Locking Your Personal Vehicle

I never lock. It's funny watching the icon travel all over the map, by different people at times.

Why do people do this? I always leave my vehicle unlocked because it adds to the spirit of the game. It's Grand Theft Auto. If people steal my car, it's fun to try to chase them back and take it. However, more and more people are locking their cars now-a-days, and worse, they leave it locked during missions. In the past few hours alone, I've had people wait at the start of missions for me to get into their car, but I can't, because they have their settings to prevent people from getting in their car. Yet they still wait. And they think that I'm the idiot when they're the ones who aren't letting me in.

OMG... wow. I was about to write EXACTLY why I leave my driver side locked... and then you make an idiot out of yourself by writing in bold letters "they leave it locked during missions".....

THAT is the perfect time to lock your car. Ok, I'll go by your logic for a second..... "Hmmm, I want to get on GTA V online and do some co-op missions... I will have fun doing a mission with other players, I will also leave my car unlocked......"

Mission starts, another player steals my car... no other cars around, I stand there for the entire mission playing with myself... unless of course I want to run for 5 minutes to find another car... meanwhile, my teammates (one of whom stole my car) are all completing the mission.

OH BOY OP!!! That sounds like oodles of fun... standing around during a mission because I left my car unlocked and someone took off with it.

I used to leave my car unlocked (way back when online first came out), then I discovered I could lock my car.... one of the greatest discovers I have ever made in GTA V online (the ability to lock my car).

Next time use your brain please :)

They're waiting out of the goodness of their hearts because they're nice enough to wait for your car-less ass and give you a ride.

OR maybe they are calling in their Buzzard to make the mission easier for everyone. In which case, there's no way in hell that I'm giving you a ride just so that you can take control of my Buzzard's rockets from the passenger seat.

This. Really should be a option to not let passengers take buzzard rockets.

Why even do it. The passenger gets to fire 1 slow rocket with slow reload time that has to be manual aimed.

The driver gets 2 faster rockets that load faster and are auto aimed.

What's the point of a passenger even taking the rockets?

I agree, I think the only reason to do it is for more challenge because lets be honest, these GTA missions aren't hard enough. I used to think taking over the rockets manually was completely pointless until I played a team deathmatch during an event where the buzzards had to take out the players in the construction site. My teammate came up with the idea to aim manually and it was SO much easier. I got at least 3 or 4 kills right off the bat. In a weird way, it's actually more accurate and safer as long as the pilot knows what they're doing.

Or, after he drives off, you could switch car to "no one", thereby kicking the thief from your car and then either go retirieve it or just wait till he is far enough away, call your maechanic and have it delivered to you.

Or, rather than having to go to the menu, setting vehicle access to no one, and then having to call my mechanic to retrieve my vehicle I could just leave the access set to no one before I even start the mission. You can waste time calling your mechanic to bring your personal if you didn't come to the mission prepared.

Left a remote bomb on mine. Got a party of four on the granger I left near them...so they could use it for a get away vehicle from the cops. Unfortunately they died do to the gas tank exploding randomly.

Right, I agree. I was repying mostly to fish61324 saying he woul dhave to stand around for the whole mission.

I'll edit my quotes.

Happens to me too, they pull up near me and honk/bump into me, but their doors are always locked

Then when I run to my own car/bike, they spend the whole time trying to ram into me or shoot my ride/tires

I have my stuff set to passenger though, doesn't make sense when a mission starts and there's all kinds of supercars spawned, but someone will find some reason to run to my sh*tty ride and drive away with it

Nope... I like to say I'm keeping my car locked, but I never do it. Lately, I've been driving players in the rank 100's who happen to have their car next to them... Fast cars mind you.

The general census seems to only like Radio Los Santos and West Coast Classics also, even though I like several songs from those stations, mainly new ones. I don't think they want to be in my car with Non-Stop Pop, LSRR, Rebel Radio, VBR, and Radio Mirror Park blasting. :p

I used to leave it unlocked till people kept on stealing it during missions, so i set it to passengers now.

