I don’t jack a lot of vehicles unless I’m in pvp and trying to chase someone.

Which did you hate? I enjoyed the Burglary, gambling, basketball and pool games, but holy sh*t are the schools, trucking and pimping missions boring and frustrating  as hell.

In my opinion, every single vehicle side-mission is awful and not fun. I don't miss this at all.

Not to mention awful collectibles, such as oysters... what were they thinking?

Ever since I've played Scarface: The World is Yours back in 2015, I find all non-hostile peds to be innocent. Nowadays when I play a GTA game, I don't kill any non-hostile peds and only steal parked vehicles or vehicles that are being driven by street criminals or gang members because, y'know, they must've stolen it from someone else...

On a side note: I find LCS' K-Jah both hilarious and entertaining at the same time. The Jamaican accent sounds funny and the songs are really great to listen.

Yesterday I had a wetdream where I was banging the Cluckin bell employee from GTA SA and he was very scared and I told him to calm down, take a deep breath , close his eyes and trust me  and he looked at me and he was very frightened like if I was raping him or something

And when I woke up

I found a feather in my trousers

Now I can't see the Cluckin Bell employee the same way again

Then again I have a PS5 where 60fps and 4K is standard so it's not as if I'm stuck with old hardware.

It probably helps that I don't leave GTA IV for too long (Maybe a couple of months at a time) so I'm really used to it so going back isn't that jarring to me, but I've only played the console versions of GTA IV.

I mean theres always sleeping dogs for a gta iv alternative!

Atleast they give nice rewards though, such as firefighter makes you fireproof, paramedic increases health health, vigilante increases armor, burglary gives infinite sprint, etc etc

Not only is this significantly reduced in HD era (except Chinatown Wars), there's no good rewards for doing them which I'm certain is probably because R* become way too obsessed with realism and story that they forgot to make the gameplay actually rewarding

I've been thinking about this. While it's true the 3D era vehicle based side missions are more rewarding it doesn't change the fact they're a complete slog and chore to get through. For example everytime I play Vice City I do the pizza boy missions to get increased health, but after that I never touch them again.

It's not they feel "fun" and more of an obligation to get the reward which isn't a good feeling to have.. Side missions should be something you want to do. Not something you feel like you should do to get a reward for it  Whereas with GTA IV in particular I don't mind doing the taxi missions, vigilante, most wanted etc even if there isn't a physical reward for doing them (besides a trophy/achievement). Probably because the driving physics/shooting mechanics are so much better it makes up for it in more ways than one.

The only vehicle side mission that should return and be permanent is the cab driver missions imo. I hated that they were missing in IV aside from the very short Roman cab missions.

I feel like the only side mission that got it right was the pimping side mission. At least you had variety with because sometimes customers would try to run without paying or they would attack your prostitutes. Other than that I agree that in retrospect most side missions feel like a chore, especially the paramedic side mission.

I think every side mission should be fun AND have a good reward, or it can gtfo. They did it with Red Dead Redemption in 2010 so there's no excuse.

Idk why they became so stingy with rewards in HD era GTA. There's literally no good reason for it.

Obviously they should be striving for a balance of both, but if I had pick one it would still be how the HD era does it as the side missions fit in better contextual  thus making me more interested in completing them.

I agree there’s really no excuse for not making them feel as rewarding, but I’d feel less comfortable if R* didn’t improve them in other ways instead of just having the same standard taxi, paramedic, fire truck missions etc that had barely changed since GTA III so getting the “rewards” once meant you had pretty much got it all and the hassle simply wasn’t worth it IMO.

Oh yeah if it's one or the other I'll take the fun mission with no reward/crappy reward. I just don't see why they'd ever not be able to do a good reward though. Making the mission good is the hard part, once they've done that seems like it should be easy to just throw you money/clothing/a weapon/a vehicle/something else cool for completing it instead of actively choosing to give you nothing or something lousy. I get it with a couple of the GTA V ones because it's deliberately done as a joke/to screw you for a reason (eg the submarine parts or the Epsilon missions) but other than that they should step it up.

I never reached Algonquin in my first playthrough of IV years ago. I would make it to the “Bohan” arc (post-Roman’s Sorrow, when Niko starts doing work for Manny, Elizabeta and Playboy X) and just abandon the rest of the story in favour of dicking around instead. Which in hindsight is absolutely hilarious, given that one of the earliest missions you can do for Playboy X is what unlocks the island. I must have been one mission away… one mission!

This reminds me. When I was a kid and played Grand Theft Auto III I've never unlocked Staunton Island.

I guess I only needed Portland to have tons of fun.

Whenever I play GTA I think about this forum. When I'm playing SA I think of all the SA Fanboys like this is where they live and this is what they keep on arguing about. When I play IV I think of Algonquin Assassin and my fellow IV fans, when I play V I think of V fans and so on.

During my very first few playthroughs of SA, I always used to be the first one to reach Ganton in the first mission with zero damage. I dunno why, but doing that seemed like fun.

I have to admit that it amazes me that by the time GTA VI comes out the gap between GTA V and GTA VI will be older than some of the squeakers who play GTAO who weren't even alive in 2013.

Here's my biggest confession I guess...

I actually like GTA IV very much but I pretend to hate it because of this guy who told me to shut up because I joked about GTA V will be praised when GTA VI will be released. but since he dissappeared, I kinda feel safe saying this now. I still hate the overprotective fanboys.

That’s not a confession. We all knew along you like/love GTA IV.

Embrace the truth my son.😉
