Suggestion for the piracy problem

cross platform release for a start. No re-release BS double and triple dipping.
Honesty from devs and publishers.
Games that arent completely screwed because they were released a month early.
No day 1 DLC
No ultimate mega cash drop editions

You could come up with excuses all day but the facts are people that torrent everything will torrent everything no matter what. I only torrent now and then and I dont even like doing it. I firmly believe that if you like something enough then you should support it if you can. But sh*t publishers are making it hard to throw support to decent devs these days

The game uses denuvo anti tamper if the rumors are to be believe, aka no first week or maybe even second week crack for the game, keep that in mind. With that said GTA V will be massively bought because of a) respect for the game and b) GTA online

I honestly dont understand how anyone over the age of 10 can respect a company that has lied right to our face for the last 2 years.....

Stop piracy? Ask the devs to charge less for their bullsh*t unoptimized piece of garbage.

This post right here is the biggest problem with PC gaming. An owner of crap hardware crying about games being unoptimized.

How can anyone expect V to run on medium settings with the specs in your signature? A Dual Core E5700 3.00Ghz with 4 GB RAM...seriously bro?

Nobody with specs like that intends to purchase a game.

I am happy even if I am able to run the game. And I know what's my PC is capable of. You don't need to enlighten me. The biggest problem of PC gaming is ELITISTS. Those people complain and whine when they don't get 60fps. It's elitists which makes PC gamers look bad. And you're talking about my PC? Even a monster rig can't run Unity for sh*t at more than 40fps. This says it all.

Obviously pirates won't be able to use GTA: Online.

Singleplayer will be cracked no matter what DRM is used.

Solution? What Gomes_andres said and lower prices. No one in right mind here in Slovenia would pay 78€ for digital game. No one. Then they cry why so many pirates...

First of all in europe games are pretty expensive ,if they had honorable prices. Not to be ported from ps4,xbox one ,because the system requirments are high.i m not complaining about it but they should choose the system requirments for all kind of gamers ,not for people who can afford expensive pc .

The best way to combat piracy is to simply make better games, and the best DRM is no DRM.

Indeed. AC Brotherhood, cracked from day 1, has sold hundreds of times bteer than HAWX2 and Shaun White Skateboarding which were protected for a year.

It's all about the game.

Quite frankly, the games that tend to get pirated the most are the ones with a lot of DRM because people don't want to pay $60 and have to have to deal with it.

No, games that get pirated the most are those that offer bad value on the dollar. for example some 6hr low budg licensed spider man game that costs 50 eur

exactly, people buy the quality games, the ones you can play for years.

people don't buy the sh*t ones, that last a few hours for the entire play through, have nothing cool to unlock, have awful or no multi player. no point purchasing something that's useless.

it would be like buying a pencil that is already sharpened down to less than half the length of a fresh one has no graphite in it. absolutely pointless.

replay value is what makes a game worth buying. games where you just play through and then uninstall are not worth it.

trouble is there are a lot of open world games that suck and have no replay value.

like;

no being able to double back to previous areas because these areas only appeared in intro part of game and can't be returned to.

being told to turn round because you have entered an area you can't explore yet because the game wants you play some boring mission first and then it re-spawns you, spawns something to attack you or kills you.

returning to previous area in a game only to find they are devoid of all life.

can't reach previous areas or areas clearly reachable because for some reason the game has invisible walls or says the area is full of radiation or some bullcrap

forced to follow a linear path in an open world game, what sorcery is this?

I sign under each word, except for multiplayer part! Multiplayer takes a lot of development time (as practice shows) and it affects the quality and length of single player experience!...In my opinion multiplayer and singleplayer components should be developed separately one from another! Like spread developing team in two, let one handle sp and another - mp and the problem will be fixed!

Haha focus on China, hmm thats why China can buy the game for 29$ on steam;)

The problem is is to steep price for games that are 1-2 year old. This game is 59 euro, the price tag should be more like 20 euro or less.

Cutter De Blanc

I pirated some games back when I had a PC. Why? Because I wanted to play them. Would I have just gone out and bought them if I could? No, probably not. f*ck buying things.

This was my mentality, and I'm sure other pirates feel the same way. There's no deep-seeded rationale, it's just "Do want. Can get for free. Will get for free."

As long as there's a way to do it, people still will. :/

So Cutter, since it equal easy to pirate with a console.

And since I assume you have one, since you say "when I had a PC" you are pirating now also?

I don't know how to pirate with a console and don't care to learn. What illegal activities I personally do or do not engage in are also not the subject of this discussion except to provide a point of view.

But you said "As long as there's a way to do it, people still will." SO WHAT THE f*ck? You just proved (to yourself...) that NOT ALL PEOPLE are the same and won't pirate it just because they can. People these days...

And when you had PC you were pirate and now because you have console you don't dare nor care? WTF?

Need more PC exclusives... and ofcourse good DRMs.

Piracy can't be wiped out... But it can be reduced.

