X/R//
I still like Vice city '86 more. while VCS is better designed sometimes, the fact that almost every landmark is shut down is a real downer. Making places such as pole position, malibu or even the police station open to the public in VC help the player to feel the city alive and real. There are actual shows (ok, vcs has phil concert...in an empty arena), there are races, there are OPEN shops (better than the closed interiors like San andrea's shops)...closing them was a mistake, and something I still don't like nowadays if vcs had all the unique vc features like all the interiors you just mentioned, then who would ever go back and play the original one? they made it so that there still will be a reason for you to go back and enjoy the original aswell. same goes for GTAIII and LCS. wwwwandrarijaz

Nico
Can I make a suggestion? Marky, to have a better visualization of your comparison, you could use a table.VC Image 1VCS Image 1VC Image 2VCS Image 2VC Image 3VCS Image 3

VC Image 1VCS Image 1VC Image 2VCS Image 2VC Image 3VCS Image 3
You would need smaller images -or thumbnails- to avoid breaking the page, but the comparison will be a lot better, being able to see places of both games at the same time. Tyla
These screenshots certainly convinced me of Vice City Stories' beauty. I haven't seen the game in this much detail since 2006. More pictures please. One of the main things VCS did was treat the areas that were dull and lifeless in the original. Take the Fairground and Clymenus Hotel for instance: they completely transformed one of the most boring areas of the map into something of interest. And as Flesh-n-Bone pointed out, those routes around Fort Baxter to Little Haiti/Sunshine Autos made so much difference. I didn't mind the construction. It was very realistic for Miami in that time period. It also plays well to some of the characters in Vice City. Where the fairground and the hotel are in VCS, there are apartments and Avery's construction sites in VC. We already know Avery is hungry for the land. He doesn't give a sh*t about your happiness or the aesthetic beauty, he just wants the money. So yeah, VCS was the better depiction of the two games. After four years to realise and right their wrongs so it should be. X/R//, wwwwandrarijaz and Blingy

PhillBellic
Apart from the inclusion of the Washington Mall, I prefer the 1984 Version of Vice City. X/R// and M0rk
Flesh-n-Bone
These screenshots further show me how much more life VCS has to it compared to VC, even around the construction sites. Nostalgia aside, I find it pretty easy to put VCS over VC when comparing the two, as games and just the city and how it looks. So much more colorful in the mainland and while the beach areas in VC will always have a special place in my (and everyone else's) heart, it just doesn't have that sunny 80s vibe and is a bit dark in comparison. PhillBellic
thanks for the second part as well, how about the next parts? also, when can you do lcs one? There certainly would be many changes between the two. The Fort Staunton area, The Porter Tunnel, and Northern Portland area just to name a few. Arran B
I used to find the differences between both VCS and VC such as the Ferris wheel as opposed to the construction site it is two years later a bit far-fetched but nowadays as I'm older and a bit less naive now it seems more believable. Kinda sucks that you can't enter the Malibu and other key buildings in 1984, but in 1986 they're suddenly enterable? Doesn't make sense whatsoever. Great work, OP on all the photo comparisons and the video btw Edited December 28, 2014 by Arran B M0rk

Anywhere USA
On 12/22/2014 at 8:18 AM, X/R// said: %100 Agreed. The bridge and the road was so helpful and quick that it made the original VC painful in free roam. Also, this shortcuts and re-newed/changed map created a lot of continuity errors between games. For example, how can you explain the road and the bridge disappearing for no reason? Why would anyone remove them while they made everything quick? The same goes for the little haiti houses. i mean they are so perfectly aligned in the VCS with their backyard/alley and fence around them. But in 1986, they are just annoyingly misplaced and misaligned. http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20080616234206/gtawiki/images/2/2b/Umberto_Robinas_House.jpg Hurricane and lack of budget. nick323f
Colorful neons, wonderful timecycle and a few landmarks made VCS a real eyecandy for a PSP/PS2 game... but my favourite has to be Benny's Restaurant in Little Haiti. https://imgur.com/tcIceo9 Here is a screenshot of my modded Vice City with some of the VCS landmarks wwwwandrarijaz

Algonquin Assassin
Not having a enterable Malibu Club in VCS is pretty much a deal breaker for me. Also having all of those spots where the businesses are from the empire building that are unnaturally placed where they don’t make sense by 1986 grinds by OCD gears.
