Even though cockstar introduced them I feel like reporting players using bulletproof helmets ,WTF were they thinking they should be banned , along with people who get more than a slight advantage wearing them

I did manage to get one kid banned over the summer after every other word out of his mouth was...F*g, Fa**ot, Gay, Ni**er he couldn't have been more than 12 and he would make a World War II Sailor blush and a week or go before school i started i get this message from him.

OP, I used to have the exact same problem you are describing in that any-time I used the Report Function it either significantly Lagged or my console (PS3) Hard Froze...Honestly I just gave up bothering to report anyone on PS3 and on PS4 I have not had the need to so far.

 

It really is nice being on a console that people can not use custom Scripts *yet.

Sounds like you need a ps4

For this, I guess I would. But that upgrade is not worth the money.

Same game, some improvements, new console that can't play any of my PS3 games.

 

If I was rich I would've done it already, ignoring my dislike of Rockstar's behaviour, but for now it's about 450 euro's better spent on something significantly more important in my life.

Same here on PS3. Freezes up the system. Not even worth it.

I had issues with my PS3 occasionally freezing when reporting people. As far as I know there is no fix, so I stopped reporting people altogether because it doesn't seem to do anything anyway.

Ive reported 2 guys for "afking races" as my report reason. They start a race, and just SIT on the start line the ENTIRE race, just sitting there to get last place payouts for doing nothing. Another afkd a Capture last night, reported him too. But it did allow me to test my new tank based capture up against the AI soldiers guarding the fort with just me vs 4 accurate respawning AI guards. I got killed a lot, but was able to score 4/4 points needed in 21 min of 30, if I timed their deaths just right and took the right escape route before getting gunned down.

What does it bother you if they're afk in a race? You get more $ when there are more people. And how much would they make? Like $600? It's not like they're not they're in a coop mission not helping.

Been a problem on PS3 for months now. Dunno if that will get fixed anytime soon
