Maybe off topic but....

@Dest

You can use the Spoiler tabs by typing in [spoiler.] at the very beginning of the text and

at the end of somebody's quote (after the "") so that the entire thing will be inside the spoiler tab. Thus it wouldn't appear until you click on it.

I do this all the time. Works 100% unless you ruined something. Obviously remove the dot shown at the first spoiler tab.

It depends on the mission, but if I plan to run over and get my buzzard I will not let you in my car. As a matter of fact, if you happen to jump in because I had my settings different i will pull over and kick your ass out. No way am i trusting some random person not to grab the controls of the rockets.

Other times it's just down to my mood. I typically wait around and offer a lift if needed.

I see this is as a minor issue since everyone should have a car. For people like the op who don't want to dirty their personal rides for some reason, all I can say is you have two thumbs and two feet, use them.

What about idiots who start up a basic mission on the complete opposite side of the map? Now that pisses me off.

I don't mind when a mission starts far away. Usually means I can get there and do the mission before anyone else turns up.

Not every player always has their own vehicle in use during the game either.

Call your mechanic.
Takes the same amount of time as sending a message to tell players their vehicle is unlocked... By which time everyone else is halfway to the start...

I always lock mine cuz some asshole who shows up in his slow as sh*t car always wants to take my infernus or zentorno. Also to op. Ur prize cars they have insurance yes. Who cares about driving em in free mode

Because I'd rather be able to drive around as and when I want instead of collection my vehicles from the insurance place every five minutes...?

Every five minutes? Who the hell loses their car that often? and who cares if you have to wait for your car to be delivered. The reward for the job goes up the longer you take to complete it anyways. Might as well take your time.

People driving a ratloader as a pv are more worthy of respect than every prk driving a super or sports.

So with a couple of exceptions the general consensus seems to race off on your own and not care about other players then? REALLY? I mean, to reiterate and repeat... if you have started a job WITH OTHER PLAYERS and you are doing a job AS PART OF A TEAM then what is the point in just racing off ON YOUR OWN and leaving anyone else behind...? I mean... HELLO?! There's a whole team camaraderie about being part of something that makes driving to mission starts and checkpoints and completing it together more enjoyable. Sigh...

And people realise that you can set your vehicle access to PASSENGERS and nobody else will be able to drive it except you, right...?

Normally, I am easy going. However when this one happens, I get really annoyed.

I will give rides to all unless A) I am getting a buzzard and then I'm not giving someone a chance to jack my chopper or B) after someone is in my passenger seat they are throwing sticky bombs and shooting MPCs just to be a nuisance while we're enroute.

By default access is passengers only. If someone asks for access while I'm away from the car in a mission, I'll gladly unlock it to help the mission.

Others steal my Pegasus Buzzard after I took them to the drop off point.\

So if I drive off with my locked car Im a douchebag? If i dont want anyone in my car, and someone is too lazy to jack one, im a douchebag? It shouldnt matter if it is a mission. If the guy who did the most work got the most reward, I would understand. But it does not work that way. This thread alone shows how ignorant people can be. Forum basically runs on a thesis of "if you dont do it my way youre a douchebag."

P.S i see the logic, but people need to understand it is ultimately the drivers choice. I do let people in, but as passenger because 90% of people that get in my car as a driver drive off without me.

not at all man. the general consensus seems to be "bring a car with you then dependant on mission requirements use it or don't."

the game almost exclusively involves driving and / or shooting. how would you react if i drove you to the objective (as you wish) then refused to get out of the car mumbling some nonsense about "i'm a driver, you've got 5 minutes then i'm away."?

in the scheme of mission trolls and nerdowells is having to drive yourself that much of an imposition? just drive your car mate, they're fun.

Even if I did race off to the first checkpoint, I wait for the others. Also most of the time the others have their cars with them anyway. Also like I said most of the time I drive my bikes around. I'm not gonna run the risk crashing somebody and killing them by mistake or even worse, killing us both.

Do I look like your chauffeur OP? Would you like me to drop you a few rifles and some sticky bombs too?

In fact let me get that door for you. You are the light of the world for showing me the error of my ways, Can I purchase you a hooker?

Never trust people, not even in missions, use your own goddamn car, or is it that you're too lazy to drive? DUUUUUUDE, you're asking to be ran over.

Players who have their cars set to "No One" annoy me as much as players who have their chat settings to Friends and Crew.

At least when I kill a player with their chat not set to everyone, I can explain to them why I killed them in the 2 seconds afterwards.

