Is $60 for the PC version of GTA V a fair price?

It's 40$ in India which is 2500 INR on flipkart. I'm okay with that. :) However 60$ is unjustified for a 2 and a half year old game.

Normally games in India are priced from ₹999 to ₹1799, even the witcher 3 & Batman: Arkham Knight are priced only ₹1499, then how can you justify ₹2499 for a 2.5 year game in India

It's far better than shelling out 3799 INR.

Yes, I was pretty shocked at that pricing too. You can get Shadow of Mordor+Alien Isolation+GTA4 in that price. But 2499INR is a very justifiable price for a game like GTAV which offers much more content than latest fifa and cricket games, which cost 3000INR+.

No it's not, we should be paying $100 for this masterpiece.

And what costs 100 $?

Call of Duty... *puke*

Well then when your the person buying the game then $60 is unfair for a 2 year old game, but if your R* then $60 is a pretty reasonable price to sell it when there is so much more new stuffs added to it.

And remember, it's a new game cos you haven't played it on the PC yet.

This is my number one most hilarious excuse that cracks me up the most, the lengths these fanboys will go to make up excuses for why they're being robbed blind by Rockstar. Amazing.

The game's been out for over a year and a half. I have owned it on last gen, I own it on current gen, and eventually I will own it on PC. The PC version is identical to the PS4/XB1 version just with a video editor and configurable graphics. The graphics won't be absurdly better than PS4 like PS4 is better than Xbox 360. And frame-rate? I am HOPING I can manage a rock solid 30 fps with no dips, and that's with the rig in my signature. I am not anticipating 60 fps from a game that was released in 2013. That's pathetic.

What you gain in the remaster, is not enough to warrant a $60 purchase for anyone, even people who haven't played the game yet. It's the same old story from last year, with meaningless exclusive remaster content. Graphics improvement, while nice, still doesn't come close to what the original trailers produced. The ONLY hope for the PC version, is mods. At least then we are sure to turn GTA V into the beauty it could have been if it were PC only title, like Crysis 1, the last game to push the envelope in gaming history.

Paying normal price for a product=robbed blind. Yeah, okay.

Please tell that to the team developing it for the PC, I'm sure they'll be elated to hear that you think their work literally doesn't exist, since the game is identical to the console versions.

AKA that's a nice oversimplification of what the PC version is.

And anyway, it's the same game as the one release a couple of months ago. Full price was entirely justifiable then, it is entirely justifiable now.

The graphics are variable, as is the frame rate. We don't know the specs needed for it, so I don't know where this came from. Hold the optimisation hate until we, y'know, know how optimised it is.

'even people who haven't played the game yet' and then you go on to moan about things that literally only matter to people who've played the game. No, throwing in negative adjectives doesn't prove your point, and a lot of people say all the additions in the remastered edition are great. Plus, there's a large number of people who bought the initial version and the remastered version, so evidently there's a lot of people who think it does warrant that price.

The ONLY hope for the PC version, is mods. At least then we are sure to turn GTA V into the beauty it could have been if it were PC only title, like Crysis 1, the last game to push the envelope in gaming history.

This is evident from the thriving community based on the consoles, which as we know has only be sustained for well over a year because of the vast modding community they have.

Oh wait, no, people love the base game. It will stand on its own two legs just fine.

Basically, quit yer melodrama and hyperbole and stop whining that you deserve it cheaper because you don't like it as much.

For us Dutch people a GTA V steam key/physical copy costs between €40 and €55, approximately between $48 and $66 US. I'm just going to pre-order a Steam key at a shop for €40,- because I don't need the physical copy per se.

R$60,00 would be a fair price, but $60,00 is definitely NO! NEVER! I would never pay ++R$120,00 on a delayed and downgraded game in order to avoid making the weakiness of the next gen upon the PC look too much evident, this is the reason I don't pick up downgrUbisoft games.

GTA V PC is downgraded aswell, the lack of trees that were present on the first trailer and the firsts artworks proves this.

LOL! You thought it's downgraded simply because of that?

It's a clear sign of downgrade together with the chopped car physics due to their incompetence of optimizing the game to PC without chopping content out.

