I've bitten the bullet and bought;

Intel i5 -4690 3.50GHz S1150 6MB

Asus Z97-K DDR3 ATX motherboard

to upgrade my old Q6600 rig.

I have a Geforce GTX760 and w7 64-bit.

Now I find my RAM doesn't fit (physically, as they've moved the notch), so is it worth getting 16GB DDR3 (I fancy Kingston) or is 8GB sufficient?

And should I go for 2133MHz or 1600MHz on an otherwise identical package?

Advice much appreciated!

OKAY so this is a PRETTY BIG stretch but do you guys think this game might run on:

Intel core i5 3380M

Intel HD 4000

8 GB ram

1366x768 resolution

Like do you think there is any chance at all, even a slim one

Playable? Well, if 1-10 FPS is playable for you go ahead....

Going for Ultra... yay or nay? I think yay.

Laptop:

CPU: i7-4810mq 2.8 to 3.8ghz

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport (CL9) 16GB DDR3-1600

GPU: Geforce GTX 860m 2gb

Windows 7 64bit.

I can run FSX on all high settings with some addons at around 30fps and that's a very CPU intensive game, so hopefully I won't be struggling in the slightest.

Nay. GTX 860M is roughly comparable to desktop GTX 750 Ti, so medium-high.

a lot of bottlenecking ,fx6300 is the best paired with r9 280 (even r9 280x req. oc to 4.2ghz)

Laptop:

FSX and GTA V are very different games.

All depend of the GTX860M version.
There are two GTX 860M at nvidia :/

The GTX 860M "A": Kepler (GK104), comparable to a GTX 660
And the GTX 860M "B": Maxwell (GM107), Comparable to a GTX 750ti.

The GTX 660-860M (GK104) is better (performance) than the 750-750ti.
But, the Maxwell 750-860M(GM107) is better about energy consumption (so it may be more interesting on a laptop).

So, the first GTX 860M "A" (GTX 660), match with the recommended specifications from Rockstar ==> (in theory) High, 1080p 40FPS,
And the second GTX 860M "B" allows to play GTA V on medium-high (max), 1080p 30-40 FPS.

The GT 720M (and the GT 710M) is very very low.
These cards use a GF (Fermi) likely near of nvidia GT 430 or GT 440.

And, your CPU is a 2 cores, it isn't enough to start GTA V.

Even if you can upgrade your CPU (to a quad core), with this graphic card, GTA V would be at max: Low 768p 10-20FPS.

And for your second PC, it's ok for GTA V but in Medium (Medium-high maybe) 1080p, because i think you will be CPU limited!

Your GPU is ok, Radeon HD7870 = R9 270 = GTX 580 = GTX 660 (recommended by rockstar).

Get 16 GB. And yes you should've known before you bought the motherboard that it only supports DDR3. The Q6600 socket uses DDR2 which is Flintstone tech by now.

As for RAM speed I hear it can benefit game performance to some degree. I have the usual 1600Mhz and I have no complaints when it comes to performance, so that really depends on you.

Hey guys. I know the GT750m has been mentioned before, and I have one in my laptop. However, the rest of the specs are quite good.

GT750m 2GB DDR5

i7 4510MQ 3.1GHz

16GB DDR3 RAM

I'd be fine if it would be at low settings at 25-30FPS (about the FPS as the Xbox One and PS4). I can run BF4 Hardline at high with a very smooth 45-60FPS and BF3/4 at ultra 40+ FPS. A reply would be greatly appreciated. If not, I may just buy an external GPU like GTX 750 ti.

AMD Radeon R9 900 2.1gb VRAM

16 GB RAM

AMD FX-6300 6 core

the only thing it says that I'm deficient in is processor... are those 2 less cores gonna make a difference?

if you ment r9 290 im pretty sure fx6300 will bottleneck
I have fx6300 and i can only run r9 280 without oc cpu

oops, I meant 200 series

Yes agree with SuperSaiyanHazza.

You'll be CPU limited (Bottleneck), but i think you could play GTA V on 1080p/High/+40FPS (or at worst to Medium-High/+40FPS).

Depending of your power supply (PSU), you can try to OC your FX to get better performances (maybe you'll be able to play GTAV on 1080p/High/60FPS, maybe 1080p/ultra/30FPS).

But you should also consider an CPU upgrade.

I saw your other comment about the GTX 745.

A GTX 660 vs GTX 745, ho yes, the GTX 660 is better (ingame).

On the paper, the 745 is (like the 750) a first generation of Maxwell gpu, and seems very nice. But ingames, the 745-750-750ti are far behind the GTX 660.

Performances order: 750 < 745 < 750ti < GTX 660

And, this 745 is made for MiniPC or Small tower (because this card is low profile and low power usage 55W, with a 300W PSU) with a budget (approx) of 400€/$500.... or in/with "Branded computers" (HP, Dell, Packard Bell for examples...) sold in large store (major local retailers) for 800-900$/ like a "gaming computer" (which is wrong .... and not worth more than 600€).

This 745 is more recent than the 750. And there are two 745:

- The GTX 745 2GB, good for a "small" desktop computer: internet, video (watch/streaming), "small & causal games", light multimedias.

- and the GTX 745 4GB, good for a "media center/HTPC": same as above and for a dual screens: connect a monitor (to use your OS) and 4K TV screen to watch your "DivX" movie or (internet streaming) VoD for example...).

For "Gaming", this card (2GB or 4GB) may be interesting for a "SteamBox" or with a Linux distro (like debian + Wine + PlayOnLinux + Natives Linux games, or with SteamOS/Steamplay)... but GTA V wouldn't be on Linux (unlikely), rockstar prefer to develop games for Consoles....... PC and..... Phones with Android & iOS...

With this rig, i5-4460 + GTX 660, all will be fine, it match with the recommended specs by rockstar.

So in theory*, you'll be able to play GTA V @1080p, High 60FPS.

*I decline any responsibility if the game will really run in medium/40 fps only! ... Go complain to Rockstar lol.. but serioulsy, i think it will be ok for at least "1080p/High/40FPS".

wtf??? Did you even install the drivers?? You can easily run 1920x1080 ultra and 60 fps on dying light with those specs.

and about gta. I think high/ultra 50/60 fps
