How does the weather affect your mood?

Fairly simple question, but I thought the answers would be interesting. Does the weather influence the things you do, the music you listen to, the way you feel and such? For example, it's been raining quite consistently here and I find that it leaves me in a nostalgic mood, makes me want to watch noir movies and listen to John Coltrane or just sit at home reading or playing.

I'd like to read about your experiences with this. :)

It does actually. I find I'm more active and lively when it rains. I could say the same about when it gets dark. When it's sunny just right, it reminds me of my old days. I guess nostalgia has a lot to do with it in my case.

I very much enjoy rainy days; the sound of the droplets splashing against window panes and the lower lighting conditions produce a relaxing atmosphere. Snow is also very enjoyable for me.

Snow is awesome, but it never snows in my town. As far as I remember, it's only snowed once... Still, nothing beats those rainy days spent reading near the window and just watching the day go by :) BTW, nice avatar! Hitchens was the man.

I dont care about the weather i dont have a life I sit behind my PC all day :D

Still, doesn't it affect the things you do on the PC? The music you listen to, for example?

I really hate when the sky turns all gray.

I can't explain why to be honest, but it just feels so depressive.

it's hard to explain my patterns based on what it's like outside since it's not something i really take note of

though i like being outside when it's cloudy more than when the sun is out for some reason

thinking about it now i listen to a lot more music when it's cloudy/dark outside than when it's clear.

It's always raining. It's dark and it's raining. It discourages social interaction because you're just running from car to building etc. It's just sad and depressing. Can't wait for summer. I'm going to drink a lot of beer, grill a lot of burgers, smoke a lot of cigars, and play a lot of jazz.

That sounds pretty good, man! And yeah, the annoying thing about rain is that you're always running from one place to another. Just yesterday, I had a really long break at school and went out to get some coffee. As soon as I finished drinking it, *loud thunder*. Still, it was pretty good because we were inside this Grab & Go. Getting back to school was a bit worse, though... :/

Oh yeah.... When its cold im a happy camper with a hoody or leather jacket on. Cold keeps me relaxed.

When its hot, i get irritated by everything and sometimes feel like i NEED to drop-kick a puppy or kitten.

Thats why i love the central coast of cali, its always sunny, weather stays between 65-75 throughout the day with a nice oceanbreeze to keep you from abusing animals. :)

I used to absolutely loathe cloudy weather up until relatively recently. Cloudy weather used to make me sad. Now I just see it as an opportunity to enjoy the beauty of such days. It's a great excuse to go out to some coffee shop and order a hot latte.

I try to enjoy all days. You shouldn't let the weather influence how good or bad your day is. Even the rain should make you feel good. Personally, I see the rain as perfect tone-setting for a cozy day or night.

I love grey skies and rainy days(only when I'm indoors though), I also like clear blue days without any clouds in sight. I very much dislike bright sunny days unless it's cold or if there's a nice breeze.

Cold weather really makes old injuries in my back, knees and hips hurt like hell when it gets really cold and when it rains.

Ever heard of seasonal affective disorder? It's a bitch every winter.

To be honest, that was one of the reasons I started this thread :p I was thinking about it yesterday morning when I found a suitable spot to watch the rain, and kept wondering how other people felt about this.

Sunny weather is really the only thing that doesn't make me feel worse. Unless it's snowing and I want more snow for snowmobiling, then snow makes me happy XD. Otherwise any kind of dark weather only makes me feel lonely. I have mixed feelings about thunderstorms since I like watching them, but every time I end up wishing I had someone to watch them with. Same goes for any other weather really, but to a lesser extent.

Gnocchi Flip Flops
  • Drizzle - Nostalgia. I get a relaxed feeling when it's just drizzling away outside. Usually listen to calming music, sometimes 80's music.
  • Rain - Same as above.
  • Storming - Intrigued, always looking out the window and anticipating the thunder.
  • Overcast and cold - Nostalgia. Usually don't want to do anything these days and don't listen to much music.
  • Overcast and humid - Reminds me of the summer of 2013 where this happened a lot, usually accompanied by a storm too.
  • Mostly sunny - Very good mood and want to be outside all day. Being stuck in the house on these days puts me in a sh*t mood though.
  • Clear skies - Same as above.

Rainy nights are my favorite. No storms, just constant rain or drizzle. It's relaxing.

Violent Storms evoke a sense of comfort in my mind. It's soothing to know that my mind isn't the only thing being destroyed.

Grey weather depresses me, absolutely hate it, storms excite me and make me feel cozy and very comfortable (when with company) for some reason, sunny weather is great and keeps me in a continual state of happiness depending on the location and wether or not I'm close enough to an air-conditioned space.

I think we should just love weather for what it is at that precise moment. I mean, weather doesn't pay attention to criticism either you like it or not. So, why would you get mad at something that doesn't depend on you?

However, yes, weather does affect my mood sometimes, but in a positive way. When it rains, I like to contemplate the panorama from the window, drinking hot coffee, and listening to some nostalgic songs by Cat Power. When it's a sunny day, I usually hang out with my friends on the seafront. Anyway, most of the time it simply depends on how I feel regardless of weather.

Snowy and rainy makes me very happy.

Dry and hot leaves me meh.

Humid and hot really irritates me.

Cold makes me happy.

Luckily we never experience humid and hot here. But when I went to India in Summer *shudders*
