v is just a map mod for gta iv. im sorry, but after seeing v, even iv seems to be a masterpiece. and also, f*ck trevor, nobody likes that monkey, he is just annoying and he makes cj better in my eyes. i said cj, yes. think about that.

I understand V has it's flaws, but that's no reason to hate the game like that.

And let's not turn this to another V bashing thread.

I got fed up with it at the 15/20 mark. The actual idea was really good and is good for extending the game for those interested but the constant hit and runs were beyond ridiculous. and were not fun. Good idea but not implemented well enough.

I think that this topic is going off topic.

If you ask me, I thought V was pretty good but the mini games we're annoying especially Golf. I also hate switching back to 3d because of the controls I have to get used to them again.

Anyways that being said, I voted the attacks kept the game alive after the storyline. I wish there was a topic for this with the Gang Wars for SA.

EDIT: In my opinion, other gangs attacking other gangs sites is what makes it interesting.

I think that the more civilized way Vice City had it (just buy it without shooting) was better. And the cutscenes also kept the storyline alive, not just the gameplay.

Is this how you play all GTA games?

Ah, f*ck.........

I gotta do this again?! :p

In a few days, I am doing another VCS playthrough to 100% and with another 12 Special Vehicles in my possession, like my first save. So across 2 Save Files, I will have the best 24 Special Vehicles that exist in VCS! :)

the best part was the shooting! i loved the "kill everybody > buy the building > choose what its going to be > see the construction" period system!

What sucks is when you kill them all and take it over, immediately follows the Sharks or Bikers trying to take over another one of your Empires. If you go to defend said empire before you buy the new one you just took over, by the time you return, another Gang will have already took the Empire over. It's really annoying...

yea well i know it was annoying some times, but after you completed the game, and its %100, you kinda beg the game to give you some new missions, and those gang attacks are all you have, which makes the empire system golden in my eyes.

After 100%, I like to just enjoy the Special Vehicles I collected from the Missions.

Furthermore, after 100%, you can do the Empire Missions over and over. You don't need to wait til 100% to defend the Empires. In fact, how it even possible? You need to take over all 30 Empires for 100%. If you don't take them all over (which will then STOP all the attacks), you won't have 100%...

Also, the Empire nonsense is good to get out of the way, cuz later in the game if you want to obtain some Special Vehicles like the indestructible Yola from Unfriendly Competition, you won't be able to get it easily if you got Sharks on your ass while you try to push it to Garage...

Yeah, for 100% in this game, you need to take over all 30 Empires, and once you do, attacks stop forever. There is no such thing as Bikers, Sharks, or Cholos anymore. I don't even think they drive around the map, either. I don't think they exist once all 30/30 Empires are taken over.

All I know is once they stopped, I was able to do some other side stuff without worrying about attacks and hitmen coming after me....

That sucks! I wanted to get 100% and now I'm not gonna. In SA, you didn't have to have 100% controlled hoods to get 100%. That's exactly what keeps video games alive.

well, thats kinda boring, good for sidemissions, bad for doing story related things after the story has completed.

sa had a lot of things to keep game going after the story, and hoods could use something more than just shooting and getting the area. stores and prostitutes could pay cj protection money, the areas could be filled/emptied by how much money you were spending on your gang member's supplies (ammo, clothing, cars etc)..

I don't think so...

Also, as I said above, too, you can just repeat over and over the Empire Site Missions. A lot of FP Vehicles can be found in those Missions, too.

Even in SA, I get 100% Gang Territory Taken Over. I would never have a Save that doesn't have it 100% taken over...

well, thats kinda boring, good for sidemissions, bad for doing story related things after the story has completed.

VCS, has tons of Side Missions that are infinitely playable, just like in VC, SA, and LCS. In VCS, you can even replay the Rampages, unlike any other GTA Game...

In fact, the ONLY 3D Era GTA Game that doesn't have stuff for the player once 100% is reached is GTA III. VC, SA, LCS, and VCS do...

But if there are no attacks, then what can you do about empire business, i mean you can only play the side missions, or change the business type. and those things are not fun as gang attacks to me..

