What is the truth of J lager and Blarney beer hats?

I have personally obtained quite a few special crates recently, and have had no luck on any day to receive these 2 beer hats. Others claim they were unlocked. Does anyone know what the truth is? Can someone who can read code explain what's really happening? Thank you.

It was random, I got J-Lager while a friend got Patriot, some pretty weird stuff.

No one knows, very few have one, even fewer have BOTH.

For my 2 cents I think Rockstar genuinely thought they had included them in the Special Crates event

weekend around Independence Day but slipped up in the code as we all know crates back then

were very unreliable.

 

So rather than admit they forgot to include them and have unhappy fans they randomly through them

into a crate and if you happen to be lucky person to get that crate good result!

 

SInce today is the Patriot Beer Hat i'm gonna be going for every crate just to see if one of these two

appears.

Really no system to it..

I got the JLager today on the 3rd crate.

First 2 crates were Patriots.

It seems as though these two hats are both tied to one of the other four. People were reporting a very slim chance of collecting Blarney's on the day when Supa Wet was dropping, and the same is true of J Lager on the Patriot day (I personally collected a Pisswasser on the Benedict day, which suggests that they're all interconnected). This is the best explanation I have as to what is truly going on with these hats in the game code.

 

Here is a link to a very informative thread that touches on this subject. Very few trolls throughout, which I feel is always a good thing when you're looking for solid info.

Now that they've announced on the Newswire that they'll be re-dropping the Supa Wet hat (along with the Please Stop Me mask and the Vivisection t-shirt) this weekend, this may be your last shot at a chance of collecting Blarney's. I know I'll be tearing up the skies of Los Santos on the day Supa Wet is dropping!

I've been dealing with Support and it seems no one at Tier1 has any idea what the truth about these hats is.

Based on what I've gathered: they were supposed to be as common as Patriot, Benedict, Supa Wet, and Pisswasser, but for some reason they just weren't.

Those that used the character-swap glitch back then couldn't get them that way, either.

Players with mod tools could get and keep them and transfer them to new-gen consoles.

Rockstar did not intend for them to be part of the Festive Event's special crate drops... but... some people did get them (on all consoles) by freak glitch. No one posted any repeatable method to get them (no "it's the 5th crate, in a row, in the same session" or "you have to be wearing a specific shirt/hat combo").

 

In short: Most of the players that have them got them via mods on old-gen consoles (either for themselves or in a mod-hosted session). A rare few got them by chance during this event or by getting Support to unlock one or both for them.

Today is the make-up day for the Supa Wet beer hat (until approx 8 am GMT) and I just collected Blarney's beer hat (confirming my suspicions posted above).

 

The way that I managed this (as have many others) is by playing a mission, VOTING for freemode afterwards, and dropping into a public lobby that has a crate drop ALREADY IN PROGRESS (you'll know if you've found an appropriate lobby if you immediately receive the 10-, 5-, or 3-hour warning).

 

We still have approx 10 hours until Supa Wet stops dropping, so happy hunting!

It's one glitch that is working in the favor of the individual that it happens to.

What is the big deal with these beer hats? I know we all have person taste but who gives a sh*t which hat you got? Ill never understand the importance of getting everything. This isn't pokemon, no need to collect everything.

I got both the J Lager and Blarneys on the Patriot Beer Hat "day", since the crate drop changed at 6 P.M. where I live. So December 30th and 31st. Unfortunately, like a few others, they disappeared from our inventory at some point, but I called Rockstar Support and the guy I was talking to, Greg, just with a few clicks here and there on his computer gave them back, because they do have great support. The importance of these beer hats is just the fact that they were supposed to be in the game earlier, Rockstar messed up on coding, and they decided to add them later, like Heists. I have every piece of unique clothing, and the parachute bag, because I like having them all, even though I'll never wear most of them.
