Hello, and welcome to my workshop! In this topic I'll be focusing on what are mainly fixes, model hacks, improvements, and overall random assorted junk for various GTA titles. The games I'm tweaking will only be III and Vice City at the moment as my San Andreas disc isn't working, and I doubt it'd play on this laptop anyway. Without further ado...

The Cabby

A cab inspired by the vehicle of the same name found in GTA IV. More info, screenshots, and a download link can be found on the mod page:

Beta Claude

Replaces the player model with one based off the model used in the intro. Includes player, prison, and cutscene head models. Probably has been done a ton of times before but I couldn't find it myself, so I figured I'd whip one up that delivers on all fronts. More info, screenshots, and a download link at the mod page:

Improved Player Model

Brings Claude's appearance up to par with the rest of the characters in-game by borrowing bits and pieces from them. He now has separate fingers, modeled eyes (and eyelids), higher-poly ears, a higher poly face, higher quality and bug-free shoes, and a proper texture on his soles. Includes cutscene head, prison, intro, and normal player models, as well as an updated player 2 skin. More info, screenshots, and a download link at the mod page:

III-style choppers for III Aircraft (GTA 3):

The plan with this one is that I'm going to basically refurbish all the heli models in III (all two of them) then have them replace the choppers used in the mod III Aircraft. Very WIP at the moment. One model is about 90% done, with a beta test here:

Nice work!
About the hands, you can move the hands, import the model again (don't delete the model with the moved hands), delete every part from the imported ped except the hands, select all vertex of the imported hands (ctrl + a) then attach them on the edited hands. After that, press the delete button, then you know what to do. ;)
This is how I do, if the changes on ped parts (like moving, rotating and resizing) aren't applying in-game. :)

Oh yeah, talking about the Colombians, Catalina has a special head in her .dff aswell (it is BETA). The cutscene head is different than the gameplay one.

edit: I'll take a look at Catalina, sounds interesting. if you're wondering what happened with my head rig it has something to do with scaling the bones, which I did to make it easier to rig.

looks good in Max though. same thing happened with a rig I tried to do for my improved claude, though I later found out that rockstar left NOTHING over in terms of facial animation for him so it's all good

Nice work here. I didn't know you did mods. I'm loving that improved Claude model. I always hated how he was lower-poly than the rest of the characters.

heh, I'm actually a fan of the car mods you've been doing (even if I can't use most of them) so it's great to hear some kind words on my own content :D

I've decided that some issues really need looking at so he's all good for a release, namely textures not lining up on his shoes (thanks rockstar), and his still-blocky head. I've touched the chin and nose up with mesh smooth and he's really starting to compare to his friend Donald on the right. still keeping under his amount of tris too, which is good since I'm thinking about splitting the end of his hair from the back of his head

 

anyway some content for VC should be rearing its head soon, strange that the game I'm not even playing is getting all of my attention

 

EDIT: model's just about done, at least the main outfit is. will be showing in-game in a minute... screw it, releasing now

I blame it on the aimless stare and thumb clipping into his hand. :p also, thanks!

 

I found out why the columbian came out all stupid-looking. turns out I rigged his head to "headbone" instead of "target1," which the game doesn't use. either that or it DOES use it, just to disastrous effects. with this in mind I'm gonna rerig it then see if there's any problems with the beta catalina head I also did

 

one other thought: improved claude v2. I'm gonna try rigging the head for facial animation then reusing animation from another character for all of his cutscene stuff. anyone know a mission where someone blinks a-lot?

been beating around the bush as of late, but (excuse the bugs)...

added windows to all the doors and cut out a rear sliding door for the police version. as you can see there's colors and reflections too, so I'd like some comments and crits on that. too much yes/no?

happy belated holidays, everyone! some vice city mods have snuck their way into the op a few hours back, meanwhile...

I've been tinkering away with this beast and I think it's safe to say a release is near! how about a beta test (be warned, it replaces the whole img file)? only the "maverick" (I don't know how III aircraft handles names) is done for now, but the other copters should be easy. some stuff I want to change:

  • fix the geometry so it handles reflections better
  • make a collision model
  • see if 2dfx lights can be slapped onto it like the solid stone copters around the map

also, teasers for another mod I want to do:

I've just checked your workshop, and I gotta say: I'm amazed. I didn't know I'll dig out such a gold mine here, haha! Looking at the icons... VC Beta icons? I was trying to remake them too, I made the Steyr AUG one day, because it was my favorite weapon from the beta. Heck I even made Aztecas_5 Aug for MVL, along with his Silenced MAC-10.

first of all, thank you! I need to advertise more...

 

second of all, right on the money! I actually saw that mod and wanted to make my pack for MVL but it's too convoluted to even bother with for me, so it's just going to be ordinary replacements. I got my own method of making icons, doesn't turn out so good though if the model isn't detailed enough:

I tried doing something like this a while back on my old account but the plans sort-of fell apart. on the bright side I was looking through some sites and learned that the old nailgun icon I made was good enough to get lifted by russians, so that's a confidence booster :p

I nearly spit out my drink when I saw Timmy. I never thought that he would eventually make it into VC. You just need "Dick Tanner" and you've got it all, hahah (can't remember if Dick has a custom model or if it's just a generic ped model though...). Awesome work as always, Jago. I hope your holidays were happy! :)

Dick had just a normal PIG model. However, there are two PIG models that look identical, so replacing one shouldn't cause no big problems :p

oh they were, I got to chill for a few days and hang out with the grandparents and them up north. let me tell you, being a mexican-american has its perks. best cherry pie and carne asada all in one place, I could've died up there man! also grandpa showed me how to drive on the freeway like a real man, so that was good

 

about dick tanner... I still have a ton of ideas in my head and I like to keep modding projects rotating to stave off boredom, so definitely maybe. it'll probably get backseated to mods that I'm actually allowed to release though :p

 

EDIT:

 

I'm currently sifting through my project folders and thinking about what people would want to download, then I scrolled up again and saw how many likes the train post got... I should probably do something with that
