GTA V driving changed PS4

Recommended Posts

Is it me or they changed the driving in GTA V PS4? I cant figure out if it is oversensitive or something. I would fly down the lanes and navigate traffic pretty good on the PS3 version, actually one of my favorites GTAs to drive in. The high end sports cars were so fun. On PS4 I understand there is more traffic which is fine. But its like I am crashing into or side swiping a vehicle every couple blocks. Whether a car is coming directly at me or I am coming up from behind, it always seems to swerve right at me.. like my f*cking vehicle is magnetic or some sh*t lol. Either that or someone always pops up off screen and turns right into me. Reminds of the older GTAs like Vice City with the annoying traffic. Though it is kind of fun to rage. When one ped causes me to crash, I get out of my vehicle and unleash hell on the whole block and massacre everyone :p Anyone else who played the PS3 and PS4 versions notice the difference?

It has definitely changed. On ps3 the AI traffic were psychic and anticipated your next move. On ps4 if you blow through a red light at an intersection, the oncoming traffic will keep going as it is their right of way and they don't expect you. Same in races with traffic on, they will make the turn just as you're approaching so you end up wiping out.

American Viking

Other than an increase in traffic density, I find it largely the same. The trick is to never hold the "gas" trigger down all the way and instead hold it about 3 quarters of the way down. For some reason, when ever holding the trigger all the way down, the a.i. vehicles tend to cut you off and wreck into you alot more. You can let loose in the country or on the interstate though.

That is because the NPCs on 'purpose' drive in front of the player. It's been that way since the game was released on PS3. It's because the AI is flawed. A common problem in GTA IV (aswell as previous GTAs) was that NPCs would switch lanes. But that problem is minor in GTA V.

Yeah, its starting to get extremely annoying when its happening every other block.

Its seems as though they also closed the gap between two cars waiting at the intersection/red light. On PS3, I could fly right through between the two cars 95% of the time.

I also notice when you hit a driver and kill them, doesn't matter the direction you are steering - the driver is dead but their car seems to magically turn magnetic and glue to your vehicle causing you to stop. Another is always when you go at top speed, a vehicle will change right into your lane (as sure as the sun will rise). All that combined with the increased traffic makes it the most annoying GTA to drive in. Like already mentioned, you can only let loose for a brief period on interstate and highways. Even when I am the only vehicle in remote areas, when I make a fast turn there is always a vehicle that appears like clock work, causing you to crash and the "stick and glue to your vehicle" phenomenon I mentioned. Effin irritating /rant

I wonder how the hell all those Online playing kids get their parents` credit cards number. My mother would kick my ass if i`d even dare to ask her for a credit card to play Online if i would still be a kid.

Ontopic, the only improvements i`ve noticed for current gen driving are increased car engine sounds and slightly improved traction. Driving on the offroad terrain has more feel to it and cuting the corners at high speeds need slightly more control unlike the last gen where you could easily cut the sharp corner at 90 mph without even braking.

But other than that the driving feels pretty much the same, same goes for the vehicle damage system.

I find NG V`s driving little less arcadish and a little more satisfying than on LG. But those are only minor changes, i was expecting more for NG. Turned out the visuals is about all that has been greatly improved since the last gen.

I also feel that they made slight(and welcomed) adjustments but it's a shame it still feels largely similar.

Crashes feel unsatisfactory, cars take waaaay too much damage to deform, braking is too perfect and drifting is lame. I bet if they used those manhours used in those sh*tty monthly dlc's they could easily fix all of this and add it as an option, done and done.

Scale up vehicles weight, add real life braking values, double the damage and loosen up the friction. All of this things require changing current numbers and inputting better ones, not reworking the whole system. Even modders did it on iv easily.

You know what GTA V needs ? That thingy that Mafia II had , with the arcade and realistic driving options.

Keep the V handling line as "arcade" mode and make a new more-like-IV handling line and call it "realistic". And also bring back the ability to damage the sides of cars.

Or the option to control traffic density.

Not so much the traffic that annoys me but the physics. Anyway finished the game properly, $1.2 billion each character and left the side missions (to have something to do). I have all the default vehicles upgraded and the handling is a little better. Unless on highway basically learned to ease up on the gas and have brakes ready and use it more often. Other than the driving I gotta say the game played pretty good on PS4. I notice much more details than PS3 and was def worth replaying. More weapons cool too, the rail gun always makes me lol :)
