Mr_Leone
Thought he was a good guy who was loyal to his brothers and cared for the people he loved until the end. What's the deal? Why is he so low on peoples list?

donnits
He's my #3, under Nicky Boy and that mute asshole, so I like him, but I'm sure you aren't looking for this type of answer I suppose It's because they can't look under his ravaged, drug-addled exterior to find his heart of a reactionary prick. Otherwise, he'd fit right in, and they would love him. Edited December 30, 2014 by TheKillerDonuts

The Dedito Gae
Maybe people are not fond of the biker culture, they are Trevor fanboys or maybe they find him boring (guilty) I don't hate him (same as any gta character) but i would have prefered to Johnny being more of a jerk or/and a psycho, when i found out that we were playing as biker in TLAD i got really happy, i won't say i ended up dissapointed with the experience but i was expecting something else from johnny, he ended up being too similar to Niko for me, i would had prefered to experience another type of ctiminal more lowlife and hellraiser, more akin to the biker culture. Algonquin Assassin
I get the impression CJ, Luis and Trevor are all generally more disliked than Johnny. Anyway he's no Niko or Tommy, but I like him. As you said he's loyal which is a trait I love in protagonists. theGTAking101 and Nopheros

Peachrocks
I think cus he came after Niko and the fact he wasn't a stereotype is what hurt his popularity. Whether people care to admit it or not, people love generalisations and easy to understand characters. Johnny K however on the surface is a 'whiny loser' with a bunch of generic looking friends who do stuff. However Johnny K is in my opinion the deepest gta iv/V protagonist comfortably, yes even more so than Niko who I agree while a good character, he isn't as deep as people think. A lot of the detail however either goes over people's heads or they haven't interacted enough with Terry, Clay and Jim. One particular quote was spoken about on the tlad forum about what it actually meant and these guys are tlad fans and some didn't quite get the meaning. I refer to Johnny's response to Leavis when he asks Johnny about how his giving the finger to the man. Point being these are people who bothered... Heaven help the dumb majority that doesn't which of course works against Johnny's popularity. Still the backlash over him being 'written out' because the bad fan fiction character said so is very much real. Officer Ronson
Because people are able to not like things, it's as simple as that, but maybe because TLAD wasn't as exciting for some as TBOGT was, so even if the character is good story wise some people might get a bad impression from him gameplay wise for some reason. Fuzzknuckles
sh*tty, boring, depressive character that wasted 100 hours of my time 'redeeming' himself, only to find that a few years later, he's back on meth and getting a stomping from the only protag worse than him. That's why, for me. OneManCrimeWave and slowburn29 2 Signatures are dumb anyway.

Mister Pink
There's something called opinions. I'm baffled by this. People don't like JK because "there's something called opinions?" Why even bother spaming the thread with this nonsense? I'll admit, I didn't finish TLATD but I will soon. I liked JK and the story because it was reminding me of Sons of Anarchy so I can't give a good answer. However people seem to use his drug use as a sort of excuse... However I think that's only in defence when people were pissed off that he got his head stomped in. "So what he was a druggie" I don't know, I like JK but I also liked seeing his demise. People come and go. I actually said a long time ago that I'd love to kill a protagonist from a previous GTA but I was thinking of something a little more ceremonious than the Trevor thing. Seemed like a cheap thrill. Gone off topic, sorry Edited December 30, 2014 by Mister Pink Gnocchi Flip Flops 1 RUBBΣR░J♢HNNY (スオッ)
MrDeSanta
He was one of my best GTA protags. But the reasons for what the OP is asking may be various; -they didn`t play TLAD -TLAD is only a short DLC with 22 main missions and they don`t even consider him that important -they`ve played V before TLAD so they just couldn`t loose that feel of Johnny is being pussy in V -they hate bikers or heavy metal music Those could be the reasons. Fortunately i`ve played TLAD before V so that didn`t change my good opinion on Johnny. He will always be one of the most charismatic GTA protagonists with great voice acting. Nothing was unique about him and I don't see how he qualifies as a supposed "badass" that everyone calls him. Why Johnny was a badass? To me because he had a strong personality, he was smart and loyal but yet he was the man of authority. He didn`t take no crap from nobody, not even from Billy in the begining when Billy was still the chapter leader. He had balls, infact he was so brave that he didn`t give a sh*t if he dies. This is confirmed by his own quotations during the shootouts; "I don`t care if i die" "let`s get this over with" "kill me already" Now if this isn`t a badass than i don`t know what it is. HuskyTwitter
I completely understand why people like Johnny and love the whole biker theme, but he just doesn't appeal to me that much other than being a badass biker. The only time I truly liked his character was when he was talking to Stubbs' butler and stuff like that. I'm just one idiot with one opinion, so Johnny can be your favorite, but he's just not my type of character.
Flesh-n-Bone
I really can't comment on him because I never played TLAD. But I can say that from what I've seen, he's nowhere near as entertaining as Trevor for me to leave a bad impression on T because of that cutscene.
