Setting default weapon on L1

Is there any way to set which weapon will be equipped when tapping L1?

 

I don't really use the wheel as I hardly do any shooting, but I would like something other than that little machine gun that equips by default when you tap L1.

 

I know that once you have selected a weapon from the wheel, L1 will draw and holster that same weapon, but how do I set a particular weapon to be drawn on L1 permanently?

You can't but you can cut down time by opening the wheel and setting which guns you want for which category and when you want that gun just open the wheel and select it.

Ah well, thanks for the replies. I was hoping I could just equip my weapon of choice without using the wheel, but if I can't, I can't.

U can. Just set the weapon wheel up how you like it in sp.
