I never bother with any of the collections quests, they just aren’t worth it and the maps are so big that it just takes too long for me.

In VC and SA they're kind of worth it because you get a very generous amount of free weapons and ammo from your safehouses as reward (for hidden packages in VC and tags/photos/horseshoes in SA). Also it doesn't take that long to collect them because the cities aren't that big and most aren't complicated to get to. I think it's worth doing early on to get good and plentiful weapons before you'd otherwise have access to them or be able to afford them, very convenient to have them at your safehouse too. In IV or V they're pretty much worthless unless you're going for 100% though, extremely tiresome to collect due to the large map, how inaccessible many of them are and annoying stuff like always getting the cops after you when shooting pigeons in IV, and worthless rewards.

I would say the same for LCS. Most LCS packages are easy to get to, and really help with passing the earlier set of missions. It helps that Portland is a relatively easy area to drive through.

Oh yeah probably worth it in all 3D era games, it's just too long since I played ones other than VC or SA to remember well enough.

- I've never gained 100% completion on any GTA game, but did 100% on Scarface: The World is Yours once somehow. I'm a bad fan... :(

- Side-missions with goals requiring a long time to complete feel tedious AF to me, the only ones I've managed to complete so far are the pizza delivery (on both VC and LCS) and noodle delivery (LCS only) ones because they give extra health. The rest just put me off right away.:kekw:

I hate collectibles, but i still did them because Im want 100% in any GTA .

My worst experience was doing 100% in LCS on tablet. Luckily I had controller.

When I was a kid, me and some friends used to call "PCG-600" to the PCJ-600. That's because we played GTA Vice City, and the tipography in this game makes the "J" looks like a "G". I had that name so taken for granted that even in San Andreas and Liberty City Stories I read the name as "PCG-600", games where the "J" was more notorious. It took me years to realize that the real name of the bike was "PCJ-600". That still makes me laugh.

You're not alone on that 👀

There was also the Sentinel that came across as a "Sentind" to me for the same font reasons. SA's clearer texts were a godsend for finding out what the names were really meant to be.

I don't expect anything from GTA 6. I'm sure that game will offer a more or less decent single player content filled with bugs and will be focused on the online part with tons of futile content for the cash cow players.

I still use the waypoint marker in GTA IV, GTA V and even RDR2 despite being able to easily navigate these maps from memory. I guess it's just that when I see this feature, it feels like a missed oportunity not to use it

I recall intentionally calling the Top Fun van "Top Bun" after failing the "Demolition Man" mission in VC once because the "J" looked like a "B" in that Rage Italic font.

I guess it happens to everybody. ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

I on the other hand have started actively trying not to use it. I realised how much of the world/scenery I miss by looking at the minimap all the time, often when I don't even need to, and having the marker there makes me do it even more. So I try to look at it less and look at the actual place where I'm driving/riding more instead and find it much more enjoyable and immersive. I'd turn the minmap off but it's usually not practical (for example in GTA IV I'd love to turn it off more but then you can't see your wanted level, and it's pretty much never practical if you're doing missions or side missions since they make use of it a lot, so I only do it if I'm just going to drive or walk around and not cause trouble). It's a shame you can't customise what is and isn't turned off on the screen more.

Top Bun sounds like the perfect name for a Burger Shot delivery van. :yee:

I remember being kinda hyped about finding all the Top Fun locations back when the RC Bandit Race and Demolition Man were the only RC missions I knew, even though I wasn't any good at controlling the little buggers. The RC Raider race was definitely the last straw that killed that hype. :harrumph:

Sometimes when playing GTA V story mode after some missions I want a specific switch scene for a certain character, and will seriously make a quick save and reload it like more than 10 times until I get it.

Yep, almost like dipping a burger bun into tea during... well, tea time.😋

I remember discovering the RC Baron Race when I first played VC, I tried it out but was "unable" to play the mission because I couldn't get the plane to take off. I didn't know that the aircraft need two extra control buttons (NUM6 and MUM9) for proper controlling. I recall how I used to speed the plane up the stunt jump ramp in the far south-west corner of the rooftop thinking it'll start flying by itself.🤪

Years later when I finally learned how to fly the Maverick without tilting it sideways using the arrow keys and then properly learned how to control aircraft with SA's infamous "Learning to Fly" mission, I was "WTH, go back and try that one mission!" and had a helluva time playing that RC side-mission.😀

Oh yeah! I know the RC Raider Race, that one was a straight fufing killjoy when I did it back in 2013. So much that I had to use my (then-newfound) modding skills to swap out the heli's retarded handling with something better (don't remember what I replaced it with, tho).🤔

Even though I quickly became very acquainted with the noise of an incoming rocket in GTA IV's multiplayer, I had not actually ever experienced it during my original SP playthrough, with the scripted rocket in the Pegorino chase having been the only one I dealt with.

