I'm still baffled by the food comment about Lidl being packaged as M&S. I didn't think that was some dirty little secret. Certain people feel better about spending more money on the same foods as everyone else. It's a class thing, and it keeps the economy going. There was even a news story about an apparently outraged man who peeled back the sticker on his Waitrose curry to reveal an Aldi one. I thought this was common knowledge? I'm not saying it's right to do necessarily but it doesn't make a lick of difference. I've noticed a pattern though - anytime good old Bender has rings run around him, he throws another argument in that has little to no bearing to what's being asked of him.

It's called a Gish Gallop- it's a pretty well known technique used mostly by people whose ideas are generally poorly supported by evidence. Like creationists and Brexiteers.

 

Basically, you throw as many wildly different arguments at someone as possible and ask them to disprove them all, in the knowledge that they're far more time consuming to refute than they are to make.

In Sweden, liquor producers have to make a deal with the government, who will buy in extremely large quantities, which will reduce costs, thus bring the price down. In other countries, each store has their own deal with suppliers, having to seriously bargain between quantity and prices. 

 

As a result, you can buy excellent wine for dirt cheap in Sweden. And it's also all very controlled, so the chance of counterfeit alcohol etc is slim to none. Jeez, you really don't have a clue.

If you ever watch State of the Union on Euro News; it's sickening that these people try to show Europe as civilised, so they go on location to a random soulless building to pretend it's a busy city like New York or London and there's like 10 cars in the background the building is just a building and means nothing but to mud puddle people being backwards in fields across Europe this building distracts them from being in a mud puddle. It could be a tenement for all we know, it could be Belgium's answer to Time Square; it doesn't matter because in civilized eyes, it's a random building and an intersection.

 

Also, why do places in Europe celebrate people who died 100s of years ago or were famous 100 years ago?

Hasn't Austria got anything to give since Beethoven? Never heard of Federico Fellini and his work is ancient, but because Italy hasn't got much else to celebrate, to get tourist money, this guy's home town are making a big deal about it because that's all it's got going for it; some dead has been no one's heard of.

You don't see Croydon making a big deal over David Lean.

 

Then when they summed up 2019 in one word for each country on Euro News; it's like a comedy; it's shows storm troopers everywhere beating down protesters and revolts here and corruption there and people feeling let down for different reasons - because Europe's basically backwards.

Sadly for you, just because the UK leaves on Jan 31st, doesn't mean Remainers are going away, like you think they'll do.  Only stupid people think that's the case, in the same way Boris trying to get rid of the DExEU Department, doesn't disguise the fact Brexit isn't going away for years, it probably will never go away from the news and daily chat.
