How to fix Player Blips on Map!

Recommended Posts

A lot of people have been complaining about the player blips appearing on the radar. It's been a common complaint for a long time. It gives away your location to other players who want to come and hunt you down. Here is a simple fix that I think most people would like to see.

Passive Mode (OFF) - Weapons Enabled. Friendly Fire Enabled. Location of all players NOT in Passive Mode are located on the map. If a player who's in Passive Mode is encountered, the player will appear as a ghost.

Passive Mode (ON) - Weapons Enabled. Friendly Fire Disabled. Location of all player IN Passive Mode will be located on the map. If a player in Passive Mode encounters a player who is not, they will appear as a ghost.

Allowing players in Passive Mode the ability to use weapons gives them the opportunity to complete gang hideouts and have fun with fellow Passive Mode players. How many times do you wish you could've pulled out a gun but couldn't because you were in Passive Mode? Disabling Friendly Fire allows fellow Passive Mode players to meet and greet without the fear of one killing the other.

This is a win/win for both sides. This allows players who are NOT in Passive Mode to kill each other as much as they want without interfering with someone who doesn't want to be involved. It also still gives meaning to the 'Off the Radar' perk, eliminating them from the radar from fellow enemies for sixty seconds. This also allows players in Passive Mode the freedom to use their weapons as they please without having to worry about fighting another player, or the fear of someone finding them on the radar who isn't in Passive Mode.

What do you guys think?

I generally agree. Your explanations seem a bit complicated, but basically I just want to be PvP-passive (using the ghost idea you suggest), but I need to be able to fight NPCs with all my weapons.

I think this has Fanny Adams to do with player blips!

But about passive mode and despite your demented descriptions I agree and actually thought this is what they did on last update, in fact am wondering is it not actually this way. I don't do much gallavanting in passive mode so am now miffed (bit not surprised) @ classic rockstar logic.

Or how about use Invite Only if you want to do gang attacks/HPV/customise/chill if you don't want randoms attacking you.

Everything in FR can be done in a controlled environment already in the games code. Stop begging Rockstar to baby you.

I like the blips on the map. Passive players do not belong in free roam. Thats why we have invite only, solo, closed friend, and closed crew sessions. This is just my opinion ofcourse.

Yeah I've been thinking of this idea for some time. It's incredibly annoying when you have a wanted level and are in passive mode. You have no meaning of defence with the only option to die. The only options to rectify this is to either remove wanted levels in passive, which of course cannot be done due to obvious reasons, or to give passive players the ability to use weapons.

As the OP suggested you cannot harm other players like they cannot harm you. The only issue is using explosive weapons, fine if you fire an RPG at someone's PV it won't blow up, but what happens if the PV is at the end of a chain reaction? Unless a system is put in place to detect this explosives wouldn't be allowed in my version of this.

But yeah all of this is obviously stretching the original idea of Passive mode, but I think the community needs this kind of expansion to the feature imo.
