Heat Seeking Launcher Issue?

Recommended Posts

Xbox 360.

Hi guys, been experiencing a few issues with the above weapon recently, and was hoping someone could test on the next gen consoles...

Basically I've noticed that, when I'm flying a fixed-wing aircraft (perhaps helicopters too but I've not yet been locked up) such as the P996 Lazer, I get the initial three beeps to inform me that someone is locking onto me. But after this, I'm not getting the constant and rapidly increasing beeps to warn me a missile has actually been fired.

This has often resulted in said jet being blown out of the sky because I'd thought there wasn't anything after me.

Is this a bug, one of Rockstar's wonderful additions to the game that hasn't been fully tested, or is this as intended? If the latter, it's a bit of a silly move... Radar/ Heat lock and incoming missile are two different things and even real life aircraft have different warning sounds to differentiate between the two.

Thanks.

Yeah Ive noticed the same, I was in a helicopter I heard the beeps but didnt even see the missile and died, maybe its lag or maybe its just how its meant to be

Yep, I've been flying looking behind too and there's no mid-air projectile... Just the explosion. Strange.

No it's not lag, me and my friends tested it. you get the initial beeps then you hear nothing.

The missiles are so fast you can't see them until it's too late. Only way so far to dodge them is to be in a jet and going full speed. Really sucks because I really used to enjoy flying a buzzard in this game.

In a helli they are undodgable. I pretty much mastered dodging the auto lock from jets and other buzzards but these are absolutely retarded. Oh well

If you hear 3 beeps you should bail out.

You can easily dodge them in the city, if you are fast enough Edited by Flicksy

Rockstar Logic:

- RPG. Fires rocket propelled grenades. Rank 100.

- Homing Launcher. Fires rockets that fly faster than RPG projectiles, able to lock on and follow target, and take incredibly sharp turns. Rank 1.

Fly a cargobob if you wanna use a heli for transportation it takes two of these rockets to blow it up, one will damage it enough that the engine will die by the time you get halfway across state but you will live and laugh into the sunset.

So what I've taken from this thread:-

1) It happens on both Old Gen consoles (PS3 and 360) as well as new consoles.

2) It's not just me who a) can't see the missile behind and b) isn't getting the audible missile approaching sound.

3) I should simply jump out as soon as I hear the triple beep informing me of someone aiming at me (not necessarily locked on).

However... the last point is far from ideal. If I'm online with a friend, how do I know whether he's aimed at me to get my current location (in the same way people use scopes on rifles in real life, following their ally to find their enemies) or whether someone has in fact fired the missile?

I can only hope come the next update/ PC version I'm buying it'll be fixed.

I've also experienced this and its quite annoying.

Frankly, the accuracy of the shoulder fired missiles are quite annoying alone, as heat seeking rockets from the Buzzards or missiles fired from the Lazer will result in misses substantially more often.

That being said, as someone who doesn't like people to get me and in some sort of sick preservation of whatever little k/d I have, I sticky bomb every air vehicle I deploy now. Suicide is painless.

Not in my opinion...when I heard the beeps, I just sway the helicopter back and forth from left to right. Seems to break the lock.

This would explain why I don't see my targets taking evasive action. I have used the homing launcher on four occasions against helicopters and it worked flawlessly, but the jet can outrun my missile.

Yea but the question is,does your method work every single time?

I've managed to dodge 3 even 4 missiles in a row but always one gets me.And I dont even attack people in groups nowadays because there is no way possible to dodge 2 or more homing missiles at the same time.

Well, I was lucky it only seemed to be 2 people shooting at myself and my crew-mate...crew-mate didn't make it. Also, the skyscrapers helped.

If I were in the open or there were more people... Probably wouldn't be so lucky.

I took out a Cargobob yesterday with just a single shot from my Stinger.

And thats where I wanted to end up,since there is not a solid way to dodge the missiles every single time, whether in the city or the countryside, the buzzard is practically dead for PvP combat.