BOOM
"Your chat settings annoy me"

This response has me doubting whether you're even old enough to call me a kid. It might even imply you're so young you should address me with "sir". Respond with a sensible argument or don't respond at all.

wow.. all this hate on the OP cause he wants a ride? get your heads out your ass! not everyone takes a PV in a mission (think starting up gtav from menu).. this puts you in a random mission w/o a car.. so why not give them a ride to the SAME LOCATION that your heading to?

ill pick anyone up in need of a ride UNLESS im grabbing a buzzard(auto aim > manual aim by randoms)

chat set to EVERYONE

cars set to PASSENGERS

cars set to EVERYONE (if i know you or if weve been grinding awhile)

whats the point of leaving a member behind? what ifthey have no rides? what if they too low of a level to afford one? F*CK all you selfish bastards who honks the horn (for you to get in..) only to leave cause you have no access.

I'm sure we've all experienced this at some point. A number of players spawn in a location at the beginning of a job and are unable to enter another players' vehicle because they either race off on their own or have locked their vehicle. It's especially galling when they honk honk honk their horn to offer you a ride but they haven't figured out they can set the vehicle preference option to be unlocked for passengers...

WHY?!?

I mean... Jobs demanding multiple players are obviously easier WITH everyone working together, not a lone wolf maverick doing it alone! And if they wanted that why the hell would they join a job with other players anyway?!

And if they honk their horn to offer you a ride and their vehicle is locked down it's their fault, not mine! The time it takes to open up a message and type 'Vehicle is locked!!!' and send it the other players are halfway to the mission start and it's quicker to just boost a random vehicle on the road and make your own way there!

Not every player always has their own vehicle in use during the game either. I usually start jobs first when heading online for a few sessions, plus the odds of having your own vehicle getting trashed by some random session twat are fairly high so I rarely take my prized vehicles out of my garage.

Rule of thumb; if you WANT to take other players along with you to a job, make sure you understand how to operate your damn vehicle preferences!

Not having your own car sounds like a personal problem. Its my car, I dont have to offer you a ride because you dont have your own.

I usually pick up other players, bot not when I want to listen a good song on the radio. It's almost rare to hear Danger Zone on the radio, so if I hear it, I'm driving right to the objective with no regard for human life. (;

Also, on a bike like the Hakachou, having somebody on the back slows the bike down really bad...

Why would you unlock your personal vehicle? Randoms don't wipe their feet before they get in. Do you really want randoms trailing dog turds into your PV?

So what if randoms drive off and leave you behind? Just chill and get some free money and RP.

I honk and then pull away when people get close to my car. My own crew doesn't even bother trying to ride with me anymore.

I used to say the same thing and honestly? I don't wanna ride with anyone, anyway.

Most of the people can't drive as well as I can (or let's say consistent)

I just get frustrated to sh*t watching them smack everything before we get there. Ruining my immersion and experience.

I can't get jiggy with this fool running down every light like it's a sport before we get there. I learned my lesson sponging rides when I shoulda had my own f*cking PV.

Noobs didn't play the tutorial properly... Or skipped it because they already played it You have the option to insure a street car for free when you hit level 4. Plenty of good cars around the city to take, or if you still have the car from the first race, use that. Me? I insured a Tailgater on my new character when I chose to redo the tutorial. Easy way to get through the first 5 levels without being a liability to anybody. :p

I usually ride a bike and don't want some fatass slowing it down. I lock my cars too, because players like to hop into mine and drive off.

If you're anywhere near rank 200 or above, I expect you to be prepared when you show up in a mission with me.

If you took the invite before taking your car out, then just request it from your mechanic.

I lock my vehicle because many players will get in your car and drive off without even offering you a ride.

I tried being a nice lady, but the gta player base is majority bad apples.

In order to be correct, you need sound reasoning to support your argument. You got nothing but "they don't wipe their feet before getting in".

Acting like this towards others, without a valid reason by definition makes you a douchebag. If you want to be a douchebag, that's fine. Just don't go around claiming you're NOT a douchebag, like the other guy. You're douchebags for leaving teammates behind for no good reason

Hell, even when I unlocked passenger seat, they would still get out and shoot my car because they can't drive it away.

Are you not aware that players can't damage PVs during missions?

I don't usually offer rides because I'll be heading to get my buzzard or occasionally a possible tank on Chemical Extraction, I would offer heli rides but you can't lock player 2 missiles, and some random jackass 98% of the time is bound to take the manual rocket despite the pilots auto aim rockets being being twice as fast and generally more effective. So I just don't offer rides so I can go to my heli alone.
