"Welcome to Isla Sebastian! Here you will find valleys of vegetation, large number of mountains, the most modern cities in Latin America. Isla Sebastian, the life model of Latin America!" -Isla Sebastian's TV commercial.

The story is set in 2011. Oscar Soto returns home after a long week at the mines. He's are tired, not only physically but psychologically. His work is a nightmare, they treat him like a slave, but he does everything for his son Angel, all that sacrifice is for him. When he opens the door of his house he finds a horrible scene, Oscar sees her son and mother lying on the floor surrounded by a pool of blood. Oscar slowly approaches them with tears in his eyes, takes his son and caresses him for one last time. He doesn't know that his son's death was caused by something deeper than he thought, something related to his past...

Mission 1: Remember us

Three days after the incident Oscar is looking for the culprit. One of his old friends, Rodrigo, told him to go to the slums to get information, he is a tough guy but has never done something like that before. They meet a gang in a narrow street:

- Oscar: Hey, I simply need some information, guys. I don't want problems.

- Gangster: Who the hell are you? Do you think you can come and ask something like that?

- Rodrigo: Hey! Easy, dude. We don't want problems.

- Gangster: But you got them, asshole! *The band aims to them with their guns.*

- Oscar: Hey! Hey! Hey! *Raise his hands.* Don't shoot!

- Gangster: You are- *Rodrigo shoots the gangster in the head*

The rest of the band reaches down and runs for cover while Rodrigo shoots them. Rodrigo takes cover and pulls Oscar.

- Oscar: What the hell did you do ?!

- Rodrigo: What?...

- Oscar: You killed him!

- Rodrigo: Of course I did! He was going to shoot!

- Oscar: But-

- Rodrigo: Shut up and run to the car, we need to get out of here!

Here you take the control of Oscar. You must run to the car and try to not get hurt by the shots. Here is a short cinematic showing Oscar and Rodrigo getting on the car but you regain the control immediately. You must drive and lose the gangsters while Rodrigo shoots. There's another cinematic when you lose them. The car stops.

- Oscar: What the f*ck was that?!

- Rodrigo: What?

- Oscar: All that sh*t about shooting there!

- Rodrigo: Listen-

- Oscar: No! I'm not going to listen! Why do you even have a gun?! Where did you get it?!

- Rodrigo: Shut the f*ck up, Oscar! I f*cking saved you life! You should be grateful, god dammit!

- Oscar: Oh, why? Why does this need to happen?

- Rodrigo: *sigh* Listen, Oscar. I wanna help you, but I can't always be there to save your ass. You need to learn to defend yourself.

- Oscar: Why do I need? I don't want this sh*t!

- Rodrigo: Oscar! You have just entered a world which as you can never leave and you can't behave like a fagot. These guys know something for sure but won't say anything if you're soft. You gotta be strong, friend, I'm with you. But the question is whether you're willing to do anything make the bastard that did that to your family to pay.

- Oscar: ...yes...

- Rodrigo: What?

- Oscar: Yes, let's do it, dammit!

- Rodrigo: Well said, my friend.

Both return to the narrow street and meet the gangsters again who open fire instantly.. They take cover behind the car. Rodrigo gives a pistol to Oscar.

- Oscar: How do I use this thing?

- Rodrigo: Just point and shoot.

You take the control at this point. You must kill all the gangsters except by the leader who's running to a near house. When you kill the seven gangsters you must go to that house and search for the leader. He will be waiting behind some corners so you must be careful. You see him jumping out of a window. You get out of the house and you see him getting on a car, you must to shoot to the wheel. The gangster crashes and goes flying through the windshield. Here begins a cinematic. The gangster wounded on the ground insults Oscar and Rodrigo.

- Gangster leader: f*ck you, assholes. My friends will find you and kill you.

- Rodrigo: Shut the f*ck up.

- Oscar: Were you the one who killed my family?

- Gangster leader: No sh*t, asshole.

- Oscar: Was it you or not?! Answer me, you f*cking moron!

- Gangster leader: I don't dedicate myself to that kind of stuff.

- Oscar: Do you know who was?

- Gangster leader: I won't say anything.

- Rodrigo: Shoot him, dude.

- Oscar: ...He doesn't worth it. *walks away*

- Gangster leader: I'm f*cking sure that your family wanted to die, you are an asshole.

Oscar walks back to the gangster leader, looks menacingly at him for a few seconds and and shoots until he empties the magazine. Then both Oscar and Rodrigo, leave the scene.

He became unemployed and returned to San Diego at the age of 32, where he had to succumb to the desires of his father now deceased. Nevertheless he never stopped being an honest and hardworking man. He never hurt or taken advantage of anyone. However, the death of his family changed him completely. He became a being able to do anything just to get revenge.

Rodrigo Araya

Born in 1970. He grew up in a lower class family and was always discriminated for that. He always wanted to be a doctor but his family couldn't afford his studies, since then he never told anyone that he was a robber. Rodrigo has been Oscar's friend since they were young.

(Comparison between Isla Sebastian, Los Santos from the HD Universe and Liberty City from the HD Universe.)

