just-a-spaz
What type/brand of TV are you using OP? I don't have an issue with this on mine, however I do have an issue with getting the right brightness/contrast, there's no in-between balance. The game either looks to bright or it's to dark, white colours are way over the top and give off an unnatural glare. Maybe it's not so much my TV, but it's the game in general. The pastel colours don't really help this any. After playing a few newer games on the PS4, it's clear to me how dated the engine that GTA V is running on, it has very poor brightness and shadow management compared to games that were developed for the PS4 rather than ported, it's very basic to say the least. In my opinion it also makes everything look like plastic, the player models and cars especially. I'm not asking for miracles on such an open World game, but I'd of though this would have been something that they would of improved in the PS4 release. Daytime is the worst for me, everything is way to colourful and bright. Night time, while better still suffers from being to bright, I can stand in the middle of the Desert or an un-lit area and still see everything clearly. There was someone defending the lighting in another thread I posted this in, but I think he views the World through Rockstar glasses, I mean GTA will never win an award for best looking game, but damn, the lighting really needs to be improved upon. I thought GTA V had some of the most advanced lighting I've ever seen on the last gen systems. It features ambient occlusion unlike any other game. It really gives things depth. Instead of lit objects just being one flat tone and shadowed objects are one flat tone... there is depth that you don't get in very many last gen games. When you enter a shadowed area, it gets darker the deeper in you go. Like say you're walking into a tunnel. It will be bright near the opening, but the shading gets gradually darker the further in you go.
