The new generation of consoles there is no more the option to choose the time that the character spends his time ?

 

as resting or with family or at work... it does not serve for anything ?

Some of these life-style choices were you had to dedicate time to each activity, usually altered the appearance of your character depending on which you chose (high amount of illegal work + lack of sleep never ended up well).

 

Now, on PS4 and XB1, you can now alter you characters appearance without counting hours to look great.

I think the only changes you can make only effect appearance, I never checked the base attribute stats as they are easy enough to max out anyway.

I also think life style choices makes a difference when selecting cloths for your character but I could be wrong. He also gets pissed when I'm changing what he's wearing. Like he's not agreeing with what I'm choosing.