There is 6 Business Types. 3 of the Business Types have 15 infinitely playable missions and 3 of the Business Types have 6 infinitely playable missions. The ones with only 6 missions are a LOT harder to complete. In fact, some of those were the HARDEST tasks I had to do for 100% when I did it this past July 2014...

Furthermore, you can repeat the mission Crash! and Rush! (PS2 Exclusive) and get the Heavy Coach and Heavy Linerunner. Heavy Vehicles are quite fun to mess around with, and these are infinitely available to the player. There is Races that can always be done over and over, and the Race Vehicles are FP/PP/TP/EC, and the Bikes are FP/PP/EC. There is a lot to do, actually...

I am sorry you guys only like the Game for the Empire Attacks :p In my case, I like everything, except the Empire Attacks. In fact, anything dealing with the Empires really is off-putting to me with this Game.

Yea well ofc i know there are more things to do then empire, sure, but shoot outs with rival gangs is the point of the game really, so you cant blame me :)

Gangs are sh*t compared to the FBI. Try getting 5 stars and driving through an FBI Roadblock. They will tear your car to shreds in seconds and you'll have to jump out before it blows up. They are a much stronger force than any Biker/Shark/Cholo. :p:p

Even in my AP Sentinel XS I was driving it through roadblocks and they ALWAYS shot out ALL 4 of my tires and my windshield would break and they'd shoot Victor, too, even in an AP Vehicle, which is bullet proof, dent proof, explosion proof, and fire proof...

vcs is a tough game, it really is. i guess knowing that it will be the last 3d era game, they just want you to spend more time in it with trying to complete hard missions and stuff. i cant blame them, because there was a 2 year gap between vcs and iv, and the "make it hard>they will spend time" thing worked out..

I owned III since release, VC since release, and SA since release. I didn't buy LCS/VCS until April 2014. I had IV since release, too, but didn't buy TLaD/TBoGT (EfLC) until March 2014. I also had V since release. I only just bought on Christmas 2014, CTW for iPhone 6.

But yeah, I own III, VC, SA, LCS, and VCS all for PS2. I own IV, TLaD, TBoGT, and V for PS3. I own CTW for Mobile.

But I agree, VCS is the hardest out of these GTA Games I named. I am not sure about CTW, yet, as I have not done 100% yet or obtained any Special Vehicles. First I am gonna complete a 4th LCS Save File, then a 2nd VCS Save File, then finally do a CTW Save File...

I've mixed feelings about the empire building system.

First the good sides : it was actually a real and consistent addition to the franchise. Like the drug dealing mini game in CW, this feature really adds something to the experience, and greatly contribute to the game identity. Then, taking over the 30 empires and completing all their side missions requires a lot of time; even though some are easy and repetitive, some other offer a nice challenge.

Last point, the money is well balanced. You'll need to take over a lot of business before having enough money to buy the most expensive ones, instead of earning sh*tloads of useless dollars in 20 minutes, as it's the case in too many other GTA.

Then the bad sides : aesthetically, business buildings tend to ruin the urban landscape harmony. Obviously it's up to the player to choose what building to build, and where … But too many business locations are crudely placed, as if devs put them totally at random on the map.

Such a system could have allowed useful and relevant rewards to the player, instead all we're given are clothes and BP cars …

Also, how could I omit the horrendous defense system ? It wasn't fun in GTA San Andreas, but it's 10 time worse here, because the R3 mission trick doesn't work anymore.

If driving to the opposite side of the map under a very short time limit every 10 minutes doesn't scare you, then you have to face what seems to be hundred of enemies, which are, thanks to a glitch, invulnerable to your business guards gun (a shame, because VCS is certainly the single GTA game where recruited bodyguards are somewhat accurate). Kinda challenging but … Boring.

Anyway, this is just my opinion. I won't play the game before a very long time, because I made a playthrough recently, and I learnt a bad news while playing the game. As it badly affected me, I've associated this bad feeling in my mind with this game, so I "can't" play it anymore. Totally off topic, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who had experienced something like that.
