QuackinAColdOne
Known for being a luxury sports manufacturer suited towards urban commuting, Jaguar Land Rover has developed a new technology that could get rid of road incidents altogether. The company has put together a visual system throughout the entire car that shows the driver all obstacles and hazards, triggered just by the turn of the head. Invisible pillars in the car increase blind side awareness and allow the driver to see vividly in a 360-degree radius. The obstacles shown to the driver include pedestrians, vehicles, construction, signs, and even a timer for stoplights. The visuals shown in the windshield could also provide number of parking spaces available, gas prices, and more all to ease the tension of the one behind the steering wheel so they can get from point A to B in optimal safety. The manufacturer also introduces a ghost car navigation system instead of screen-based GPS. This allows for the driver to never have to look at another device ever again as long as the "Follow-Me Ghost Car" is enabled. In my eyes this is good and bad. It's formally another step into the future of transportation, but what happens when the technology fails after people have been adapted to it? What if the visuals send wrong information and cause a worse incident than what could have happened under present-day circumstances? All of this, plus those that feel it's taking away from the experience of driving. While this technology is great and makes it safer for everybody, I don't think it will ever be something for me. What do you guys think of it? LeFox
Seems like some of the features would be distracting. I wouldn't use it.
epoxi
'Transparent' pillars would be useful, everything else looks like a gimmick. Furthermore, I agree with the video's skeptical comments: showing a CGI mockup of what you think is a good idea does not constitute 'introducing' a feature. This strikes me as more of a marketing ploy to get people talking about Jaguar as opposed to a demonstration of any meaningful development. Sean O'God
It seems like there's too much that could go wrong. What if the ghost car leads you into an oncoming lane for example? Technology isn't perfect so I wouldn't trust most of this stuff. But like epoxi said, the transparent pillars do seem pretty useful. mr quick
Dottie
Ghost car sounds like a terrible idea?
visionist
Fighter pilots already have this technology. Look down and you won't see the cockpit floor, but 50000 feet of air.
