raburs
A lot of you guys have been spamming other topics with pre-loading and downloading discussions... So i thought i'd create another thread to avoid unnecessary load on other topics.. ofcourse on request. So what do u think? Will pre-loading be allowed? If yes, then when? if no, then why not?.. and will Steam tackle the load? Personally i think that pre-loading will start a week before the release, that is 20th January 2015. And ofcourse u are free to discuss anything related to pre-loading and downloading here.. Now this topic is completely in contrast with "GTA V and Steam" Topic....that topic is for General Steam Discussion. Whereas, This topic is available for the discussion on Pre-loading and Downloading GTAV on the PC. Thnx. Nrezhel
Steam sometimes gets overloaded, with GTA V that will probably happen so they better open preloads a week before launch, at 1.5 MB/s it will take me about half a day for 50 GB but if there are many people downloading at the same time it may take days

Will Steam handle that much load? lets see.
r34ld34l
Steam will most likely have preload (if they will have preorder...), if not maybe there will be another means of "preloading"? raburs

reece251
I hope so, because I want to play GTA V as soon as its available. I recently downloaded Advanced Warfare MP because of the free weekend and that was 36gb and took 6 hours to download. GTA V is 50gb and I reckon it will probably take me around 8-9 hours to download it, so hopefully they will allow preloading for the Steam version. Guest
Let's hope we get preload, if not with my connection(6MB) it's going to take me a long time. I believe Titanfall(50GB download) took me about a full night and a couple hours more, let's say 12 hours total. So maybe with a 2 day preload it will be fine, I just want to play it as soon as I can. Although if Steam allows for a longer preload the servers will take less load and the download times will not be affected. PS: Thanks for creating this thread, I was getting tired of seeing lots of posts about this in GTA and Steam.
Xerukal
We don't have much to go on in regards to Rockstar's games on PC in particular, but as mentioned in the Steam thread, Max Payne 3 had a pre-load. So there's that. Rockstar has adopted pre-loading altogether on the Playstation platforms, as well. So it's safe to say we will indeed get one, based on the past events mentioned above. Well.. we dont know R* for sure..its hard to predict the preload duration and initiation.. maybe for a week or two. PS: Your Welcome. Yes, as far as I remember you could pre-load MP3 a day before release, but in this case, and seeing what they did on consoles, they will probably give us a week to pre-load it. El Dorado
Assuming it's 50GB, it will take me about 11 to 12 hours (Assuming the servers are ok, 10mb connection) Way quicker than 2 days from shipping a retail copy, but I don't know... still going with retail for now. The_Noble_One
It would take me ~ 3hours if i managed to download at full speed without any steam issues. 50GB / 37mbps (4.62MB/s) = 3.003003 hours. But then again i pre-ordered from amazon so i will be recieving a physical DVD. BS_BlackScout
MidnightMike
well right now I have a crappy 2mb speed connection so I hope they give us a week pre-download time so the servers will not bottleneck much and I can download it in time for day

UnknownNemesis
My ISP is from Google, They are launching Google Fiber in 1 city and i happen to live in that. they are slowly expaning to other parts of the states in the US and not everyone can get it. and offer 2 choices, either 5mbps down and 1 up for free or 1Gbps up and down for 70 Dollars a month, so its not that expensive as i payed 50 dollars before for stupid 15 down and 1 up. Nice, it will probably take decades (IF they bother...) to get Google Fiber here , meanwhile we will have to continue paying 500$ (70 dolars) for 12 MB
PhillBellic
I still prefer a physical copy, but I could see this game having some content that requires downloading via Steam. Antaxi
