SilverRST
Playing games on 4K is nice but you won't be able to use AA as UHD is four times the resolution of 1080p. As nVidia user you can use DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution) on GPU's from Fermi to Maxwell. When using DSR 4x (2160p), the image will be very clear and no single jaggy is noticeable on a 1080p monitor. Use printscreen button and copy+paste it to MS paint and you'll get the 2160p image with lots of pixels because it zoomed in. This happens the same to those 4K GTAV screenshots. I have those 4K screenshot downscaled to 1080p and this is what you'll get: http://i.imgur.com/8hPaEyq.jpg No dots, eh? http://i.imgur.com/ux1glmD.jpg http://i.imgur.com/6cNLOl1.jpg Nice looking tree http://i.imgur.com/2RL3BcJ.jpg It could be that R* is using 4x DSR too and they are testing it how they would look. Having DSR is the cheapest way of getting 2160p resolution without buying the actual UHD monitor. NTAuthority
a) this is simply called SSAA since the early 2000s or before b) the same is noticeable on an actual x2160 monitor as the pixels are a quarter of the size of an equivalently-sized x1080 monitor Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/761364-4k-and-yet-pixels-perhaps-downsampling-like-4x-dsr/#findComment-1066820307 Share on other sites
torresno9
I've tested DSR out on Bioshock Infinite, it's pretty good at certain resolution's, tried 4k out and couldn't read a damn thing of the dialogue on the screen! lol Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/761364-4k-and-yet-pixels-perhaps-downsampling-like-4x-dsr/#findComment-1066820392 Share on other sites
monk70
I really don't care about 4K. FHD is more than enough for now and 2-3 more years. Magic_Al
Math says a person with 20/20 vision cannot discern individual pixels in a 50-inch 4K display from a viewing distance greater than 39 inches. DEERxBanshee
I won't be noticing pixels when i'm trying to get away from cops...who cares Link to comment https://gtaforums.com/topic/761364-4k-and-yet-pixels-perhaps-downsampling-like-4x-dsr/#findComment-1066820535 Share on other sites
SilverRST
Yeah, 4K is just a marketing bullsh*t. If we must believe news tech sites, there won't be any 20nm GPU's this years. 4K is really too much, even for the most powerfull GPU's. 1080p and 1440p all the way! So we can get more eyecandy and more room graphical settings.
