Should I do what R* suggested?

So I opened a ticket about some issues regarding a few things.

 

At the start of a race ive had the car spawn facing the opposite way, or flipped on its back. (these are R* own jobs)

Asked them about whether they would look into the passive mode for HPV

Not seeing any other activities going on besides HPV in free roam. Month later and have never seen armoured trucks, crates etc.

Also golfing is a bug fest.

 

I just wanted them to acknowledge these issues, but they said....

Below you will find some troubleshooting that should help resolve the issues you are experiencing. These troubleshooting steps come directly from Sony's website.

Step 1: Booting Up in Safe Mode:

The PS4 system has the ability to start up in Safe Mode. This allows access to several functions that can provide you with a way to clean up and potentially fix many issues you may be experiencing.

1. Turn off the PlayStation 4 by pressing the power button on the front panel. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
2. Once the PlayStation 4 is off, press and hold the power button. Release it after you've heard two beeps: one when you initially press, and another 7 seconds later.
3. Connect the DualShock 4 controller with the provided USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.

When you have successfully booted the console in safe mode several options will be made available to you.

Step 2: Update System Software:

We recommend that you perform this process before running through any troubleshooting as it is possible that your console's software is not the most recent version and this can create issues running the game.

Step 3: Restore Default Settings:

It is possible that the changing of certain settings could lead to issues with sound and display. If you are experiencing any issues of that type this could resolve your issue.

Step 4: Rebuild Database

This process will essentially replace all current data with any available backup data. This can help fix any issues that were a result of any recent changes to the database.

WARNING: The last two options of the Safe Mode list, Initialize PS4 and Reinstall System Software, will result with a complete wiping of any and/or all information on the PS4 and as such we recommend speaking with Sony before moving forward with these steps. Please keep in mind that we CANNOT restore any deleted data and advise you speak with them about how to back up save files on an external device (to prevent any loss of progress).

Ill do it if you would explain to me what any of this has to do with the issues I stated above. Just so we are clear that this is not something you have just copy and pasted from sony's website to justify a response from you.

Oh rly? Should I do this risky as hell safemode thing? Have any of you done this succesfully?

I have had this happened a couple times in the past, not enough to prompt me to believe it was anything other than an occasional glitch so I ignored it, the others are unfortunate. I've recently started running into a bug that constantly hits me with the prompt to change the lightness/darkness, sign into socialclub, adjust my reticle back to complex and camera angle to high..

That's all unlikely to have anything to do with it, but you can't rule it out unless you're stepping through source code on your console in order to see what's really happening. I think if you stick to their suggestions then you won't lose anything, unless something goes wrong, in which case game saves and updates could be lost.

 

If it were me, in all honesty, I'd tell them I've done it and it's not fixed anything, and then prepare to never hear back from them again.

Yeah i think maybe telling them Ive done it would be a good idea. Because if I lose my save files im gonna lose it. It may also wipe off all the different psn accounts ive setup for it too.

I submitted a ticket about the turbo issue and that's exactly the same response they gave to me. I told them I'd done it and it hadn't fixed anything, but I was lucky as that was a widely known and proven issue, and there were a LOT of people tweeting the YouTube video that Broughy made that explained and proved the problem, so they had to acknowledge it.

 

Your issue sounds strange, which is why I said that the suggestions *may* help. It could be that you've got a corrupted update, but it's more unlikely than it is likely.

 

Also, that warning about the last 2 options in safe mode is just them covering themselves. They're not actually telling you to do that. In fact, they're telling you not to! Step 4 is probably the most relevant, but if you really want to do something yourself I'd say delete the game updates and redownload them. It's a pain, but it may solve the problem.

I wouldn't do that OP. R* gives that response 24/7 and it most likely won't help.

That sh*t happens to me too. Quicksave after you changed all your settings back, and then go to gtao. thats what i did and now last times i started the game i didnt have to change settings again.

It's a standard boilerplate response that buys them more time and makes them feel warm and fuzzy that they responded. I only know this because it's what I do for a living

 

Bottom line, if you're not at all comfortable doing any of what they suggested, don't do it. Your response was perfectly fine and puts the ball back in their court. I reported a bug with a mission and got the exact same response. I pushed back and they responded more personally and specifically. They also fixed the issue I reported.

What the Rockstar rep said is not risky stuff...

Just dont press the last 2 options as they will format the HDD. The other options wont delete files or affect your ps4 in any negative way....