Isla Sebastian is a province located in a Latin American country. It is a place full of life, the cities are full of NPCs running, lifting weights, men looking at girls, fugitives being pursued by the police, people shopping, washing the car, fixing fences, moving, loading their cars, etc. A place of great extent, full of unique things and activities to do.

There are four main cities in Isla Sebastian

Valente: This city is located next to the biggest mountain of Isla Sebastian. It's a nice and quiet place. Perfect for someone who wants to retire. The Latin American version of San Fierro.

Serapio: This city is located in the center of Isla Sebastian. A city of workers, it's said that it's fifteen years behind New York, a major achievement for a city located in Latin America. Serapio suffer from a great economic centralism, the difference between classes is too much. Because of that you can find all kinds of situations in the city, from gangs to rich families. This is our main city, where the story of Oscar begins.

Constantino: This city is located on the west coast of Isla Sebastian. It closely resembles Serapio.

Renata: This city is located in the south Isla Sebastian. The city with more luxury in San Diego. Here you will find only nice things due to the discriminative politics of the city to get rid of any trace of indigency. In Renata are staying the richest and most powerful families in Isla Sebastian.

Each city has an airport so if you want to save time you can take a plane.

One of the best innovations in the map is that you will be able to enter any building, from a residential home to an entire building. This will give much more freedom of exploration and hours of gameplay.

VIv3R3N.png

The gameplay of Grand Theft Auto: Man's Decay will be very similar to the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto IV and V. However, there will be some changes:

- This new game will have stealth mechanics which means that you can finish a mission without killing anyone unless he/she is an objective. This feature will go well with the amount of vegetation that the game will have and silencers.

- The cars will slide less. If we talk about driving in Grand Theft Auto IV it isn't entirely realistic. Cars do not slide that much in real life.

- You will be able to take cover inside the cars by ducking your head. This will be very useful for when you want to run over an armed enemy.

- The aim system will be like Grand Theft Auto V.

- The bullets will be physical, which means that they will be affected by the environment always creating different situations. Bullets will pass through walls but will lose power at the same time. If you shoot in very parallel to a wall the bullet will have a ricochet effect.

New features:

- One of the main innovations of Grand Theft Auto: Man's Decay is that the character will evolve from scratch. What does it mean? He won't have any experience with guns and just a little in combat at the start of the game. You may be wondering how this affects the game. In early missions the protagonist won't have a very good accuracy, will shoot slow and will take longer to reload a weapon. As you progress the game the protagonist will get more experience and will be able to shoot better and faster, also reload will take less seconds to him. The same idea goes with close combat, if he doesn't have much experience on it the enemies will avoid the hits more often.

- You will be able to pick up objects from the map and use them as a weapon. During the early missions Oscar won't have many weapons and you will have to pick up a stick or a pipeline for protection.

- You will be able to use people as human shield.

- At first you will only be able to drive cars and bikes. You will learn to fly airplanes and helicopters as you progress in the story where the flight classes are unlocked.

- In Grand Theft Auto: Man's Decay you will be able to find abandoned houses in the wood and keep them for yourself. The advantage of these houses is the remote area where they are located and therefore are difficult to access. This will serve to lose the police much more easily. However, if you use one of these houses too often the police will eventually find you.

- This will be the only modern Grand Theft Auto game that won't include girlfriends. The reason of that is because the protagonist doesn't want to get involved with anyone who might get hurt.

- Oscar will never change of appearance physically except for the haircut and facial hair. Aspects such as muscle mass or fatness won't change.

- You will be able to date Oscar's friends by calling them. However, they will never call you like in Grand Theft Auto IV.

- There will be all kinds of minigames.

- You will be able to enter any building and block the entrance by using furniture.

- The police will be much more realistic. They won't know that you killed someone if you're in the middle of the woods or if no one is watching. The police will use smoke and tear gas, dogs, riot gear and rams to knock the doors of the buildings where you're hiding. The police will also have a completely different AI from the previous games to resemble the real-life Chilean police.

- As you gain experience in the game you will be able to manufacture homemade weapons.

- The climate will affect Oscar. If it's raining and you're running there is a possibility for you to slip, if it is hot Oscar will tire faster.

- There will be earthquakes that affect the map and Oscar.

- Grand Theft Auto: Man's Decay will count with decisions that will change the story drastically. There will be four endings in the game.

hHt4x69.png

Grand Theft Auto: Man's Decay will feature all the weapons and cars from previous games. You also will be able to see the same car from different years of the universe of Grand Theft Auto (example: Sabre from San Andreas and V). Besides this, the game will include totally new weapons and vehicles.

*Details comming soon.

kSG3Zo3.png

Grand Theft Auto: Man's Decay will feature radio and TV stations completely based on the country that the game is ambiented.

*Details comming soon.

A province of Latin America?

You do know Latin America is a region, not a country, right? San Diego would be it's own country then.

So far so good. Keep it up.

As you are taking suggestions I have one for you here that you should take on board: get rid of the spoiler tags in your first post. They are stupid. They hide away your work and your effort. Reserve posts if you have too much content for just one post.

