The Mysterious One
I remember renting it a long time ago and I wasn't exactly too crazy about it at first glance. Months later, I rented it again and I enjoyed it more. I have to hand it to Team Soho for making this game. I got used to the lack of a HUD and map after a while. I also liked how both stories were interlinked, but if I had to choose which story I liked better, I would probably go with Mark's story than Carter's story. Mark had a more personal issue with his wife being killed and his son being held hostage, not to mention the other gangs of London wanting him dead, even his old gang. Whereas with DC Carter, he had more of an obsession to bring down the main gang, which was ran by the main villain, Charlie Jolson. I still have the game to this day, and I got it as a gift for my birthday many years ago. I still have not played "Black Monday." I might order it off of Amazon. Zello
Former dev on The Getaway talks about the possibility of a remaster/remake why it would be difficult and if the Getaway could return. It's just his thoughts though and should be taken with a grain of salt since he works for 2k and Hangar 13. Bloodytears1666
I missed a chance to play any, and still hope they will port it as Playstation Classics game. Always thought this one from Driver league games, that have unfortunately put intro GTA clone category... might be wrong. This one and Driv3r are games that should be held somewhere, no matter how "specific" they were in market.
Collibosher
I played Black Monday a lot prior to GTA IV and I remember always thinking how "realistic" and mature the gameplay, physics and the overall design was compared to GTA:SA . So when the GTA IV was released, I really didn't have that "shock" which many other GTA fans had, because I had already been used to playing an open world game, set in a cloudy concrete jungle with "clunky" controls and seriousness. (I kinda first thought; "wait a second, this feels and looks like a Getaway clone!") It had a freemode too with few secret vehicles to discover, but nothing like a GTA styled living and breathing open world with some RPG elements. Just a crime story played from the perspectives of the different characters in an open world map. Compared to any GTA, I think it was kinda challenging too, because I can just now remember the large blood stains on the protagonists' backs and the anxious waits for them to heal. DEADWOODZ
I remember renting it from Blockbuster years back. Also that one mission where Hammond goes into the yardie crack den for the money lol. Soundtrack was decent, too! sabitsuki
A game that was about 2 generations ahead of its time I feel.
Standard Deluxe 59
Shame they scrapped the 3rd one that was to be for ps3. A new Get away game would get me to buy a ps5 though.
LittleBlueTroll
One of my favourite games of all time. I've said it many times on here, but this was always on my list of wanted remasters, I didn't even consider some of the factors mentioned in the video above. Really interesting to hear about some of the things that would be needed to remaster. I agree whole heartedly with what the guy said though, if they added in fabricated brands and companies, it would take away the essence of what The Getaway was. vcfan1991
Hell yes I remember The Getaway, brother. Graphics still look better than most games today lolz Awesome game - played through the whole thing. I'd rate it a solid 9/10. Some interesting YouTube videos out there going into details about cut vehicles in the game, developer insights etc if you're interested. Word association: Impressive. They don't make games like that anymore...
LittleBlueTroll
I was in the loft yesterday, when I found this bad boy: I couldn't find Black Monday, then I remembered many moons ago I let my friend Scott borrow it and never got it back. That was in about 2006, so I can safely say it's long gone... Anyway, still have the booklet and map as you can see. I miss them old booklets that had little stories or character bios in, not many games do that now. Standard Deluxe 59
shadyslady
I remember I found it really hard and less appealing than gta but them eventually got into it, it grew on me and I even beat it. The last Mission was on a cargo ship or? And it was a cop and a crook as protagonists
