You shouldn't be able to move in Passive Mode

Recommended Posts

Hello. You shouldn't be able to move in Passive Mode. Passive move has become a strategical weapon for noobs, An example: a noob switch to passive mode, goes for a tank. There is no way to prevent this noob from taking a tank. Passive mode should be for people who need to go to WC or go to drink something etc. You might say that passive mode is useful for people who just explore the world, those people should join to only invite session, not public.

Lol it's fun dealing with those people. Also just blow up the tank before they get in it, anyone with have a brain that has played much knows where the tank spawns are at. Just follow the lil bitch and keep destroying his tanks. That easy.

Also if you are complaining about tanks still clearly your the noob. Honestly it's EASY to take out tanks. Tanks killing is fun lol.

The only thing about passive mode they need to change is the being in HPV thing.

oh silly me.. lol

I'm still in the PS3 360 Stone Age

All the more reason 360 is the best and I'm not ready to drop 500 bucks for a new console and games

I don't think you get it. Passive mode on current gen is far better than it ever was on old gen.

You can't run over people, you can't shoot them in/on vehicles, they can't shoot out of vehicles, they can't cargobob, they can't use weapons in jets or helicpters, they can't use the fire hose (which they are also impervious to).

It's everything it should have been in the first place. The only gripe people are having is that someone can kill them and then go passive, which they always could anyway. It's just that now there is (almost) *nothing* you can do to "get your own back".

This thread is about bruised egos - not how sh*t passive mode now is, because it isn't.

This thread is not only about "The only gripe people are having is that someone can kill them and then go passive, which they always could anyway.". This thread is also about people that are going for armed vehicles while being in passive mode.

My bad. It's about 2 things that people can't deal with, not one.

(And I know you meant HPV ;))

What is HPV?

What do you think about making separate lobby for people with passive mode, and without passive mode?

There are two different occasions I use passive....

- Whenever I step away from the game to have a smoke outside, I'll put my character in passive, place him on top of a cargo container or staircase where he can't be run over by another player. Of course if someone flies a plane or helicopter into me its going to kill me and that has happened before but not very often. Last night I took a break from the game to have a smoke and when I got back some dude was trying to kill me with sticky bombs. I didn't move my character, I let him think that I was idle, he finally gave up and wandered off and when he did, I came out of passive and rocked his f*cking world.

- When I go to the clothes store to buy something for my character. When entering the store, I go into passive to prevent some jackass from running up in to the store gunning me down. That has happened to me before, trying to pick out clothes for my character, some jerk runs up into the place guns down the teller and me in the process.

Sorry, I was giving the benefit of the doubt there. If you do mean armed vehicles (tanks, jets, buzzards) then they can't fire them in passive. If they come out of passive then you kill them. I don't see that as a problem.

I can see benefit of having passive and non-passive lobbies, sure. The only real downside I can see to that is that I may want to join a session that friends are in and be able to jump in and out of passive mode to suit what I'm doing, without having to swap sessions all the time. If they're rampaging and I want to go stunting then I'll go passive (if needed) but can then jump out of passive later and join in with the rioting. I think it's a reasonable suggestion to have split lobbies, but I think it would be better to solve issues, rather than mask them with something else that will end up broken.

I agree with op but I think that there is a better solution:

Passive noobs should be automaticaly redirected to an Invite Only session as soon as they press "Passive mode".

EDIT: Or a Passive Mode Only Session, so they can join other passive noobs and explore the map and do all that gay stuff they keep complaining that they cannot in a public session.

I agree but i have nothing against those "noobs" that are passive mode to "explore" stuff and take it easy. But i hate those who attacks and starts war then gets owned and goes passive mode and sneaking like like lil bitches, Goes off passive and kills behind your back or just annoys follows you maybe sends something in phone.

I love a good clean fight tho. Someone maybe surrender and goes passive mode and sends "Good fight that was fun" or something (Even if i dont thought it was all the time Lol) And then drives away and get the f*ck out of my faces. The annoying lil bitches allwas stay and creep on you.

I am sure we can all agree that an abuse of Passive Mode like that should be stopped, but I don't think it is fair to start a war on Passive Mode just because of that. In my opinion Passive Mode on the PS4 is almost perfect now as it is, and everything can be abused. I think it would be an abuse if I went to Fort Zancudo and put a proximity mine near each jet.

Calm down.

Sorry, but I think that new passive mode sucks..

Just another example of the wussification of gtao

And again you should make it clear that you are on the PS3/XBOX360.yep

still the same game with silly new features.

IMO Kinda ruins the excitement of not knowing when your character is going to get murrdered for no apparent reason.

Damn!

that pic looks like Marky Mark is right outside Fort Zacundo.. lol

I let them go into passive and get into a tank/jet. That means as soon as they're in the tank/jet I can kill them and force them into passive once again.

I haven't played much on the XB1 but I do understand passive works differently, turning you into a ghost so other players can't kill those in passive. My question is.. can you still bounty someone and prevent them from going passive on next-gen?

Yes

Why no?

I can't decide if this is a serious thread or not. Who is seriously afraid of tanks these days? If you go off the radar and shoot a couple of stingers that thing is toast. Plus it's a massive moving target for the entire session. If you have a problem with tanks, you're not good enough at the game and to suggest R* make a massive change like that just for you is ridiculous.

^^ As above - it's the same as old gen. You can't go passive when you have a bounty on you. Also, you can bounty someone when they're passive, but it doesn't start the timer until they disable it. That's still amusing when it happens, watching flocks of blips surround you, only to run into the room, guns blazing, to see a semi-transparent character standing there, waving at them :p

If your so worried about players in tanks/jets going into passive mode after griefing you, then why not go in passive mode youself to prevent him from griefing you in the first place? *Mind blown*

Passive mode on current-gen is near perfect and Its miles better than it was on last-gen.

Because then they would be "a bunch of slack jawed fa**ots" and would have to live with the shame of using passive mode instead of being the faux-badass they think they are for not using it.

Well then, I'm not even going to post because opinions are like assholes and everyone is one.

Your attitude is far too passive. You might get called a homophobic slur :p

Sorry for PvPing the thread, I guess I burst right in and spawn killed the discussion.

Oh, and I don't mind being called a fag, it's cigarette in UK.

Just put a higher countdown timer on passive mode and make HPV and crate drops impossible for passive users. Then all passive problems are fixed. 10 minutes countdown between switching to passive and non-passive fixes all the passive abuse possiblities right away. And this way, the people (in my oppinion pussies that should play Habbo Hotel) that harmlessly use passive, can still roam around like the little pussies they are :)

Lol good point. I guess the phrase "I smoked a fag" now has many meanings.

And thank you for the reminder. I keep meaning to update my profile to show where I am.

See this why passive mode was better on last gen cuz u weren't a ghost that's allowed to troll...idk how many times I've had people kill me why i was minding my business then they go into passive mode to start sending me messages...so you know what they got for that...helicopter blades to the body until they leave the lobby

I'd do something much more effective, but it's difficult for a lot of players and they have to find alternatives as they're not capable.

I'd walk away.

good clarification, thanks.
