you can usually tell a port from a proper pc release;

- the size of the download / number of discs

- the features or lack of

titan fall = massive install (sound files) didn't play but someone told me it took ages to download and install

battlefield 3 = massive install (bloated with all dlc) each patch f'd up the game just a little bit more

max payne 3 = massive install (over 20 patches) slow install like gta iv

battlefield 4 = massive install patches fails galore, lots of useless dlc

gta iv = around 14-15gb same for eflc bringing complete game over 20gb

rage = pretty big (buggy at release and pretty dull, it's like they spend all the cash on the intro video)

turok = largish (crap)

ports suck.

65gb stated for gta v, does that not scream port? or does everyone think it's a huge loads of super high res textures? coupled with the fact the game is now 64bit and requires windows 8.

*cough* microsoft deal *cough* ?

:p

if it turns out to be a proper pc game and optimized everyone will be happy.

Anyone ever tell you that you're full of sh*t? The file size of the game does not mean anything when it comes to the quality of a PC game. Also, the game does not require Windows 8. By the way if you're trolling, f*ck off.

LOL the fact that you're using THIS as a point in your argument, proves you know very little about the way games are developed. 64 bit architechture allows more RAM to be accessed. 32 bit is limited to 4 GB. I want my games to take advantage of more RAM especially when I have it in my system, it means a better playing experience.

Further your argument, give us all examples of RECENT (within the last year) AAA games that were released that do not require 64 bit OS? It's almost impossible. Newer games take advantage of higher amounts of RAM. Your argument is so flimsy and has no facts behind it. We've not even seen GTA V PC in action yet and you're going to make this argument now?

And also, it does NOT require Windows 8. Windows 7 is acceptable and in listed the requirements provided it is 64 bit.

Anyone who calls themselves a PC gamer and doesn't have a 64 bit OS at this point is doing it wrong. Over the last 2 years more and more games are requiring it. It should not be a surprise. My guess is you still have a PC running XP at 32 and are angry that your machine can't handle it.

The real fact is, in comparison to A LOT of games released over the last 6 months or so, these requirements are VERY generous. It furthers the likelihood that Rockstar are continuing the good job they did optimizing Payne 3.

Wasn't really planning on pre-ordering myself. It's kinda annoying that there's no demos anymore, that way I could at least try a part of the finished product and see wether I want to buy it or not.

Because I want to buy the damn game? Is that enough for you?

Buying the game after it's official release and buying the game before it's even out are two different things. And in this case, not only you have nothing (significant or exclusive) to gain from it, but let's not forget who it's made by: Rockstar, whom have been doing nothing besides flipping us off ever since GTA V PC was announced, and their history with PC games wasn't exactly solid before either.

A little thinking goes a long way.

I plan of pre-ordering it to get myself a free game because its a deal bundle. I'd say I'm also doing it for the pre-order money bonus but this is the PC and we'll be able to get unlimited money easily.

And you'll get banned for doing that....

Easily isn't the point, this is PC and bans are much easier to enforce than consoles.

Partly why tying the game to Steam and RGSC isn't a bad idea. If that RGSC account gets a ban, it bans the Steam account as well.

There will be game conversions and such where money won't be an issue, or Trainers for Single Player that allow such bonuses, so when that happens, fine. But in a normal GTA Online game? Gonna be hard.

They've been giving PC gamers the finger since the first trailer was released in 2011. That was the first finger.

The second finger was them releasing the PS4/XBO versions and delaying the PC version to Jan.

The third finger was delaying the game again to March.

The fourth finger will come when they delay the game again 2 weeks before the March release.

And the fifth and final finger will be 1 of 2 things. A broken unplayable game on release, or no modding support.

my mistake, thought it said windows 8, was actually something else I was looking at the time as well.

not trolling at all. those games were all bad imo, apart from mp3, gta iv. bf3 & 4 were blatant console ports. dice are awful developers and make living from lying to their fan base about all sorts of things, dlc, maps, visuals, destruction you name it.

calm down.

again, argument I was trying to make is still valid.

1. I don't use a 32bit os.

2. I know that 64bit allows higher ram allocation.

3. yes i mistakenly said win 8. everyone makes mistakes.

4. no i do not have an XP machine nor am I angry.

5. most people on here sound like fan boys and they are the real trolls.

6. most games are still 32bit which obviously you fail to recall but usually have

the "app can handle >2gb address space" enabled in their executable. (to support 4gb+) yet usually have the flag 32bit word machine = 32bit app.

7. many 32bit games got 64bit patches like farcry1, hl2 etc.

8. *recent games both 32 & 64 bit, battlefield 4 2013, Thief 2014

borderlands pre sequel 32bit only 2014 to name just a few....

games needing more than 4gb have been 64bit, and yes you are correct their have been many new games supporting 64bit because it is the way forward.

but the fact is a lot of them have been ports.

google console port and you'll find lots of quotes from developers of various franchises claiming their new game will not be a console port and then when it's released it's full of bugs.

dice are the worst at the moment with ea as the dumb publisher, they got so many complaints about bc2 for the pc and battlefield 3 that they closed the whole UK ea forums, moving to battlelog where everything negative is censored, hidden, deleted.

halo 2 was a shody port with dodgy mouse and controller support (still doesn't work with a controller that well to this day)

gta iv was a port, needed patching before it was decent enough to run on fast systems, so many complaints about performance back in the day

rage was a port, broken on release with horrible texture issues, got 64bit patch (eventually)

crysis 2 classic example of a console port. gone went the islands that make the series cool, became a generic shooter, got lots of patches including adding in dx11 support and hires textures.

and so on...

