    • Can you f*ckers PLEASE learn how to drive ffs?

    • It's fine just the way it is and I thoroughly enjoy crashing into every car I see.

Seriously, the game's AI is trash behind the wheel. This is from someone who is currently doing a "realistic" playthrough in SP. Single Player, the game mode where the only player that exists is you yourself so there's no excuse for AI going ballistic unless you're causing carnage yourself.

Yep, nothing like sitting at a red light for five+ minutes. No joke, the traffic light system is broken as well. Of course, that's topped off with a bus that blockades the entire street at an angle for a whole minute, something that's actually happened to me more than once.

dp you drive irl by any chance, wish you would come to my road the traffic lights have been f*cked for years...and the local drivers are maniacs, that or they are racist (speaking from experience)

so you are telling me, when you play SP and not in a mission, not killing, not shooting, no stars, obeying traffic laws that the AI goes ballistic??

thats means there is a bigger issue, cos Take Two have shipped out broken versions of the game.....my gta is nothing like that....however jokes aside I understand everyone's experience is different....

Your traffic lights only matter if you are from LA. Los Santos as we all know is based on Los Angeles, a huge urban center with frequent traffic problems as is. Having all four traffic lights stay red for 5+ minutes in a city like that is just asking for trouble. Especially in a major city like LA. Now I'm not saying LA doesn't have broken traffic lights like this, surely there's probably two or three that are messed up IRL. But in LS, ALL of them do this. It's broken and there's no excuse since even GTA 3 had proper traffic lights.

I doubt the AI going ballistic is due to my copy being broken. It's not immediately obvious that the traffic system is broken unless you absolutely go out of your way to drive realistically. I'm talking no turning left on reds, idling behind five cars, driving the speed limit stuff. The AI will regularly sit at a green light for three seconds (by which it will already turn yellow, even more broken BS) whereas if I sit at a green light for 0.5 seconds the AI will cuss and rear-end my car out of impatience.

meanwhile The npc driver probably looked at your car and got scared. Notice how the npc avoided the red car. You should not sit still in the middle of that lot otherwise traffic will attempt to dodge you as the above video shows.

Coming back to GTAO after not playing for nearly a week & a half.. This problem is 10x more noticeable. Feels like im playing Die Hard: with a vengeance on PS1 with the cheats on.. Nigh-on unplayable.

I heard you would avoid collisions when alternating your acceleration and driving backwards. AI calculates your trajectory based on how long you press throttle or brakes so I guess you have to do this really erratically if you want to fool it. This method worked for me in "Hack" heist preparation mission, I tapped the keys and the cars couldn't hit me until the end when a car just SPAWNED in the right from me to hit me.

  • 3 months later...

The GIF is just an example

wxg8m7p2jn8yodcqoagp.gif

Last days I have, many and many situations like this, just in free roaming. For example, if I stand in the middle of the highway, some NPC's vehicle will spawn at full speed behind me. Some NPCs will turn right into me, aggressively changing lanes, or even going where they never will go before!

Not a hackers / different sessions / pretty often.

My theory:

Last days people are Very angry at you, when you are defending yourself with an explosive ammos, calling you a hacker e.t.c. And I saw that they go in pause mode. Also I hunt for bounties, they might be not happy about it as well, so, I think, they just report you for a bad behavior/griefing.

And when you have bad status (not the one, which you see in the game) game's AI will become against you.

Something like punishment.

Have this happened to you?? Any thoughts?

I think this happened from the Biker update till the beginning of this year. But when community started to do public announcements of this situation, Rockstar silently removed it. Now this happening again.

I got used to their actions in "panic mod", but they usually just tried to drive away from the player who's causing damage. Now they're just ramming them on cars. Again.

NPC traffic has always been terrible in my opinion. Just over the years I've managed to kinda' predict how they work and react.

Yeah, but, there's only one NPC at each location which behaves like that, not the group of npcs

Just the usual scripted AI during Import/Export missions...

Do you guys even read? THIS IS HAPPENING IN FREE ROAMING, NOBODY'S SHOOTING, ONE RANDOM NPC BECOMES VILLAIN VERY, VERY OFTEN.

It happened to me even in free roam too, but there's always was the reason what COULD POSSIBLY trigger it. But when i just riding around, nothing really terrible happens.

Last night, my friend and I had just got through taking out some bad guys guarding a car that we needed to steal for I/E. We waited for 10 or so minutes for the all the nearby npcs to calm down before jumping in the high end car and it seem to work. As soon as we thought they had calmed down, I jumped into the car, my friend was just about to jump into his car, when an npc rammed him from behind, killing him. I had to hurry up and pull the car into a driveway to keep them from ramming me and inflicting further damage on the car.

It depends were you drive.

The reason why people think NPC's have become more aggressive since bikers is simply because most of those clubhouses are in areas were the NPC's are in general more hostile.

This is pretty much all of downtown los santos, sandy shores and grapeseed.

The NPC's are simply way more aggressive there.

At least Rockstar didn't code NPCs to have the ability to form large mobs to chase after and beat the piss out of players. I mean could you imagine being pulled out of your car and being subsequently beaten by four other npcs with various melee weapons? Talk about the rage, this would be on another level of NPC rage.

OP, it's time to chill. There was a topic dedicated to this issue and as a day one player I can assure you that traffic was f*cked since launch. With Vehicle cargo it became more important not to damage your cars, which subsequently triggered even more hate and bring more attention to this issue. Your theory about NPCs being angry at explosive ammo is beyond R* coding capabilities, far beyond.

And actually, this topic should be locked and you're rude.
