This. I got boned by R* with crates only dropping K-Rose and Bounce FM shirts in the San Andreas event. KDST is the only shirt I'm really interested in now.

Not that I doubt you but I have been trying this on both PS3 and PS4 and had no luck at all

for Blarneys which is why everyone is "suspicious" when someone posts about that beer hat.

I'm wondering how people can know where the crate is about to drop long before the notification pops up. I was cruising around in my Buzzard in a lobby with two other players who were in cahoots and when I got the notification I was like "sweet, it's a ten second flight from here", but then I noticed that the other guys where already there. And they arrived by car... Up in Rockford Hills with all those curvy roads... I saw something similar last night and someone reported the same thing in this thread.

But maybe it's just a coincidence.

 

I think there are possible reasons for this as I too have seen this happen.

 

1. Luck in the first instance, they just happen to be in the area the crate drop is going to be so its not too difficult to then travel there by car,

I spawned right beside a crate drop this morning at the casino which was sweet.

 

2. Lag - perhaps others have had the notification and so have a few seconds head start on you.

 

3. My main theory is thus though, given I've been doing this daily since the 18th I've generally noticed the game will try and drop the

crate in an area near to players, not always the case but certainly has happened to me a lot which always puts you at a disadvantage

esp if in a chopper and have gone to the top end of the city to be central.

 

I always have a look at the map before hand to see where the players in the lobby are as this can sometimes position me to

be ready for the crate drop before they can react.

 

 

1. Totally plausible but they must have been really lucky. I don't think I've ever seen a crate drop there and believe me, I'm an OG crate hunter

2. Not plausible, at least not with that crate drop. Navigating those roads take a lot of time, especially if you're in a hurry to get there due to oncoming traffic and general excitement and my connection is not that bad.

3. This I totally buy and it makes sense because we were all in that general area. So in that particular case I believe it was a combination of 1 and 3. I will definitely take that in to consideration when/if the KJAH shirts drop, if I don't start/join an invite session or figure out how to make UDP Unicorn to work. The latter will be an act of desperation because I really want that shirt and all I got was KDST shirts (which is an awesome shirt, but not when you get them 15 times in a row and the KJAH is dropping for everyone else) during the SA event.

Any chance that those of you who have obtained the blarney and j lager beer hats could fill us in on what you were wearing when you collected the crates that awarded you the aforementioned hats?

 

And also, if you could, let us know if you had the complete set of shirts....as in all the special tops?

I'm thinking that either of these might activate the beer hats?

To everyone saying that the Blarney's beer hat is 100% confirmed to have already drop is wrong. Because if it was don't you think 9/10 people would get it. Plus the people say that they have it got it around the time of the crate was changing to the new cycle. what would be the coincident of that?

Yeah sometimes that's the way it goes and I agree with you on point 2 because that was just one possibility, think it unlikely to be that

myself so definetly fitting with my third theory.

 

I do feel your frustration because when that event was on all I was getting was Bounce FM and I really wanted KJAH and KDST but only

got them for one character.

 

@Fabricator you may have something there!

 

I really do suspect a modded PS3 console is the cause of people getting those items but I wonder if that may have been a bonus reward

for collecting all four of them previously which is why I'm working hard on getting the crates on my umodded PS3 console to check this

theory out.

The story of how I didn't get it on PS3 is a different story, I was flying around in my Besra, less than one minute left, a modder, yes one of those a**holes that Rockstar should have removed by now, ejected me from my plane, when I landed on the ground I had a wanted level, for the plane blowing up, I made it to the crate, and the modder blew me up, but let another guy get it, I hate modders

My heart is always pumping like I just exercised when going near a crate, a lot of adrenaline is produced I guess

All of the videos and things that I have read say that you need to have at least three people. additional to you, in a lobby to get them to spawn. And if you destroy HPVs, I think, and attack money trucks it seems to cut down the time it takes for them to arrive.

Just a curious off topic question...I play on Xbox360 and was driving down the road minding my own business when my character randomly JUMPED out! Can people force that too..? Or was that just genuinely random?

i am aware that normally thats the case but there is a post by a reputable member showing a special crate drop in a solo session. ( pg 91)

if it was another players vehicle theres an option in the interaction menu to kick players from your vehicle...however if it was your vehicle or a stolen npc vehicle then yes a modder could have booted you from said vehicle...sux eh?

The evidence points to Blarney's and J Lager hats being a glitch or a fluke. R* has clearly said they are dropping one special item per day. Two items goes against that format. Those that got it were VERY lucky. The vast majority of other days has been one special item per day.

 

It has not dropped in en masse and therefore I do not consider it part of the official drop schedule.

 

It was a fluke and a glitch some got it.

 

I've said it earlier in this thread, the day the Supa Wet hat dropped I got 7 crates xmas morning (360 and PS4 - before the outage) and a few the night before - not a hint of Blarney's.

 

No longer do I deny that some got it, I deny that it has been widely available and should not be considered part of R*'s drop schedule.

According to that some of those items will not be dropped.

There looks to be 6-7 items left to drop(one a day - 7 days remain) with 7 shirts not yet being dropped and 4 beer hats yet to drop as well (11).

I wish they would have given us a chance at everything or in near future.

R* finally perfected crate drops (IMO) where before they were garbage so didn't waste time. (broken, random, glitchey)
