Where do we go from here? GTA V (heists, SP DLC and eventually GTA VI(

Recommended Posts

Most of us are prolly still busy playing GTA V on the PS3/360, PS4/XB1 or PC later this month.
Its been about 1.5 years since GTA V launched, and we will shortly have our long awaited Heists.

2013: August 15th - GTA Online is announced, with a message to the community about Heists making its way to GTA Online shortly after launch.

2014: October- Rockstar promises Heists in first major update after PS4/XB1 releases.
2014: December 16th - GTA Online Heist Trailer revealed, promising an early 2015 release.

2015: GTA V arrives on PC later this month on the 27th(Hopefully with heists being released the same day).

Ok, so its the end of January and we are all having a good time playing GTA Online robbing stuff and enjoying the long awaited content.

Where does the road from here?

2 weeks ago, Franklin re-confirmed working on the previously promised SP DLC for 2014.

After wrapping up the development for GTA V in August 2013, Rockstar North likely continued working secretly on the PS4/XB1 version. Potentially splitting the team in two or three, 50% working on Heists and SP DLC/Ports, 50 % start working on the next installment (GTA VI).

The PC port was taken care of by the Max Payne 3 team, which should give North more manpower to work on other projects.

Guesses:
2015 January: Heists
2015 August/September GTA V - Story DLC

2015 Monthly: Additions to GTA Online (Cars, missions, Heists)
2016 October 30th/31st - GTA Vice City PS4/XB1 (RAGE 2.0)

The development time between GTA San Andreas and GTA IV was quite long, given they had to make a brand new graphics engine(RAGE) from ground up for the new consoles(PS3/360).

Rockstar has had lots of practice working on RAGE with GTA IV, RDR, MP3 and GTA V. Which should speed up development when working on GTA VI, with their updated RAGE engine.

Hopefully Rockstar started secretly scouting, mapping and doing location research for their next project right after finishing up GTA V for the PS3/360.

What do you think Rockstar North has been working on, other than Heists and SP DLC since 2013?

Well rock star will be busy thinking up new ways to piss off SP fans. Promising stuff they cant deliver in a reasonable time frame. Restricting the freedom you have. Generally doing bad work, so they can slap a dlc sticker on it

Well I agree with you to some degree, but we cant look away from the fact that they make great games! Altho they are some slow ass motherf*ckers not delivering on time! They still deliver great products. GTA V sure had a million issues with GTA online.. The online launch was a living hell.. On both console generations :p

Gtao still is a living hell. Its a lag simulation

I strongly disagree. Sorry, there are still many people giving a flying f*ck about GTA Online.

But on topic: I think there will be no heists in January. In a few weeks (or so ;) ) we will see the PC release, then they have to deal with bugs and glitches. So I expect heists this spring. Later this year, maybe in autumn, we will get a remastered RDR or even a whole new RDR.

The way R* is treating SP nowadays, I doubt we will get a SP DLC before 2016.

If I´m wrong, people can laugh at me then. That would be fine by me, because it would also mean we´re getting a SP DLC earlier. ;)

An remember.

GTA Online is supposed to continue into the next installment of GTA (VI).

Building a large GTA Online universe, that would expand into further GTA projects and grow larger and larger is supposedly Rockstars long term goal.

They better learn something from all their f*ckups, and make it a great playground down the road.

I wish Rockstars main goal was to focus on SP content instead of MP content. But like they said a while back, GTA Online would be a huge focus for them in the years to come. Hopefully this will not result in lesser quality SP portions of the games.

Single player content > Multiplayer content...

GTA online is the thing that makes money, consistently, a lot of people play it every day, I'm guessing a surprising amount of people buy shark cards. That funds future things. Only SP is very risky for really expensive games. If they make SP stuff which nobody buys because it has the word gay in it, they lose a lot of money. More people play online, not just 12 year olds, millions every day.

Releasing a big SP DLC later, once costs are covered, makes business sense, they'll still have online if it fails.

Rockstar table tennis 2 or state of emergency 3 is next for them :p

They sayd that they started the GTA V developement the same day as IV was released. So actually GTA V have 5 years of development (plus 1 more year for CG versions). But we don't know.. will R* use the same engine? Or do a completly new one? Rage engine is almost 10 years old (Table Tennis, 2006) and still has amazing capabilites, but it's an old-gen engine. Activision did COD: Ghosts for PS4, which was an enhanced-graphics version of his PS3 counterpart (much like GTA V is now), and now, they opted for a brand new engine for Advanced Warfare for CG consoles. So we don't know if R* will change the game engine (if they do that, expect another 5 years of development)

They might send development kits to all the internet experts, the ones who think they know more than the quite talented devs, the ones who call them lazy. It would include a voice message saying' make your own game then'

It's a possibility.

Or look at the older games and say. How did we make things worse

You forgot to mention all the different times heists were delayed but

OT: After the singleplayer DLC comes out sometime this year, we will get the last online update somewhere in 2016. After that, no more updates or DLC and they will focus 100% on GTA VI (Or hopefully Bully 2 :)

^You heard by your ears and eyes, but what does your heart tell you young son?

OT: More heists. They've probably read comments about how ther SP was sh*t so they may improve that through progressing Franklin's story better and the other dudes.

I think we're getting Liberty City single player DLC in the same way we got Ballad, i keep listening to the radio when im driving around in V and im always hearing adds talking about taking a trip to Liberty City. My dream would be for us to be able to drive to the airport, hop on a plane and land in Liberty City. Then we could work with/against some of the people from GTAIV.

I just want to see Roman and for it to take place after C so all this "______ is canon" is settled once and for all.

Killing Luis will be a very nice bonus.

I'd guess Heists this spring, Story Mode DLC this fall (or delayed into next winter), Red Dead 3 announced this fall and coming out a year after they announce it.

If we thought it was long wait between new Rockstar games last gen I think it could be even longer now. Major DLC packs now take as long as whole games took 10 years ago. It's been quiet out west so it's very likely a Red Dead is on the way but I doubt even Rockstar knows for sure what's after that.
