1800s Pirate Naval Warfare!

Recommended Posts

Just got inspired to make a new Contend mission. I wanted some old fashion sailing ship warfare. So I just made this cool mission that has each team starting at their own port, taking their ships out to stormy sea, and landing on Treasure Island to get the loot bag from the enemy fort and take it back to their base to score. Only 1 bag per fort. I originally wanted to use the muskets, but I just found out that they arent available for the creator yet. So, to get the next closest thing, I equip the teams with pump shotguns, for similar type gun battles, and grenade launchers to fire at opposing boats out at sea and towards opposing forts on the island. Take it public, or try it with your crews and tell me what you think. Use Forced+ Pickups Only for the best fair pirate experience, as homing missiles and rocket launchers will destroy both fleets in seconds if you allow people to bring in Owned weapons. Plays 2-16, but wont be much fun with anything less than 4 v 4

Heres the official description:

Simulated 1800s Pirate Naval Warfare! Blue Beards vs Red Beards CONTENDING for the loot on Treasure Island. Drive a Sailboat Fleet from your home port on a cold rainy windy morning out to Treasure Island. Recover 1 bag from the enemy Fort and get it home to score. 2 pts wins each round, best of 3 rounds. Balance your men between navy offense and fort defense. Each team gets 6 pump shotguns, 4 grenade launchers, knives, and 10 sailboats. Winners get first pick of the town wenches! YARRRR!!

Great minds think alike, lol. I think we even used the same island. I wanted to use the musket as well. I used tanks instead of rocket launchers, I just blocked them in so you can't move. Hopefully yours gets more plays than mine.

I finally got to play it the other day, only once. It was a 1 v 1 match with a fellow GTAForum guy. He was over aggressive on offense. He had the bag, but instead of making back for his base with a lead on me, he stayed on the island as I approached and was firing the grenade launcher at me. I went for evasive maneuvers with plenty of distance from the island, wind blowing, big waves rolling, and rockets red glare bursting in air. It was exactly the feel I was going for as my sailboat swerved left and right to give him a harder long range target to hit. I was going to go to HIS base before he got there to kill him, as he had done earlier. I had got past the island, and thought I was home clear, until one lucky DEEEEP hail mary pass from him got me and BLEW ME UP. LOL Good times good times.

When you die, you are sent back to your home port, well away from the island and out of the action, so death REALLY stings and is satisfying when you get the kill. In 1 v 1, it came down to who got to the island, and killed the other guy first. You couldnt just grab the loot and run, because the speed of the sailboats didnt make for a fast getaway, you instantly take grenade launcher fire from the island. Since there are only 2 grenade launchers per home port, and 2 more grenade launchers on the island per base, they can only fire and miss you so much before they run out of ammo.

We didnt the same island, my island is further north next to the lighthouse.

Nice work! I tried to create something similar about a year ago but no matter how many times i tried, i couldnt fix the spawn points(maybe because i put too many spawns on too many islands, hehehe...) I look forward to trying this contend of yours out.