Saints Row 2

Mercenaries 2

Resident Evil 4

Splinter-Cell Double Agent

Dark Souls

Darksiders 2

Red Faction 3 & 4

Red Faction 1 (where did the bots go?)

Gears of War

TC Future Soldider

R6 Vegas 1

many pc games ported have leftover console files in them and some even claim to have proper mouse and keyboard support but are stuck with forced acceleration, smoothing ruining mouse movement & framerate caps that introduce lag. some games though having no controller support have had icons for controller keys left in game, now that's sloppy work.

last console port i played was 007 legends, so bad it was removed from steam.

claimed to have controller support but didn't, terrible mouse acceleration as well.

blood stone was also a port with gfx options that didn't save...forced to play with motion blur. quantum of solace another port lacking controller support as well, basic video options, no tweaking at all.

lots of new pc games using unreal engines have been release with encrypted ini files which shows they didn't want people tweaking settings. luckily most have tools to decrypt them and allow player to properly setup a game to suit their system.

anyway, enough talk. hope that satisfies your rude response.

I still plan of purchasing gta v at some point and I'm hoping it won't be a port, but the past has taught me to not hold my breath. If a 65gb install doesn't sound fishy to you, you need a knock on the head.

You clearly have no idea how ridiculous your words are. If you can't run Max Payne 3, go sell your wooden PC and buy a console. Seriously, being able to run Max Payne 3 should be the minimum point of calling yourself a PC gamer, because it is THAT EASY TO RUN IT.

Sorry my bad didn't see what you have replied. but why list MP3 as ports you think is sh*tty? If i ain't wrong it isn't a port :/

Your doing a top job of demonstrating your cluelessness.

1. A game being big has absolutely nothing to do with whether it's a port or not, this is possibly the most retarded thing I have heard on this forum

2. a. BF3 isn't a port

b. BF4 isn't a port

c. Titanfall isn't a port

d. Max Payne 3 isn't a port

e. Crysis 2 isn't a port

3. Thinking GTA V is a port because it's 65GB

4. Did I mention you have no idea what a port is?

5. Bitching about a lack of 32bit support in 2015

I pre-ordered because 1: I want the game on PC. 2: Those pre-order cash bonuses are nice, more the Online one though then the single player. And 3, regardless of Steam or Rockstar Warehouse you get a free game with it, 2 games for the price of one, I'll take that.

Pre-ordering this game proves to Rockstar that they can f*ck us up the ass all they like and we'll still come begging at them like dogs at the dinner table. Pathetic, f*cking pathetic. People are so quick to forget.

You think what? That they would say:

"Hey, our game has poor optimization, awful bugs and a sh*tty DRM, now buy it."

Ah, C'mon.

I wonder why people focus so much their asses on GTA IV...

After that, Rockstar just managed to improve even more the PC Versions.

But it's your choice to blindly ignore their recent work and think that RAGE will behave on PC the same way it did 7 years ago, based on a PowerPC Console port.

Makes sense? No, but ok. Think like that, not going to stop you from that.

I have Pre-Ordered the game. My ass is fine.

Forget? Don't think that's going to happen.

Lemme find the DELETE button on my mind, wait... I can't.

Double Delay, we won't forget it.

But, keep complaining about the things they've done, after the game release will have no effect on anything.

They have a lot of things to change, communication, plans and more...

And they should do it on their own, seeing how we got pissed and how much disrespect this whole story was.

"We'll still come begging at them like dogs at the dinner table."

Including yourself in that statement... How does that works?

Dogs don't eat at Dinner Tables, right? Well, maybe I have been wrong through my entire life.

No need to sell a proper product any more, since cash is coming from all the pre order people.

So you are the ones making sure games are buggy and broken on release for everyone. You are doing a great job!

If you do not want to order the game, then don't!

Some of us want to support the devs, not necessarily their suits and not supporting the game will guarantee no more GTA's will be published on our platform, late or not....

Why the hell did you drag up this thread designed purely to bitch about everything anyway?

It's my money and I can do whatever I want with it. Rockstar is not Ubisoft, the only thing you guys can whine about is GTA IV .. you don't have anything else on them.. constantly exaggarating the state of a 7 year old game that was running like crap for minority of people. I had no problem with it whatsoever and I had a crappy PC back then.

Max Payne 3 and L.A. Noire were optimized properly and were amazing games.

Then why the hell should I assume GTA V would be a mess ? That's why I pre-ordered. I am sure it's going to be a great game because I can see what they've done with nextgen visuals on consoles and how smooth it runs on their hardware. And I want to support them also in the way that they can see, PC players have a big interest in their games.

If you want to talk about buggy unoptimized unfinished games that won't even get delayed and developers poop their pants when they need to take a risk and loose money by doing it like R* did, please talk about Ubisoft and look at their legendary 2014 titles that don't even deserve to be pirated.

Yay for R*, screw people who think otherwise. You'll buy the game anyway when it's out, it's just gonna cost more and you'll wait even longer for it because of your stupid paranoia and pessimism.