Yesterday i forgot left it unlocked for 1 mission, a guy steals it, i hear him going on about what a cool car over the mic, so i let him drive it for this mission. The next mission it's set to passengers. He gets in cracks the sh*ts when he realises he can't drive it so he gets out and blows it up. I ordered another only for him to blow it up again at the end of the mission. While i hear him abusing me the whole time. Normally i wouldn't take such crap but it was late and i was tired. Do a lot of people think like that???

I keep mine on passengers only. Too many randumbs love holding down triangle rather than just lightly tapping it with their chubby little fingers, resulting in them carjacking me in the middle of a firefight.

Heh. This was here before.

Anyway. It's open. Man, if you wanna drive the Buffalo (not Franklin's), then you deserve to drive mine. Not like anyone's so eager to drive it anyway.

I think you're an idiot for expecting a ride like some hippy hitchhiker, we're not your fuc*ing chauffeur

Get your own car and bring it to the mission

People don't want to be a chauffeur, so they wait right next to me, honk their horn several times, and then drive off in frustration? Talk about sending mixed messages.

They're waiting out of the goodness of their hearts because they're nice enough to wait for your car-less ass and give you a ride. Now you come on here a complain like a little bitch because you're not getting your free ride fast enough..

Seriously, I would of left you to rot

Geez dude, relax. What's with your hard-ass attitude? No need for it.

i keep mine locked because it's my vehicle i don't need others putting their scrubby little finger prints in it and even worse touching my radio. however if someone messages me first for a ride i will unlock for passengers. also i don't see where your getting that this is something that has been happening more lately OP, it has always been like this since i started last year. from what i can tell the majority of the mindset has been if you keep your vehicles unlocked your the idiot. really though, personally i see nothing wrong with whether you keep your vehicle locked or unlocked, but let's be honest also and admit that with the player mindset these days you pretty much have to lock them.

I leave it on passenger, im a nice person but i wont let anyone touch my Jester with their crusty fingers and touching my radio. If they manage to steal it, i got a nice remote bomb waiting for them.

I leave it open just for fun.. And if they do steal my ride I just let them get far.. Kick them out and request it back again. No need for lock.

This :)

Really? This doesnt work for me. When I tried it told me the vehicle was occupied. I was like no sh!t why else would I choose the empty pv option. Must have been a glitch.

Game is way more fun when other players can actually grand theft your auto.

I tend to keep mine set to passengers only mainly because of people driving off in my car in missions leaving me to steal another car nearby. You would be surprised at the number of people on contact missions who don't bring in a car in with them and they don't call their mechanic to deliver one.

I am tempted to set it to open as I have seen missions fail numerous times because of the car status e.g. the last person alive trying to quickly get into the nearest car (for example somebody's PV) to escape with a mission objective but finding it locked and ending up dying when being pursued.

For the same reasons as you I leave it at passengers. So annoying when my car drives off leaving their crappy panto behind and the missions half done by the time I get there, at least give me a lift! But as you say, there is the trade off that it can leave people vulnerable.

I like my sandking though, its great to drive into battle and park up as a mobile cover to hide behind, but a pain in the ass if someone then gets in and drives off leaving you exposed!

I leave it on passengers only. This may sound a bit stuck up but I don't want no losers scratching my baby. I barely let my friends drive.

I not only leave my car unlocked, I also drive cars like the Roosevelt around so randoms want to drive it. They're my taxi service. I hate driving.

I use to have my doors unlocked but like most people I switched it to crew and friends. Ill then switch it back to everyone if I'm playing with people that aren't on my friends list and they seem cool.

Always unlocked because it's more fun. Last sesh I had my Pamto and some strangers took it for some spins.

If an enemy grabs it just boot them which is always funny mid-chase/getaway.

I only recently left my car unlocked cause I thought it would be funny for someone to drive it around. It was my gold and chrome adder so if they wrecked it they'd have to pay a hefty bill.

Not only did he not wreck it...but after his joy ride, he put it back in the same spot he got it from. I couldn't believe it.

But my reasons for it is, sometime I want to drive my own car. I don't want someone taking off and leaving me behind. I have it near me for a fast getaway.

Most times I have it on Crew and Friends...when I'm in a mission, I'll switch it to everyone...but some folks are so impatient, they don't give you enough time to pull up the interaction to switch before they're running off to get some random NPC vehicle.
