Did I really have to pay for his insurance?

So I was having a bit of fun sniping somebody in a free roam lobby when out of nowhere somebody with a souped up Turismo R mows me down and shoots me down. Fair enough, I respawned, sniped him while he was trying to drive away and went down to the gun store to purchase some fresh, steel coated .50 cal bullets when I noticed the Turismo guy coming back with vengeance. I hopped in a cop car and drove like there was no tomorrow, weaving in and out of parking lots trying to evade this guy. This goes on for a couple of minutes, him trying to sticky bomb me from his turismo until we reach a petrol station which I go straight past but he rams into and destroys himself in a monumental explosion that would make satan cry from his hellfire.

 

But oh no, I had to pay for this dickhead's car $6000+ car insurance for what now? I didn't inflict any damage on him or the vehicle apart from the sniper shot and I have to pay for his sh*tty misfortune of being a bad driver? Does anybody think I had to pay for that?

I agree with Elric, there must be more to the story. For example, AP Pistol tends to light up vehicles really fast. He could've damaged his own car with missed explosions, but if you were shooting back, it is possible that you incidentally gave it the 'fatal' blow.

Ahaha, I wish I hit the gas lid. But what happened was I turned around after passing the gas station and all I saw was a great ball of fire which was most likely from him hitting it at 100mph or maybe, just maybe a failed sticky bomb (he threw 4 on our chase).

Here's another oddity.

 

During a heated freeroam battle I used my heavy sniper on the gas tank of my own PV in an attempt to kill from someone who was behind it. I have millions so a few thousand is nothing. Then when I called the insurance to get it replaced there was NO CHARGE and nobody else had already paid.

 

I can't remember which PV it was at the time, might've been either a Zentorno or Entity, defintely one I should've had to pay for.

most of ppl think this is logic ( even though it's grand theft auto ) , but balance is balance

imagine if no BS and no penalty . ur car got blew over and over and u have to pay the insurance over and over

Last night I was screwing around in a solo session with my mission car (an armored, blacked out Washington) and decided to ram it into a gas station, just for laughs. Well, once I respawn and call Mors, instead of a fee there's a big, fat NO CHARGE there. I think that maybe there's an insurance glitch with the gas stations.

Shoot the engine till it catches fire.... Then run away.

 

Had a guy in a XF sticky bomb me. I shot him dead a split second before my car blew up, destroying his as well. I had to pay his insurance. No fair -_-

I destroyed PV's when I get attacked by randoms in the street and I'm on foot. I'm minding my own business and get defend myself and get a bad sport warning. That's bad news if you aren't instigating anything.
