Are the special crates still dropping or is it all over? Haven't seen a notification at all.

25th - Supa Wet Beer Hat (with Blarney's as the rare drop)

31st - Patriot Beer Hat (with J-Lager as the rare drop)

3rd - Benedict Beer Hat (with Pisswasser as the rare drop)

 

Blarney's and J-Lager only dropped as 'rares' on certain days.

 

Nobody realised the pattern on the 19th (Pisswasser) 'cos it was basically the first full day of the drops, so dunno what the rare drop was then (or even if there was one).

 

I got the USA Boppers in one of the special crates when the Pisswasser beerhat was dropping on december 19th so I think that might be the rare drop that day.

Crate just dropped in my lobby...didn't bother going for it.

 

Apart from the time restricted 'Happiness' drop, I've not seen a single anomaly during this crate run (PS4). One item every 24 hours - midnight to midnight (GMT).

Perhaps they may also dedicate an entire day solely for J Lager and Blarneys beer hats, but I doubt it as they were dropped during the event but in much smaller quantities.

Blarneys and J Lager have dropped. They may not have dedicated a day solely for them but they were dropped while other hats were dropping. I got them last week when Supa Wet and Patriot were dropping and many others have evidence of doing the same. People need to accept that these hats are intentionally rare and if you haven't got them, then you simply haven't got them along with the majority.

but isn't a coincidence that almost everybody that reported it dropping was on ps3 one of the biggest modded consoles. plus it's not hard to just google and find a picture and then claim you got it.

I'm on xbox one, I got both the hats in a 3 day radius and my J Lager actually disappeared so I contacted support and they CONFIRMED that I'd picked it up from a crate the day I said and I now have it back, plus I have pictures on my social club of selfies with them.

 

If they CONFIRMED I picked it up, surely that's enough evidence for everyone to realise they have dropped, and you may or may not have got them.

well it was a bug that went into your favor because if it did officially dropped we would have a lot more people confirming it.

Plus the newswire confirm that each day was a new item. If they were going to limit the drop they would put it at 12 hours cycle like they did the happiness t t-shirt.

If it was a game bug they would have said so when I claimed for it, they didn't. The message they sent said:

you clearly don't understand what a game bug is. you can actually get anything added to your inventory if you really put the effort in because I sent a message to Rockstar asking if I could have the happiness t shirt since I didn't get a chance to get it since the cycle didn't drop the full 24 hour cycle and they gave it to me so anything is possible.You don't need to lecture me on a game bug, I'm pretty sure I know how it works and the fact that people are getting thier hopes up for these hats to drop a day each is plain denial of the truth. Rockstar would not give me the hats again if they knew they weren't dropping, end of story.

 

BOTH hats have dropped, myself along with a limited number of others have acquired them from these drops because Rockstar had coded them in but as a rare drop, it's not because of a bug. If you don't believe me, then wake up, it's the 5th now and there's no more items, people who haven't got J Lager or Blarneys hats have been unlucky and that is it, it's time to accept that and move on.

answer this how do you know they codded it in as a rare drop? did rockstar personally just tell you? the only time the people were claiming to get that beer hat was right when it was switching over to the new item. so therefore it was a bug so just admit you don't know. Well I was done with the Special Crate event as of Saturday when I got my Benedict Beer Hats for my characters and just

waiting for Rockstar support to deal with my Patriot, Supa Wet Beer Hats and Flash FM T-Shirt, haven't asked for anything

I've not legit obtained.

 

I am glad to have almost all the items would have been nice to see KJAH getting a reissue but that's life.

 

What interests me now is to see what happens as of midnight UK time, will the event just suddenly stop or will there be

a period of complete random drops until the next game update drops...

That's not what R* tech support has to say. You see, I called them yesterday. Asked them about those very hats. Representative Craig confirmed they have not been officially dropped. Only modders have them and there is much, as he put it urban myths behind them. He made it very clear they were not part of the festive surprise DLC special crate drops.

 

He said that he wasn't aware of any plans in the future to release them.

 

I am not opposed to the notion that they bugged in for some people. The idea of modders on old gen consoles manipulating the crates may be an interesting theory why the old gen users seem to report them more. We all know the old gen has been modded six ways from Sunday.

 

So you really must get the idea of these two hats "officially" dropping out of your head. At best they were bugs or flukes, at worst they were obtained via modding. This was no deliberate intention to make them "rare."

 

They have not been officially released. End of story.

Rockstar tweeted the festive clothing and firework launcher will being removed after today (the 5th, so at 7PM EST / 12AM GMT reset) so it's safe to assume special crates drops are removed as well. Do wish they'd extend the crates for a few days due to those DDOS attacks but we all know how Rockstar operates.

i wish normal crate drops were as frequent as the special ones were. i've had the game since near launch and other then the event ones i seen maybe three crates each months apart from each other.

They'll drop but it'll take some time.

Back in the day the "random" events would occur approximately every 5 minutes(IRL) or so. R* changed the coding on this so they now happen every 48 min IRL.

Think this was partly done to stop the armored truck loop glitch.

If you wait around a lobby(solo/invite too)long enough the normal crate drop will happen. Unfortunately you'll have to get through armored truck/HPV possibly multiple times prior to this.

And if you're waiting around in lobbies for this to happen you're losing a lot more money than you'd recover from a crate anyway.

All in all a good long lasting event. I managed to pick up a few things I didn't own before. Sucha shame I missed the first half of the event due to being busy, because I sure needed a couple of those items

From Oct. 1 2013 to July 5 2014 I only saw a total of three Special Crates fall.

This is what happened for me, when I was able to finally log in on Saturday the 27th (PS4), I was given the gifts immediately as were all my crewmates, etc. who logged in on the 27th. I don't know how long they extended that, however.

I wouldn't be surprised if there were more crates dropped if and when Heists are released

Get 8 or more people into the lobby and the chance for the special crate to drop will be higher.