Outside of the rooftop Russians in Hostile Negotiation (which I never saw because I didn't even know any helicopter spawn points then) and Dimitri in the Deal ending, I don't even think there are any other RPG wielders that can kill you in the story mode?

At the time San Andreas came out, I was only able to play the game through my older brother's PS2. Unfortunately, he was quite heavy into being vegan at the time and then the Cluckin' Bell commercial came on. Next thing I know, he's hitting eject faster than a nutjob with a nuke button, snapping the disc in half and then hurling both halves across the room like a meat-free ninja. Took me years to get it into his head that it was supposed to be a parody and wasn't calling for the beheading of every chicken out there.

Thankfully, I had my own copy not long after and could finally continue my enjoyment of the game.

I'm right there with you. The amount of time I spent messing with V trying to see every switch scene is too much to count.

Space Cowboy

When I first started playing Vice City at a very young age, it took me weeks to figure out that there is a button to enter the car.  What's more interesting is that I wasn't even trying to enter the car when I loaded up the game, I just remember walking around Vice City, exploring every alley and thinking it's mindblowingly detailed game and that kept me entertained for quite a while.

Before that I haven't really played many videogames, probably the most advanced one I played beforehand was the very first Tomb Raider and the level of detail in Vice City is just incomparable, which is why I was entertained for so long lol.

I would enjoy GTA San Andreas even more if the paramedics could not resurrect my burnt victims like in the previous episodes.

There's also Marty Boldenow, a Most Wanted criminal in Alderney.

I find some of the over the top street reporting segments ( WCTR in San Andreas and Weasel News in GTA IV) annoying for some reason.

Also I don't like Richard Burns and Mike Whitley, the street reporters of the respective news channels mentioned though idk if they are intentionally made to be unlikeable

The way Whitley accents "Weazel News" makes me cringe lmao

Don't know about Mike Whitley (haven't heard him yet), but Richard Burns sounds really hilarious to me NGL.

+1 point for his live call to The Electron Zone show on LCFR in LCS asking about how to get an email in the shower, lmao.:kekw:

The mere fact that at one point, I actually had Trevor as my most hated protagonist while liking pretty much every other GTA protagonist. That’s kinda cheap on my part. NGL. I mean, there’s other GTA protagonists who have just as big of issues as him. It’s kinda funny really how Toni Cipriani and Trevor Philips alike can literally go from sympathetic and loyal people one day to complete lunatics involved in blowing stuff up or cannibalism the next day. As for Victor Vance, he’s practically an anti-drug person who becomes the founder of a whole drug empire. Like, WTF? Isn’t that supposed to be an oxymoron in itself? I swear. LCS, VCS, and V definitely have the weakest protagonists in the series IMO. So what if LCS and VCS “breathed a lot of fresh air into Victor Vance and Toni Cipriani?” Lol. They were pretty much bland characters from start to finish. Heck! Singling Trevor out as the only weak GTA protagonist is kinda cheap too as far as I’m concerned. Michael literally can’t make up his mind whether he’s loyal and sympathetic or just a flat out traitor. As for Franklin, he’s more like a walking plot device as opposed to an actual character.

Niko, Johnny, Luis, Claude, Tommy, and CJ are the only good GTA protagonists in my book. Just my opinion and all that jazz.

I didn't know what Total conversions was until today 😅

I thought it was the name of someones mod lmao

As I understand it it's any mod that changes a significant portion of the game (or have I still got it wrong fml)

It means to "Totally Convert" the game into something else, like my man @Ash_735's now-dead VCSPC mod (which was great BTW) that completely clears out the OG SA and uses it's game engine as base for a potential PC version of VCS.

I used to dislike GTA IVs driving and San Andreas' driving used to be my favorite. I think I may prefer driving in GTA IV over San Andreas now.

Playing San Andreas after a while and the vehicles seem to have almost no weight and they accelerate really weirdly idk how to say exactly. Maybe it's because I've been playing IV for a while and it may be just a case of getting used to San Andreas mechanics again but the driving doesn't feel as good as I remember

When I was young I found GTA:SA stupid, towards grounded Vice City it was step back for me. I just found weird that we are flying with jetpacks and do some weird missions.

No when Im adult, I found this game hilarious and probably best of all. This game is for me something freeing from real life. These cities feel so clean, protagonists, NPCs are just weird in good way.

I probably miss those games, which are giving you fun free time without stomping you with realistic and politics driven approach.Im not saying that realistic approach is bad, but there needs to be balance.

I still can get over how bad is Trilogy defective edition, Mafia:DE is how to do it but trilogy is how not to do it ever... First game from rockstar on PC that I never wanted to play. We live in sad world...

Kudos to silent patches skygfx and ps2 models mod, thats how I think about remaster,
