Previous Release Date Fake

Recommended Posts

So Rockstar knew from the beginning that January was the "fake" release date. That's why it said coming "early 2015" on Steam until today. At least now we know that March 24 is the day. Anyone know why Rockstar hates us so much?

Sure, they hate PC. That's why they waste money on developing it. They were probably uncertain about the date.

Stop defending Rockstar please. I doubt a professional business would be uncertain about a release date. January 27th was fake from the start; Rockstar knew very well, no marketing and no Steam pre orders. Wonder why they never announced March 21st right away. I'm going to guess that they either enjoy fapping to our whining or tried to make the delay seem shorter than it really is.

I support Rockstar, even though I'm mad about the delay.

I can understand that the game needs improvements. I just wish that they would give us some specific reasons on the parts of the game that need improvement.

Just give us SOMETHING more than "polishing the game up for a few weeks"...

I doubt a professional business would be uncertain about a release date.

There are companies that will announce a release date for their game and release it on said date, no matter what. There are also companies that announce a date of launch and try to release their product on time, but delay it if necessary. Rockstar is one of those companies that push back the release if they feel their game doesn't live up to their own expectations.

As I said in another thread yesterday, their delays are not purely a business decision. Well, it depends on how you look at it. Take-Two and Rockstar are very well aware that releasing high quality products will gain them a lot of money in long term. Ubisoft, EA, Activision, and the like with their yearly releases make a lot of money in short term, but their games are no longer relevant after roughly a year or less. Let's use Call Of Duty as an example. Each new installment until 2013 broke sales records every year, since they sold exceptionally well in the first week of release. However, the sales were stagnant a couple of months to half a year after the launch. Whereas it's been 16 months since GTAV originally launched and it still sells pretty well on both, last and next-gen.

Rockstar's decision to delay the PC release is most likely a business decision to an extent. It's not a coincidence that they are planning to release it a week prior to the end of the fiscal year, just like it is not coincidence that all GTAs used to be released in October, which was the end of the fiscal year until 2010. Personally, I doubt that they delayed it for that reason only. They really need a few more weeks of development time, but this was the perfect opportunity to shift it to the very end of the fiscal year.

Now, of course, it's just a guess. But it sounds more likely than "they delayed it by two months because they hate PC gamers and because they want to squeeze out more console sales", which is complete rubbish in my view.

Agreed.

Totallycasual

I'm sure Rockstar would love to not bother with PC but the fact remains that the PC gaming community is largely responsible for buzz, reviews, guides and mods which in the long run extend the life of the game and feeds into the ongoing marketing of the product especially with the online part of the game having the ability to be a steady revenue stream for years to come.

As mentionned in another thread, the fact that they never change the release date on steam, from early 2015 to janauary 27th, was kind of suspicious.

Don't think it was fake date, but just a deadline they didn't meet.

Why haven't they mentionned it earlier they weren't going to realease the game?

They didn't realise yesterday the game wasn't ready for release.

Exactly, you can see a full two month delay coming months away, its not something that sneaks up on you in the last 2 weeks just as everyone is starting to get excited. Bitch move Rockstar, im still buying the game but you have gone from being one of the few companies i respected to being lumped in with the rest of the corporate pigs.
