Did anyone had problem with driving after playing GTA V?

Sorry to grave-dig this topic but I didn't want to make a new one if there was a (sort of) recent one.

Anyway, I'm diving back into TBoGT and LatD and holy hell is it hard to drive after playing GTA V for so long! I'm hitting EVERYTHING, skidding through corners, braking seems like it takes forever. Plus the city seems more enclosed.

Hehe if you think braking takes forever, you should see how it is in the Realistic Driving mod  Gotta brake really early!

Or using Sgt. Kanyo's Handling Lines for Modded Police/Emergency Vehicles. :)

I find IV's driving natural, even the 3D Era. I find that I can switch between the 3D Era, IV Trilogy and CW pretty well. But without playing V for months and then going back to V, THAT is where I have a problem. It's the opposite way around for me. Going from V to previous titles is easier. Going from previous titles back to V is the hard part in my case. But still, after 2-3 days or V, I am used to it again.

Took me a while. Started playing IV back in June and then I played IV and V back to back. Only now I'm having some extreme fun with IV's physics after getting used to them. Cruising is ultimate fun again and so is driving like a maniac. One thing I like about V is the cruising but driving fast in V just sucks. It does. It's not fun, it's so anticlimactic and boring that I could use it as my cure to insomnia. I'm not exaggerating. The physics in V are fun when you take it at a slower pace but if you speed it just feels daft and boring and oh man does it look so god awful and fake. But in IV, oh my god. I just went on a police chase rampage in my Super GT and it was so much fun. So much god damn fun. I never, and probably never will, have that much fun being chased and driving fast, barreling down narrow streets in V. The way it feels, you feel everything when you whip a car like the Super GT around some corners whilst being chased, speeding down narrow streets and alleys and trying not to hit anything. It's thrilling. In V, I never feel that sense of thrill. Only when I test out a car for the first time on a freeway and overtake drivers do I feel a sense of thrill, but it's small. It's weird. I like the cruising in V but that's pretty much it. Really says a lot, doesn't it?

But yeah, it took me a while but I'm having lots of fun with IV again.

Also, there is no Rubber-Banding present in IV. I can imagine that would improve the chases in IV as well. :)

Yeah I hate the rubber banding in V. It just kills the fun. Driving a sports car and being outrun by a sh*tty American squad car? Seriously? And when they ram you, you are going to spin out no matter what you drive. I also love the wanted circle in IV, I just wish it went away after about 2 minutes of not being seen by the cops.

I really love the chases in IV, I can't believe that I don't even bother with the cops in V. They're so annoying, it's never really fun to be chased by them. It's just aggravating. I know it's supposed to be challenging but they took it too far. There's a fun type of challenging and then there's an irritating type of challenging. The cops in V almost remind me of those horrid cops from Test Drive Unlimited 1. So bad.

That rubber banding in V is nowhere as bad as Version 1.00 on PS3/360. Even the Police Mavericks spawning is different on 1.00 compared to the current 1.25. I am driving an Insurgent Pickup with Franklin for instance and if a cop does decide to bump me, I activate F's Special, which will NOT make you spin out and swerve. Furthermore, I barrel through the road blocks in V and on 3+ stars there is spike strips. The cops behind me, once they hit those spikes spin out and blow up when running into something and can't even keep up. I am not even driving a Super Car fully modded in Los Santos Customs. I am driving an Off-Road Vehicle which at best can get Limo Tints and Xenon Lights. No other mods can be applied to that Vehicle. But yeah, no lie. The Cops aren't the same like they were on 1.00. On 1.00, there is no such thing as escaping without going underground. On 1.25, I've escaped a handful of times above ground, just off roading and such and driving anywhere I do NOT see the cones of vision.

Also, to avoid the rubber banding, as the cop creeps up on you, if you just turn left or right a bit, it will slow down and it WON'T bump you. I've had my fair share of FUN police chases in V the past few weeks thanks to the Save Editor and I also make my Vehicles indestructible, too. The only thing I HATE about V and it exists on every Version is 4 and 5 stars where you got these goof NOOSE guys hanging off a Vehicle in that I can collide head on to, yet, they are STILL hanging on AND shooting me while their Vehicle is on 2 wheels about to flip over. It's not the Cops which I mind, it's the NOOSE and they are only seen on 4 and 5 stars. They can even shoot me in a Tank...How? It can happen, though. They can even shoot me in the Armored Kuruma with the indestructible properties checked off with the Save Editor. THEY make no f*cking sense. But the regular cops at 1, 2, 3 stars I can safely say I don't mind anymore in V. If and only if I was playing on 1.00, I could agree with what is said above. I've shared the exact same opinions regarding the cops in V since its release, but I can't say that anymore cuz there is MAJOR difference between 1.00 and 1.25.