Your character art is amazing by the way. Very impressed.

So, I'm guessing it's not actually the San Diego in California? Because that's kind of confusing. I'd suggest a change of name to something more unique and (more importantly) ficticious.

I've already pointed that this San Diego is located in a Latin American country so I think it isn't necessary. Also, if I'm honest, I had no idea of the existence of a San Diego in California.

Edit: Updated some things.

Thank you! Well, about the game, I was waiting for you guys to guess it, but anyway. It's completely based on Santiago de Chile and San Diego itself is a fictional province of Chile, as well as Liberty City is a fictional US state.

Ah, I though it might be Chile.

Cool man, it's definitely unique, I like when people make concepts based in their country as we can see more original ideas. Add some more stuff about the gangs and the general setting and I'll be sold, if you need any help I'm happy to try give some tips.

Just do as well as you can to flesh out the vibe and setting as I think that's the most important thing.

What sort of gangs are active in Chile other than Cartels and local street gangs though? The problem I can see is that the gangland may not be very varied.

I've been interested in a Latin American setting for a open world game, not necessarily a GTA, for a while now. Something set in some kind of fictional military regime during the 1970’s, with elements such a repressive military police, revolutionary or "terrorist" groups, ilegal trafficking, foreign powers and that all kind of Cold War stuff. That or some sort of dystopian thing.

So back on topic, looking forward to some updates. I'd change the name of the place though, so it isn't mistaken with the actual San Diego.

Obviously crime in Chile isn't as developed as it is in the United States. There are terrorists however, those who bomb-attack the subway or the banks. Oh, well I guess I'll have to invent something.

You just read my mind. It's not that the game will take place in something like that but there will be mentions. Do you know? It's funny, it seems it was a coincidence because here in Chile there was a military regime from 1973 to 1990.

Regarding the name. I still think it's not necessary. I would also have to make the logo again. But maybe you can suggest a name because it's hard to decide for me.

Edit: Added some gameplay elements. I've also been thinking about changing the design of this topic, maybe the next week.

This looks so much better now those spoilers are gone! I think the design of your topic is just fine as it is. What do you have in mind to change?

Some of the little features you've got here are very good, especially manufacturing your own homemade weapons and the climate effecting gameplay. Earthquakes aren't something I've considered before but I think they could open up many opportunities for unique mini-games. Looting etc. Blocking entrances is something else that would add a lot towards shootouts. Especially with police having the ability to kick in your doors.

The pictures of real life Chile do a lot to convince me of the diversity of this as a possible location.

Latin America... Just loove latin america. Always thought GTAs would fit in a place in this region. Screw the US.

Story looks interesting enough. What a way to screw up a man, take all he had away from him. Nice touch. I'd like to see more of your story.

And since you ask, if you do want a new name for the province, maybe San Thiago/San Angelo could work?

I was thinking about something like jeanrjm's design on Grand Theft Auto: Dead Men Escape. It is elaborated and stylish.

Hey bro, Ivar from the Future Map Additions thread here :-),

I was searching the internet for information about San Fierro (I do that once in a while), but for one reason (probably the SAN word) it brought me here. Curious as I was, I started reading, which was pretty nice!

Great job man! I would play that game for sure! Thanks for the awesome read!

Also loved the artwork. simple but it gets the job done. It has it's own style!

keep it up!

Hello, everyone. I'm starting to work on this concept again and the first thing which I'll do is to change the name. This concept in now called Grand Theft Auto: Man's Decay. Since I'm not able to change the name of the topic I request a mod to do so, please.

Really good concept, some great ideas I haven't seen before. I particularly like being able to take cover inside your car to avoid gunfire, as well as the environment having an effect on the direction that bullets will go (I imagine you'll be able to pull of some ricochet trick shots with this system :colgate:). Out of interest, how are you looking to handle the language barrier?

The only thing I would suggest would be to base the location on a different South American country. As far as I'm aware, Chile is one of the more affluent of the South American countries today. Would you not consider relocating to Venezuela where I believe street crime is still rife as of recent. Or maybe Bolivia, Peru or of course Columbia, where I'd imagine there's still notable drug cartel presence?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, EM_JAY_86! Yeah, the purpose of these ideas is to make the gameplay much more varied. For example, if you shoot to the sky, that same bullet would kill a player who is a few miles away.

Regarding the language barrier, most of the NPCs in the street will speak spanish as well as some characters in the story. There will be however always subtitles in the screen so you never miss a word of what they say. Yes, english will be present, most of the characters of the story will speak it. There will be also tourist NPCs who will say "Hello!" to you.

Change the location? To be honest, I never considered using another country for my concept as it is based on a modification for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas called "Gran Theft Auto: Santiago" or "GTA: Santiago". That kept my decision is due to I want my concept to break the barrier of drugs and gang wars and introduce the world of Grand Theft Auto to a more political theme, things like corruption and power abuse, etc. Which doesn't mean that drugs and gangs won't be present.

PD: On a side note, I'm studying Video Game Development this year so this concept may become a reality when Grand Theft Auto V is released on PC.
