Will future editions of GTA be the only game we'll ever need?

It'll depend what each individual wants from a game.

 

I suppose so, but I fail to see why anyone would buy a dedicated racing sim, in which all you can do is race, when they could have a GTA type game that offers this AND everything else too.

 

And I stress again, I know GTA is currently a Jack of all trades, master of none, but future future future.

 

 

GTA isn't a racing game. Sure it has a lot of variety but each game type does not surpas that of a dedicated game like Forza or CoD.

 

 

GTA isn't because it's more than that? So no it's not a racing game. it's a racer, first and third person shooter, ext,ext-

Racing in GTA is competitive option. It just can't compete against the likes of Grand Turismo on it's own but it HAS a racing game in it as it DOES do everything one can do in a racing game which is- um- race. =)

 

Kinda like saying Mario Kart 8 or F-Zero wasn't an actual racing game just because it's not ultra realistic or uses actual real life cars.

 

 

The thing about the above exchange between me and am30, regarding the racing thing, is that he completely chose to ignore the fact that I stressed GTA is (in its current state) a Jack of all trades, master of none. Future GTA installments WILL be able to compete in these areas, and that's my argument as to why it may be the only game we'll ever need.

 

 

I didn't choose to ignore anything, though you need to accept that other will hold different opinions to your own narrow view. If you care to read properly what I wrote (or get an adult to help you as that seems to be required), I am hinting at the whole jack of all trades, master of none scenario. The game is full of watered down game modes compared to that of dedicated games for various gaming activities.

 

If you are really into racing or flying, you're not going to buy GTA are you? You're going to buy games like Forza and Birds of Steel. GTA is lacking in a lot of areas compared with other games before you can say it would be the only game you'll ever need.

 

OP stated that gta does several game modes well but those individual modes aren't as strong as games that solely focus on delivering the best experience for that one game mode (obviously). He wasn't disagreeing with you there. He's saying that as gta progresses and gets more money added to it's already enormous budget, then it's race mode can compete with forza, first person vs cod, etc.

The Last of Us is overrated. The story was completely predictable, which made the game pretty boring. Every little bit of the story that was suppose to be a "cliff hanger" moment or a "shocking" moment, was not.

As much as I love GTA, and Online mainly, I still enjoy playing other games and that won't change. I get bored if I spend too much time on one thing, my small but growing PS4 game collection is currently getting pretty much equal use, apart from Wolfenstien that I haven't tried yet.

 

I doubt that'll ever change, tbh we don't need any games but I enjoy having a good few to play on.

 

And then again, they'll never replace the master imo

This old thing still gets as much use as the PS4!

Also since i got pro evolution soccer 2015 i havent played grand theft auto in a few days

Real life simulator therapy in first person view... GTA 5 is one of the best open world games, no doubt. Sometimes I just want to unplug and do something else.

 

The appeal of GTA is that you can do anything without consequence: Stealing, murder, you name it. So lack of story = make your own.

 

I just feel that there is so much potential that just has not been unlocked. No casino games, no mansions, no Breaking Bad meth cooking in Blaine county, no wildlife on land and in the sea online. With the PS4 there should be no console limitations any more.

In world full of benches, beach chairs, stumps, and hot tubs, not sitting down is a deal breaker. First online multiplayer crime sim to offer that and im all in. f*ck gta.

Every game I play, I check if I can sit in any bench, chair etc but let down. The only one that didn't let me down was Skyrim. If there is a whole world full of benches, I expect I'll be able to sit in them.
