GTA V is a living, breathing world. It makes you feel something.

Peds do quite a few things in V, driving, crashing, walking, smoking, taking selfies, using their phone, little things like scratching, sneezing, coughing.

Walking the dog, playing golf and tennis, some do yoga or tai chi, fishing, boating, sitting, dancing, swimming, jogging, running, talking, screaming, racing, sun bathing, crossing the road, parking cars, you see some in the clothes stores now and then browsing, doing hookers in discrete places, drinking and eating, dancing in their cars to the radio, fighting, gardening and waiting for a bus. Construction workers working, there's a guy in Vinewood who directs cars into a car park, homeless people warming their hands by the fire, being chased and murdered by the police. There may be more things.

All of them definitely help in making everything feel more alive.

That is the most ridiculous list...

Ridiculous but it's what people in the game do, so much more than standing and smoking.

I wish we could change the games time cycle to be real life seconds minutes hours etc, or maybe some middle ground, I just feel as though days and nights go by much too fast in game when I'm free roaming/exploring, it's be nice to actually spend a couple hours cruising in a nice car at night finding beautiful and empty roads to drive and drift on.

Great videos here though what a beautiful game.

Yep especially with the increased traffic, the days go by to quick in the game.

I agree, i am playing on a no mission file at the moment as Franklin, it feels really awesome tbh like you feel liberated and free to play the game however you want, and actually get immersed in the landscape and little tidbits the game has to offer.

Yeah, when the PC version comes out eventually I would like to put in some mods that open up the world for free roam and the characters from the start but don't have to play the story or do the single player missions and put in some mods to make the game more realistic, and try to turn it into a simulator.

R* are kings of Open Worlds and anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves.

Yes, they easily do the best jobs at it, it's just a shame that they had to put in over the top story and gameplay mechanics in this one.

Nice vids.

The whole map feels much more alive to me, not just the city.

Even seen animals hunting other animals.

I agree, it really does feel alive, to me.

One thing I'll say about the video is that so many of the angles are looking up, at buildings or at trees, that you don't really see much of the stuff on the ground - the, y'know, actual living breathing city stuff. Just my thought, though.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

I agree. Absolutely ridiculous amount of detail Rockstar has put into this ridiculously beautiful game.

Why?

IV felt more alive.

Sorry, but i disagree, GTA IV without mods was simply depressing and Niko has 0% charisma!

That is indeed a huge ass list. Can't say i have seen peds do all that stuff, but that is quite cool. I guess that makes the WD versus GTA V peds video a bit unfair, cause it clearly showed peds doing a lot of stuff in WD, and very little in GTA V.

Yep, all those things happen. You just have to take time out to observe them doing it.

GTA really is the king of open world games. You could say Rockstargames are, with Read Dead.

GTA V tried to be too damn realistic and ended up taking after more of L.A noire than it did San Andreas.. however facts and numbers do not lie the game sold very well.. but we as the fans know that GTA V could have been better if they had focused more on actual game content and less about their hollywood budget.

Awesome video, and I'm amazed every day with the stuff that I discover for the first time. It all feels so perfect and fluid. I ran into a couple mariachi band members the other day somewhere outside a market out in the country. I got too close to them trying to take a picture and they started to fight so I ran. I spent about ten minutes running all over the desert and mountains being chased by these mariachi guys until one sadly got ran over by a Lost member while crossing the street to chase me. Lol

Someone may tell you IV was more alive.

I like it.

Not saying V isn't alive, but...

Yeah, IV was more alive :D.

What makes it feels so real is that it is dynamic. Hardly anything is scripted. If a guy was chasing you and he got run over, it was because of himself and the driver

I think a lot of people that say it's not full of life are speeding through the world and not just standing and taking it in. If you pull your car over and sit at the side of the road for a little while, you'll see tons going on.

Even more so on CG, of course. Some of the RTAs I've seen have been amazing, with loads of cars and peds getting involved. Masses of vehicles exploding, without any input from me. Just some angry drivers and patience.

Signatures are dumb anyway.

V, like all GTA games, felt more alive in the first couple months. After a while you get used to what you see and it doesn't feel like that anymore. If R* were to focus more on peds and make each one feel unique it would be better. As of now most seem like robots. I hear the same handful of voices over and over, and the other day I heard the same "f*ck off" from three drivers in a row. Its even weirder when you honk at a car and the ped has one voice, then you go back to them and they have another voice. Sometimes they completely change bodies if you let them get far enough away.

I want to see the city have live. I want to follow cars in the morning and see as they pull into a parking lot and enter their place of work, even if we can't enter the building, it would be cool to see peds scripted to walk in and out. I want to see garbage trucks picking up garbage on a specific day. I want there to be different road work all the time from repaving, to patching, to fixing street lights, etc. Obviously I know it is not something R* can do at this time but I hope they attempt it for future GTA games. The best way to make a game feel alive is to make peds live out their daily lives.

The time lapse video only shows cars flying by and pedestrians passing you. Watch a time lapse video of GTA III-San Andreas, they're practically the same.
Not living, not breathing, it's just a video game in fast forward.

My opinion, don't judge.

I'm a fan since I played VC nine years back and I know that V is the best game in the series IMO, so speak for yourself man.