Its time that the devs. should now pay a little more attention on PC.

Remember, only the pissed off ones pirate the game. :p

More PC exclusives? Thousands of games are exclusive to PC (well, vast majority of them are indies, while console exclusives are usually AAA).

I didn't say all people will do it. People who are so inclined still will.

I would pirate GTAV for PC if I was able to, and didn't already own it on PS4.

Well actually I think piracy has lowered considerably with the fall of the pirate bay.

The latest AAA haven't been cracked yet. And I am talking about AAA that came out since September...

Some examples: FIFA 15, The Crew, PES 15, Far Cry 4 (for what I have heard) it is poorly cracked, SIMS 4 and so on

If they are cracked sorry for the misleading post but I didn't find them so it is actually a good thing for us PC gamers who are not pirates ;)

BF4 did it right. Make some multiplayer code only available on secure rented servers. That way no one can run cracked MP so they'll miss half the game by pirating it.

Either way, the clusterf*ck of hacking that will likely occur on cracked MP will probably be enough to encourage others to buy the game. This will be a key selling point -- if legit MP is a hackfest new players will see no reason to buy the game.

Also, finding new patches and cracks for those patches and servers with those patches isn't worth anyone's time if they make even a meager living.

I don't know, but maybe the producers of these goods should treat their customers with respect?

"Piracy is almost always a service problem and not a pricing problem. For example, if a pirate offers a product anywhere in the world, 24/7, purchasable from the convenience of your personal computer, and the legal provider says the product is region-locked, will come to your country three months after the U.S. release and can only be purchased at a brick and mortar store, then the pirate's service is more valuable."

your right about mp should be done separately, something dice failed at 4 times so far. remember when battlefield multiplayer only? sure it offline play but it was just the mp with bots.

but it didn't have play once piece of crap campaign.

bad companys campaigns were awful and full bad humor and unlikable characters, not to mention linear routes and generic fights. basically just drive to smoke, shoot stuff, drive to smoke and repeat.

got worse in battlefield 3 with it's flashback ridden cinematic annoying buggy campaign, went even further with bf4, mr bay would be proud, not a game but an action movie with QTE's. (but not a good one)

multiplayer was just a pasted in addon and it shows with heaps of rubbish dlc to hide the fail.

i hope gta v has a good single player but a great online package.

Some just don't get that "lousy ports" are not the main reason why piracy exists. Its just people that don't wanna pay for stuff and wants to "own" it.

Exactly.

That method has been tried and proven successful multiple times most recently by CD Projekt RED.

The Witcher 2 and 3 are completely DRM free if purchased from GOG.com

CD Projekt RED doesn't stick us with sh*t console ports because they are PC devs.

Without steam i'd be f*ked to be honest. There is no solution to piracy, rather ways you look at it. If someone is pirating a game and that option is taken away are they likely to fork out $60 or £40 for the game? I'd say it's not even a loss of earnings because very little would of them would have interest in it if they had to pay the RRP.

A lot of people that pirate games will have legit copies of games which they would genuinely want to play.

FIFA15 hasnt been cracked and won't be

The Crew is a Constant-Online Game , No Interests and no point of cracking it

PES 15 is cracked.

Far Cry 4 is cracked.

Dragon Age Inquisiton managed to get cracked too

Sims 4? lol.

There is no point for Anti-Tamper although it has been denied by Denuvo that it will be in GTAV.

No Protectionsystem can hold forever. Developers must focus on their customers and not implement heavy DRM & securitysystems for everyone.

People piracy because 1. They want to test the game before they buy it (like demos) 2. Don't support the Devs but they want to play the game. 3. no Money. I can understand why people crack games like AC:Unity. If i bought it i'd be pissed. I know piracy is bad but in the current situation with Devs and Publishers f*** us around. I can understand some of the people who pirate

If you want games to be released for PC in time then I suggest that you all buy the game at its regular price and not rely on steam sales and such, that's why the PC platform isn't very attractive to companies like Rockstar. Rockstar is one of the few studios left that still makes high quality titles and they are the only reason why I still care about gaming.

Here's the thing, and it's just my opinion. :p

If a company wants me to pay for they product they need first and foremost to treat me with respect, and make sure i feel treated with respect (not necessarily the same thing, R* fails miserably at the latter) and not like a second class consumer. Then, they to earn my trust, not the other way around. If i want to buy a washing machine i don't need to beg to the guy at the shop or the manufacturer, they are the ones making money out of the trade, so work for it. There are many other games on the market, I don't have to do anything other than decide what to buy at what price. If they don't want to sell at the price i'm willing to pay there's no deal, i'll take my money elsewhere. That's not hurting the industry, it's supply and demand.

The only reason a company like Rockstar does this is because they get away with it. They make more money this way because they know how popular GTA is: it's one of the best selling video games/franchises in video game history. Many other companies would do the same if they could ("You want me to sell you the same thing 3 times? Well sure if you insist.."). Again, supply and demand. This has very little to do with piracy or sales.
