V's ones are amazing. The handheld camerawork is awesome and the dialogue felt the most natural and best written out of the series.

Well i have to admit V`s cutscenes are the best. But hell, that doesn`t mean sh*t if the story sucks. I don`t care about some flashy cinematic cutscenes if the story feels like it has been written in a couple of hours after the huge coke&wine party.

lol

GTA 2 are by far the most immersive and realistic. So GTA 2.

GAT V's cut scene is the best to date. You literally go into the cutscene the second you start the mission, no black screen with the name of the mission on the right corner anymore.

GTA V cutscenes. Felt as if you were like an another person watching the people talk, and felt more like a movie. It suits the game, since the game is overall an 'arcade' movie-type game. The cutscene was beautifully shot and edited, with better lighting, no stupid NPC bumps in the way, and the sound quality was better than previous games, especially GTA: San Andreas.

Conclusion, GTAV cutscenes suit the game. If cutscenes like this were in GTAIV or GTAVC, I wouldn't be happy seeing 'em.

Gta 5 for improvement, the other games had meaningful cutscenes as well for the storyline, but all cutscenes of gta 4 sucked in every category

GTA V. I think it's a very unique game in the way it was shot. I also loved some of the weird sudden zooms on the protagonists' face in awkward situations. Especially Trevor. It really added to the whole midlife madness theme the game was trying to portray. It was a cinematic masterpiece in terms of technical convenience as well.

GTA V had the better cutscenes, but GTA III-IV didn't have to rely on Michael Bay planes-crashing-into-planes-and-trains-blowing-up explosions to be considered palatable...

TBOGT did

I like the way cutscenes aren't separated from the gameplay by a black screen, but I'm not a big fan of that camera shaking.

III-IV.

Definitely III-IV/EFLC. As iiCriminnaal 49 said, I DO like the way cutscenes aren’t separated from the gameplay by a black screen. I also appreciate the fact that there’s no loading time. However, V’s cutscenes were NOT NEAR as entertaining as the ones in III-IV/EFLC, and I think that trumps everything else, because, well, this thread is about cutscenes’ content and not what’s surrounding them, after all.

5 simply because of the fluidity that came from technological advances. IV's come very very close as they had alot more soul to them than V's.

3D Era cutscenes had more soul than both though, imo.

GTA V cutscenes probably have the best quality. But then I remembered this comment from Ryo256

I really hate how GTA V's cutscenes break from traditional style. In every GTA, your character usually enter a room, mostly with more than one person doing something and then your character leaves as the main character in the cutscenes goes back to doing whatever they were doing before you came.

It sorta showed that other characters had some life to them and that usually they are involved with other characters in the world. It was a signature style that even GTA IV kept but in V it's gone. When you enter a cutscene you will start by zooming in on the main character in the cutscene and most of the time, it's just your character and few other dudes speak but rarely you will have a secondary or prop characters to put life into it.

Also some of the cutscenes are so stupid in this game that I realized that if you simply skip them, the game feels a lot better, especially the ones where there is just a lot of exposition and repetition of the same bullsh*t e.g Trevor being a jerk for the sake of being jerk.

And I must admit it made me think, especially the part about prop characters being virtually absent in V. I still would say V cutscenes are most professionally done but I guess the next best in that department, GTA IV probably has more immersive cutscenes. So I guess I choose IV.

I liked the reality TV cinema verite aesthetic of the cinematography in GTA V's story mode.