So cars exploding while landing sideways or upside down is realistic? Flipping cars over while still inside is realistic?

I think first person driving looks like a f*cking green screen car thing in V, like the type you see in sh*tty sitcoms.

Tbh, I think I'd drive WORSE if I used First Person. My camera view is always zoomed out pretty far so I can see not only my car, but ALL sides of the roads and and everything around me. When I see First Person on Youtube, I get dizzy, literally and I only see what's in front of the guys driving, nothing to the sides or anything. As I said somewhere in other Topics, I'd probably never use that if I got Next Gen...

I wonder if any of the testers for GTA 5 tried to say the driving was better in 4. I know I would of said something. Like maybe keep the GTA 4 driving and scratch the midnight club integration thing.

When V first came out I remember a lot of people saying IV had "boat physics." Maybe a little before too? I only really felt it after playing V, and I've played quite a few driving games during IV and never had a problem. Maybe there's a memetic virus in V which, when you're exposed to it, makes you hate IV's driving? ;)

Midnight Club LA's cockpit mode ruined first-person modes in most other games for me. If first-person mode doesn't have the camera inside the player's head with a detailed cockpit with its own physics, I really can't enjoy it. Unlike V making me dislike IV's driving, this one's a permanent feeling, and about every game.

Yeah I do. mainly with braking and turning. I'll start to brake but I still end up crashing head first into a building and when I try to turn around a corner I'll end up on the side walk. it doesn't take me long to readjust to the IV controls though.

Mind expanding on why you like the chases in IV? I know they're the best in the series when compared to the awful chases before and after, but I wouldn't say they're good. They're very easy, and cops seem to travel at impossible speeds and materialize out of random streets when needed to heat things up, which is only a little bit not like rubberbanding.

To me a good cop chase would rely on a solid presence (no transporting, materializing or disappearing), decent individual cop AI that knows where to go and where things are and doesn't give up, planning between the cops (ie: blocking off areas that the player will likely go through ((not just bridges)), sweeping parallel streets), and well-performing vehicles designed to deal with fast dudes. Nothing's come close to this yet, but I'm convinced they have the technology to. Also, these would be genuinely difficult just by the inclusion of real tactics, so the player would have to get good at it. At least it isn't fake difficulty that you have to cheese to win.

OT:

That depends on how long have you been playing V without playing IV in the meantime. If you were playing GTA V for a few months period without touching IV then you can bet you will have some problems to adjust to the IV`s driving mechanics. But you`ll again get adjusted quite soon.

It only took me 3 hrs of playing IV to master it`s driving again after i`ve been playing V for a month or so.

But personally i don`t have any problems with IV`s driving no matter how long i`ve been playing V. Because i`ve spent so many hours driving in IV it`s almost impossible to forget it`s mechanics.

However i do have problems with IV`s bike driving after some time playing V. Even tho i prefer IV`s car driving to V and i strongly prefer GTA IV to V in general, i must admit i dislike IV`s bike handling. I try to avoid driving bikes in IV unless it`s necessary for the progress.

But the car driving in IV is awesome.

Didn't have any problems in IV, however major problems when going back to SA. Either I was hitting the kerb or the car in the other lane while cornering, or overshooting a place while braking, or always catching some air while speeding. One hell of a time to adjust.

I also agree though, driving in IV is better than V.

Am I the only one who actually likes the bike physics in GTA IV? I've never ridden a bike before so I can't say that they're "realistic", but I don't think they're that bad. It took me a while to get used to them, but every now and then I like to use a PCJ600 for racing.

IMO games like Sleeping Dogs, Watch Dogs, JC2 etc have worse bike physics than GTA IV. GTA V's are ok, but like most cars the lack of suspension makes them feel a bit dull.

Eh. The bike physics in GTA IV aren't bad and can be fun at times, but they can be frustrating at times. Some bikes like to understeer a lot and sometimes the bikes that gave the impression of being agile didn't live up to said impression, at least to me to some extent. Still, the bikes can be fun to use.

And PulpFiction brings up a good point. Bike physics in Sleeping Dogs does have worse bike physics than GTA IV. I did a bike race in the game once and it was a complete clusterf*ck, lol.

I like them. I´ve ridden a bike irl and can´t say they´re very realistic, but after I got used to them, I´m having a lot of fun driving bikes in IV, even though it takes time to get a decent biker in IV.

It´s easier in TLaD with the dumbed down bike physics and Johnny being glued to his bikes.

I don't mind the Bike Physics either. However, I must admit, getting on one after playing other GTA's takes a good 20-30 minutes to get used to them again, but NOT Cars or Trucks. Those are easy to drive and always will be.
