Opinion on NPC Traffic

  1. 1. What do you think of NPCs trying so hard to crash into you?

    • Can you f*ckers PLEASE learn how to drive ffs?

    • It's fine just the way it is and I thoroughly enjoy crashing into every car I see.

Funny to see that I'm not the only crazy one who's telling everyone else that the NPC's in traffic do that on purpose. I'm not sure but I think in Missions it's even more a problem than in the Free-roam. Since the beginning I simply solve the problem by stepping out of my car and beat them off. If I'm in a Mission, Police chase... Stickies will do it fast. BUT, whenever it happens, I ALWAYS do self justice, somehow it must be done.

It's poor AI programming. Watch this. This video describes the 360/PS3 version, but it's relevant.

10/10 perfect game

The NPC drivers on XB1/PS4 are undeniably more idiotic.

I have gotten to the point where I absolutely refuse to use a bike in missions, and most of the time in free mode. Not kidding, every time I use a bike, there is always an npc that gets the hilarious idea to perfectly time a right or left turn, causing me to slam into them, fly across the street and splatter on the asphalt. Even when I slow down, it's almost like they wait, just so they can f*ck me up.

Ooh, another one of my favorite things they do, is when they go slow, and then I try to pass them in a car or on a bike, and they immediately change lanes and crash/kill me. Soooo frustrating.

Overall I think traffic is fine. As long as you aren't going warp speed and breaking real world traffic laws (like passing on the right/left for you folk who drive on the wrong side of the road wink wink) traffic works quite well.. When you are fleeing at warp speed, yup, there are going to be fender benders. And that's a good thing. If there wasn't what would be the point of having traffic?

Now I'm not saying you should be stopping for red lights and such, but you break the rules, that's what happens.

That being said, I agree 100% with Crossed Sabres. It is beyond annoying to hit an NPC car head on, and then that car keeps banging into you, pushing all but a few cars backwards, no matter how modded you car is (a fully modded super being push around by a futo, really?). I think my Dubsta 6x6 is one of the few cars that can't be pushed back like that.

I know how you all feel. But I thought this is a rather common issue among multplayer games. Like many have said before, the worst part isn't about the NPC's crashing to you, but the fact that they're so glued to the road that even with a muscle car, you can't push them aside.

Exactly, this is reall unrealistic (and takes away lots of fun we had in IV with these physics). In IV, it's too easy to push cars, but in V it's way too difficult. They need a nice middleground

True, at least 6/10 times this happens I have to admit I wouldn't have seen it coming either IRL in the NPC's position. Still, 4/10 times the crashes are easily foreseeable by NPC's, which is too damn much IMO.

sry guys, but u cannot just rush with high speed trough traffic and expect to be seen. just like in real life, when there is a speed limit like 50km/h and i drive 80-100 i dont expect anybody to take notice and let me pass. i know i am "too fast" and i cannot expect from others that they always watch out for that car in the distance that might be right behind them in a second cause he is going way too fast.

and thats why gtaV traffic is abslutely ok with me. u cannot just rush through the city in topspeed and expect no one to cross your path.

about that guy on the bike not able to ride it through traffic: giveut a few more tries. i have no issues while on a bike. its possible

oh... so u r talking about cruising with the traffic? no cutting off because u dont overtake them? just bumping into u from the side and sh*t? i need to test that.

Traffic is programmed for 1st person where you wouldn't see the obvious lane shifts and accel/decel, but would make for a more realistic experience considering you are speeding through lights and around and between cars.

the erratic and unpredictable driving is the most realistic aspect of the game. at least we can ram them or shoot them. we are only allowed to wish we could do those things in the UK

It could be seen as a bit realistic, but you have to understand that the cars are programmed to crash into YOU and f*ck YOU up. The NPCs don't really crash into each other very much, they're always trying to f*ck YOU over.

When you get even a 1star wanted level, every NPC in the game somehow knows that you're wanted and they'll try even harder to screw you over because they all somehow magically become undercover cops who know exactly how to subdue you and your vehicle.

If the AI were done properly in this game, we would feel like an NPC hitting us was an accident, yet the NPCs don't have accidents really in this game; they lock onto you, crash into you, push you around like nothing and are only there to f*ck you over in any way they can. They meant to do that, nothing's an accident...

NPC cars becoming brick walls and being unmovable by even the largest, most powerful vehicles such as the Sandking/Dubsta and others, is completely unrealistic and to be quite honest, if someone thinks that the AI is okay in this game, they either haven't actually spent much time playing the game, or they are literally, just plain delusional...

Today I had the worst yet experience with NPC traffic. It was in a race again. The road was one of those with two lanes with an elevated pavement separating the lanes. I approached an NPC from behind, overtook on the left (on the pavement) and he decided to turn left ONTO THE PAVEMENT for no apparent reason at the exact time I was about to pass him, no roads leading there or anything. Hell, the pavement isn't a road at all. I think this proves that at least in races, NPCs are freakin' programmed to "change lanes" at the exact time you pass.

Dam dude...I think maybe it would be best if no one even bothers to turn on traffic in races anymore if sh*t like this is going to happen. It's really game ruining.

Turning on traffic is suppose to create obstacles, fill up the road so you have to weave around cars instead of being able to drive anywhere you want. It should NOT sabotage you and dramatically influence your chances of winning...

I'm going to assume your "liiiiiiiil" = sarcasm, because if it were liiiiiiiil, it definitely wouldn't annoy the ever living f*ck out of you lol.

Welcome to the club buddy; you're definitely not alone... :facedesk:

I remember once riding a motorcycle on the sidewalk on the left side from the road, and an NPC in a car coming from opposite direction starts honking like a maniac, swerves from the road on the sidewalk, hits me head on and sends me flying off my bike.Worst of all,he did it for no reason,I didn´t even have a wanted level, and I know it wasn´t another player because I was alone in invite only.

It´s also annoying how they honk the second you do a traffic violation(like when you cross on the opposite lane)and I would get that the guys who saw you start honking to warn you that you made a traffic violation, but what´s annoying is that even cars that were hundreds of yards away also honk seconds later even if you returned to your lane and they didn´t see anything. It´s like when one dog in the neighborhood barks in the middle of the night and then all the other dogs start barking and don´t stop for like half an hour.

I don´t think I even have to say anything about how NPC drivers do everything they can to damage the vehicle you want to sell to LSC or deliver to Simeon.

They literally go out of their way to crash into you all the f*cking time. It makes absolutely no sense why the AI constantly attempt to wreck their cars into you. I swear Rockstar devs are a bunch of trolls.

The worst is trying to play the long haul race on PS4.

Wow is the traffic f*cking terrible on that race, it's funny when you see the person infront do ten flips and go up 40 ft in the air only to come back down and explode because a issy decide to do a u turn in the freeway.

But then it gets annoying because once you hit paleto bay and the bridge further down in the city it's like the traffic have an order to ram you off the road every te you try and pass.

Rockstar need to sort this out!

still better than RL Traffic

and u r overreacting... ;)

No. No we aren't.

The NPC pulls an illegal U-turn just to ram me as he sees me coming from almost a block away. Tell me how the AI aren't purposely ramming into players again?

Its gonna get worse when I go into first person right? sh*te.
