It's called Strangers to Ourselves, and it's out March 3, the Modest Mouse fan site Interstate-8 reports. The news was reported via a fan's Twitter account, who received a test pressing of the recently teased single "Lampshades on Fire". It came accompanied with a note saying that the song would be released on Tuesday (December 16) and revealed the album's title and release date. (Check out a live performance of the single below.) The new album has been in the works for years. So far, there's no confirmation as to whether or not Big Boi and Krist Novoselic are involved as previously reported. The band have been playing new songs on the road, and even canceled a tour in 2013 to finish their album. Recently, the band reissued This Is a Long Drive for Someone With Nothing to Think About and The Lonesome Crowded West. I am so f*cking pumped! We haven't really had any new material in 5 years and not an actual album since 2007's phenomenal We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank (No One's First and You're Next was a collection of b-sides and whatnot). There's gotta be some other Modest Mouse fans lurking around here. Lampshades on Fire comes out Tuesday!!! Hope its more of the old fashioned sound from them I doubt it'll be Issac high on meth playing the guitar with his teeth or anything like lonesome crowded west or before, but I've loved and overplayed everything they've made since so I know as a MM fan this will rock my tits off an make drunken daze and drives to an from work that much more worth living for.
