Why is there so much disbelief about people getting the blarneys beer hat yesterday?

People mentioning it in this thread was the only reason i kept trying all day.

 

- PS3

- Did not participate in The Independence day drops. (The only beer hats i have are Supa Wet and Blarneys from yesterday)

- Collected roughly 6-7 crates yesterday, all of which contained supa wet but the last.

- Blarneys Drop was in a low pop lobby. was at around 5 people.

- Flare was green like every other festive surprise drop.

 

I tried to tell the community that it was possible to get the Blarneys beer hat in special crate yesterday but they accused me as a troll.

I've lurked here for a long time, but only posted on the GameFAQs pages, but I have another tidbit to complicate the pot.

I asked Rockstar support about whether the Blarney's and J's Lager have been or will be part of this event. I got "canned response #247" which makes no sense:

Thank you for contacting Rockstar Support and for your question.

The Beer Hats were available only during the Independence Day season. As of now now no such offers are available.

Although there is no information to release on this topic, we appreciate the fact that you are interested in our games (yadda yadda yadda)

I responded back with the fact that Pißwasser and SupaWet hats were already re-released for this event as well and the dates of their release to see what their response would be.

 

So I don't really trust anything people are saying about getting these in crates so far with the plausible exception of being a random fluke.

Seems I won't get at least one item due to the PSN connectivity issues if R* won't decide to make it drop again. 2 hours left to pick up the item. But I'm glad it's just the stupid mask and not the K-Rose t-shirt, Blarney or J-Lager hat. Let's hope we'll get enough hours or time at all tomorrow to get the new item.

I'm up to about 60% confidence that they are dropping for some people. If nobody was taking a dump on XBL right now I'd be trying for 3-7 sequential crates in a session, see what happens.

I wouldn't mind seeing a video of someone picking up a crate with a Blarney hat...I'm a little surprised that no one who says they got them had a capture card running.

on ps4 you dont need any capture card, also when you wasnt expecting drop you can still get record from your last 15mins of game, by pressing Share button, give me Vid or it didnt even happend, PS "history" drop pic wont let me trust, or some selfies with modded hat,

Right, but the only people who seem to be getting the Blarney hat are last gen and mostly on PS3 (where you'd need a capture card).

 

Edited to add: and I still prefer my capture card to PS4's stuff...it's fine if you don't have a real capture device, but I'll stick with my Elgato and its much longer recording and flashback time.

Well I collected ten crates on PS3 today and all of them were the Please Stop Me Hockey Mask

no unexpected surprise, so far on PS3 I have not had any of the unreleased items people have

been reporting.

 

The next day there is a beer hat I will do some checking myself on the PS3.
