SouthLand
Because you where sad or depressed? You know, after you are told some bad news or you have been very sad for months and one day you just can't take it anymore and you drive away for many kilometers until you realized what have you done and turn back. Have you ever had that experience? I am going to post my experience i have had. When i was given my parole, i found out that my girl didn't wait for me, instead, she had better plans with another guy. Two weeks later my mom had to go to her town near Badajoz, Spain with my grandma so i was supposed to spend a week home alone. My mom left and I was still very sad and deprressed, I stayed all day in my bed without willing to do anything rather than lay in mh bed and ask myself "why?". Until i thought to myself that i had to go to my ex's house and talk to her (It was 9AM on a Friday). I got into my car, drove on the A-2 motorway and drove. 30min later i got to her town's exit but i don't know why, I kept driving and driving until i got in the middle of nowhere of the (Monegro's dessert) and stopped at a gas station to refill my gas tank. Once that was done, i stopped by and ordered a Vodka RedBull, i remeber it was August and it was bloody hot, but the only thing i cared about was her. I hopped in and kept driving after finishing my drink. When i reached The first town of the Madrid region, i stopped at a Gas station again to refill my tank ans thought to myself that i was completly insane... And i had gone to far. I had driven for six hours and had arrived to Madrid. It was 3PM so i paid my gas, bought a sandwich and thought to myself, if i go back home it's 6hours. If i go to my mother's town, it's four hours... So i bought a map and headed for my mother's town. I got there at 3:30h later ( I did speed yes) And i told my mother everything with tears. Both my mother and my grandmother supported me well and i had a few great days wirh them. This is my story what is yours?
don ovdi' island
yes sir. a few years ago i was going thru a lot of legal and family troubles. one night, pissed off and feeling betrayed, i hopped in my car, and took the interstate and just started driving. hours later, music blaring and in deep thought, i realized i actually drove to a whole different state. it was about 2 am in the morning and raining. i decided to head back home. i stopped, got gas, and headed back. however about an hour into the trip traffic started backing up. i'm like traffic? at this hour? what the hell? turns out somebody had crashed and flipped over on the bridge where it narrowed down to 3 lanes instead of 4. cops had 2 lanes blocked and everybody was rubber-necking so it took an extra 30/45 minutes just to get past. made it back to my city early the next morning. luckily, i didnt have work. instead of going straight home, i went to the lake by my house and watched the sun rise. after the sun rose, i returned home and went to sleep. that right there was the most extreme case of just wandering off in the vehicle with no particular place to go.. however i do it quite often in and around town.. just to cruise around, with no particular destination in mind. 79'Blazer4x4
I go off on a cruise every now and then when I'm feeling down. have never ended up too far away though, I usually just loop around the same areas for hours at a time.

QuackinAColdOne
I can see myself doing this a lot when I get my first car, but not because of sadness or depression, but because I'm generally a happy person and I want to explore. One thing I can see myself doing is traveling from city to city just enjoying the sights.
-Silence*
I've done this countless times, regardless of mood. Most often its late summer nights when I can have the windows down and roll outta town and enjoy warm clear sky nights or to watch a thunderstorm. epoxi and kipakolonyasi
Gnocchi Flip Flops
It's something I plan to do once I get a car. I could see myself being the type to go on drives just because, especially since gas is cheap now. Go downtown and just cruise around or cruise through an old wealthy neighborhood I haven't explored yet or just visit those windy Hill Country roads. I think I'll be driving as a pass time. I'm pretty sure later down the line whenever I can afford a really fun used car that I'll go out for a drive taking up the whole day, probably winding up 200 miles from home or more lol. BCspeed34
Back in May my dog which I had grown up with for nearly 12 years fell suddenly ill. We couldn't figure out what was wrong and she just stopped eating or drinking. Well the next day she was taken into the veterinarian and we discovered that she likely wouldn't make it. I couldn't really process that, nor did I know how to, so I hopped in my Lotus and drove. Made it all the way East into the mountains, the roads were unsafe though higher up so I turned back and faced what I had coming. She died that night. Lurch
Something I do every now and then when I'm feeling down. Just find some windy mountain backroad and just blast down it, exhaust blaring. It's pretty therapeutic.
El Dildo
I used to do this a lot when I was younger. not even because I was feeling down, often just for fun, or we would drive out to towns we didn't know for the sake of getting lost and finding our way back. I wish I had the time to do that now.
Kiffster
Many times. Like Diablo, I sometimes do it for fun when I don't have anything better to do. It's awesome to just cruise around once in a while to unwind or to explore for an hour or two and seeing parts of the country you've never been to. I also try to always go exploring when I'm away on holiday, to just take scenic routes through the mountains or along the ocean etc, not knowing where the hell you're going. Discovered some awesome little places like that lol. El Dildo

sivispacem
Do it all the time. Every couple of weekends I hop in the car or on the bike and spend an hour or two punting it round the roads of the Forest of Dean, which are fantastic and beautifully scenic, especially in the autumn. Svip
Of course. I own a classic car. It needs to be driven. Although, I have also driven it to destinations. This May, I am driving it to Paris to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the D-model. visionist and Gnocchi Flip Flops
TheOneLibertonian
I remember my dad always used to take to the outskirts of the city and enjoy a drive along the countryside and admire the views, as well as enjoying fast and continuous set of turns. SouthLand
France is a country i haven't visit that much. (Only Marseille, Le Havre) one day i felt sad again and i decided to drive to France. Two hours later i stopped at a nice town called Canet - en - Roussillon. I parked my car and i sat at the beach. Funny how later a French police woman tried to give me a parking ticket. She only knew French and i don't speak French so at the end she didn't give me the ticket. visionist
Not in my first car, but I've done it on foot, and I've also instinctively hopped on a ten-hour train journey just to escape life's little problems. Will be exploring as much as I can in the new car though.
