Helicopter Disappearing

Earlier I got a notification about a special crate dropping in 3 game hours (6 minutes IRL), so I drove to the nearest heliport, which was the hospital, and saw a buzzard. However, the instant I pressed the Y button, the chopper disappeared. I figured it was a Pegasus vehicle whose owner just left the session. Then, I shelled out $1K for a Merryweather helicopter pickup. I shot the pilot and pressed Y as usual, but then again, the helicopter disappeared and along with my $1000.

 

Is this some glitch that others may have experienced, or was I having crappy connection?

Probably same case like those popping off vehicles in crowded public session.

lag and lag, happens to me when there's a lot of players, the worse is when your trying to get a jet and they just vanish the minute you touch it

I had the jet thing happen once, full server and I rode to Zancudo with a friend. He literally dropped me off at 5 different jets before we both ended up getting blown to bits by a tank. Glad to know that's actually a relatively "normal" thing.
