TJGM
Microsoft Security Essentials. I originally used AVAST but after I seen how many false positives Avast came up with I moved to MSE. MSE scans what I need and gets the job done, it has one of the lower false positives out of the lot (only 5, Avast was over 100) and it doesn't hog up the CPU like AVG. LawasDS
Windows Defender, does its job perfectly. Just don't torrent porno or download suspicious rars/.exes and you'll be fine. AdwCleaner in case you f*ck up and install something malicious in your PC without noticing (when installing it, because you'll notice your pc runs like sh*t or your web browser is flooded with add ons and spam) You are welcome. Gdog
whatever windows uses. i had norton or mcafee sh*t installed when i bought my laptop but took it all out. i find the best way to protect against viruses is use your common sense when browsing the internet. don't go to dodgy sites, don't download anything suspicious and if something does download DON'T OPEN IT. get that sh*t to f*ck! tranceking26
I always install Avast. It's simple to use and a full scan can be quite fast.
SixteenValues
I prefer Microsoft Security Essentials. Previously been using a cracked copy of AVAST on a previous computer. Worked fine, but somehow a little too complex for my liking. Also been using AVG in the past. Very simple to use indeed, but I just feel a lot more comfortable with MSE. sivispacem
i find the best way to protect against viruses is use your common sense when browsing the internet.Certainly used to be the case, but not anymore. Common sense won't protect you from strategic web compromises and well-designed exploit kits. TheMcSame
Just found this on hotdealsUK, it's a free code for a 1 year pro subscription (technically it's a 1 year trial) for AVG. Thought it would be useful to put it here. IBY9X-ESYXT-W4BZQ-QI4WX-A9LI7-INRS3 I'd also read this as there's some stuff on here that might be worth reading. http://www.hotukdeals.com/freebies/avg-internet-security-2015-1-year-free-licence-worth-44-99-2114298 Edited January 10, 2015 by TheMcSame Man-Django
TCA
Me and my family use AVG (free version) on every computer we have and have never had any issues, I think it's a really good program. When I feel like it is necessary I compliment it with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. AVG has gotten way too bloated for my tastes, I just MSE with malwarebytes. Vik
None. You don't really need one, just be sure that you download programs from the official websites. That sounds like a dangerous plan. That won't fly. My mother is so paranoid that the entire Internet is nothing but viruses, that it was a chore to convince her to buy from Newegg. Same for me . I prefer you do this combo:Norton + Adblock Pro = Master Race