If it wasn't by the old gen consoles, we would have trees everywhere, better AI and the physics would be more realistic. What makes me laugh is your level of fanboyism for consolestar.

And how do you know that? Are you a R* insider? No. Defending R* makes me a fanboy? Yeah right. I'll never forgive R* for Trevor's introduction mission, V's sh*tty driving physics, etc.

They may charge what they want for it! We all know you're going to buy it anyway, aren't you? ...That is the problem with society today, they complain first, then they but it regardless, because like they say they got no choice they need it so bad, like a friggin drug! LOL If less people were like that, the developers would charge much less, but since they see so many blind and gullible sheep buy their product, they charge more, so they could make more money! = profit...

Yup, we Aussies certainly pay the "Australia Tax" simply because of where we are. :/

Absolutely not. $50 is a steal, $40 should be fair. Consider how many pc players have had the game spoiled for them, and the sheer amount of time that we should have been playing alongside console users but had to wait. No, f*ck no $60 is not fair. Even if it was day one, no digital game should be $60.

Look at Ground zeroes. It originally launched at $40. Pc day one price was $13 and that was only after about 8 months of waiting. Rockstar on the other hand are going to make us cough up full retail price for a game that's almost twice as delayed as Ground Zeroes. Disgusting.

I seriously hope nobody on here goes and buys the pc version for $60. Look for discounted versions, but do not go on and pay full. They don't deserve it.

"The game was spoiled for me" is not a really good argument for a lower price. That's not Rockstars fault as far as they are concerned. As far as Rockstar is concerned, they put in a considerable amount of effort and resources to differentiate it from last gen GTA V where they improved upon every aspect of the game drastically. Just like the asking price was 60 dollars for current gen GTA V, the asking price is going to be 60 dollars for PC.

As for Ground Zeroes, even though it's a great game, it did not deserve the 40 dollar price tag from the start LOL. They immediately lowered the price of that game to 20 dollars after it was launched on the consoles... and when it finally made it to PC Kojima gave us a little treat by giving a nice discount over the 20 dollar asking price, as the day it was released also corresponded with the Steam sales. Not to mention the fact that other than better graphics, Ground Zeroes did not improve in any other way on the PC, Grand Theft Auto V on the other hand did.

GTA V is a game where even the most casual player can easily put 50 hours into that game, whereas the dedicated players will be putting hundreds of hours into it.

As for Ground Zeroes, your casual player will put in a maximum of couple of hours into the game whereas the most dedicated players will realistically be putting in around 20 hours.

Comparing Ground Zeroes' price and GTA V's price solely based on how long it took to get released on PC is not a fair comparison.

However, that is not to say 60 dollars is going to be worth it from you... 60 dollars is simply a justifiable price by Rockstar.

If you genuinely think you're not gonna get your 60 dollars worth, don't get it, that's your prerogative. Wait until the game is cheap enough where you think it's finally worth it.

So you think it's f*cking fair to charge PC players full price for the privilege of playing a game over a year and a half late in which many players have had the game heavily spoiled for them due to the sheer amount of time between releases? You think that's f*cking fair?

GTA V IS a year and half old now. Don't say the ps4 version is a new game. Its the exact same story. Exact same map. Exact same characters. Just with better graphics which does not make it a new game. and a few extras. As someone who paid $60 day one for ps3 in 2013. I don't see the point in paying full price for a game I already had for over a year.

No, not in the slightest, I was just practising my ability to disagree with people.

Of course I think it's fair, surely if it's such an obvious answer for you then you'd be able to do better than repeating yourself. Sure, it would be nice for them to at least make it cheaper for returning players, but it's a full AAA game like any other and is equivalent to the full priced game released a couple of months ago. And Xbox One/PS4 players didn't get the privilege of a cheaper game so I don't see why PC players should, plus you certainly can't complain if you bought it on Xbone/PS4, since you knew full well it was gonna be out for PC at that time.

Seriously, is there a reason to make it cheaper that justifies having Xbone/PS4 players paying full price and includes people who have never played it before?

60$ in US and 50 eur on Europe and its fine by me.

But if its cheaper then I'm surprised.

If its more than that I would rather wait some more just to get it cheaper and buy it for a friend.
