Edit : There is no such thing as r7 256a.

I think u meant r7 265.

Going for Ultra... yay or nay? I think yay.

 

Laptop:

CPU: i7-4810mq 2.8 to 3.8ghz
RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport (CL9) 16GB DDR3-1600
GPU: Geforce GTX 860m 2gb

Windows 7 64bit.

I can run FSX on all high settings with some addons at around 30fps and that's a very CPU intensive game, so hopefully I won't be struggling in the slightest.

I'm hopping to run it 50fps in medium settings and 1366x768 resolution. I know that my specs are almost recommended specs, but I know my PC and I know that playing high settings could make me lose lots of fps.

Huh? I don't play Battlefield, but when I did have Battlefield 4 installed - which isn't a well optimised game - I could run all settings at the highest possible (ultra) at around 35fps (1080p). The "recommended" requirements are practically identical.

I think Ultra settings for GTA V will be somewhat higher, but your current specs are better than medium requirements.

R9 280X is a re-branded 7970, wich is the equivalent of the 680/770.

And the 770 is a buffed-up 680 and is slightly faster than the 680.

126 GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD GTA 5 dedicated.

 

A AMD CPU with NVidia GPU. Will it work? And is Windows 8 advised?
