Lockpicking

Jerking For Soup

I was playing SP today and was Franklin. I realised he can instead of smashing the window to a locked car, he lockpicks it faster than any character does. Does anyone wish this ability would work online? Like say you could buy some lockpicks in Ammunation and pick locks really fast.

Most Online characters (or actually the people who control them really) aren't that bright so that's why they just smash the window like a gorilla. :sigh:

Alright, alright... Yes, it annoys me a little bit from time to time, so I wouldn't mind a feature like this.

Makes no difference to me.

I'm either taking the car to LSC or driving it off a cliff so one smashed window doesn't matter.

One less animation online for Rockstar/their servers to worry about is probably for the better.

Yes, I would love this feature as it would avoid me paying $100 to $300 for the mechanic to fix the window.

Absolutely. I get tired of the smash and grab approach and a little flair would be a nice change of pace.

Would be cool if it didn't set off the police automatically as well.

Its called a slim jim, police and repomen use them to unlock doors by pushing the lock out of place. Itd be cool to buy for 20k I suppose.

I can pick locks online, I just use my gun and don't accomplish much more than a wanted level.

I'd rather they bring in the animation of you car jacking a NPC with a gun instead of just throwing them out of the car.

As apposed to all the times I steal a car from ghost because it seems npcs are invisible and cars are Christine's or

I steal a car by throwing the npc out only to just do the animation and not actually get in

R* needs to fix its sh*t before anything more

Off topic but I also like Michael's steal car animation (the one when he opens the door and the NPC just falls out of the car)

How about both. Nothing like smacking a punk with a rifle butt then flipping him onto the pavement.

Yeah I would like it, as long as it has no similarity to the Skyrim lock picking. Hated that sh*t.

F*ck waiting for that animation, I just run up and kick a car on the side (which breaks most of the windows on that side) and just get it. It sure feels quicker!

It would be cool to by a slimjim and select it from you inventory before using it on a car but 20k? Seems a little steep.

But I would only really want this option if it came with the ability to use it on parked player vehicles (even locked one) and sell them to simeon or to the impound or something. I think in general gtao lacks interaction with pvs. I'd love to repo someones chrome adder and deliver to the impound for a percentage payout.

That's an awesome idea. And yes a slim jim for 20k seems about right. :r*:

Just out of interest why did you hate it? I thought it took a bit of skill. The Oblivion system on the other hand made me create a few new curses.

I think it should be unlocked with either the stealth or driving skill. Once you level either of them up to a certain point, your character will be able to sneakily open the door.

Normally I just shoot a hole in the driver's window my AP pistol though.

When your skill isn't leveled up it was a bitch. After that it was alright.

Ot: An animation like that would be alright in missions, obviously not so well in free roam.

It's funny, as I actually liked oblivions system. But i actually hated the skeleton key's 40 point increase buff to lockpicking (I always have it as a major perk, as a filler of sorts for leveling overtime. I never once boosted a stat on oblivion :)) cause it made it to easy :/

Fallout a system however was good to a degree, the hard locks were an actual challenge, but the first 3 difficultly locks always had 1 to 5 set positions the softspot was in, and for someone like me who has them unwillingly mesmerised, it's just to easy a system :(

Skyrim is just the same as fallout, but with weaker lock picks and smaller soft spots (but then again I never ran any perks on lock picking, so it could be made very easy within just 2 or 3 perk points being spent on it), making it perfect in my opinion and I'm hoping the next fallout that we all know is in full development will incorporate it.

Anyway on topic: lockpicks would be a nice feature sure, but are they necessary? True the Benjamin note I could save on that window replacement in LSC could be handy, but would it actually be so easy for R* to incorperate the necessary animations into the already "strained" servers?

But if it does come, I'd deffinately be happy with a mafia 2 mini game :D (by the way, did you all know mafia 3 is in pre alpha stages right now? Scripts for casting calls and a possible setting (Louisiana state I belive) have been leaked? Oh I can't wait till next E3 for all the possible non UBISOFT announcements)

I'd be happy with a system that didn't incorporate a mini game of any sort but gave you the option to break into a car cleanly at the cost of taking a fair bit longer. Those extra seconds in free roam can be all important so should fulfill the whole risk/reward thing.

It's been a while but was the lonesome drifter a random guy who had a unique revolver? I think I remember killing him for his gun but always having a nagging feeling of guilt. I'm fine with patiently waiting without any news but Fallout 4 is my most anticipated game in a long time. You know it's going to be brilliant.

Well at this point both hacking and cracking safes are pretty lame. Something a bit more challenging is welcome.

I wish stealth or driving affected how fast we break into cars and hotwire them. Low stealth or driving skills results in a longer break-in process like Trevor's, a mid range skill level takes less time like Michael, and a maxed skill level slim jims the window and almost instantly hotwires like Franklin. It'd give more uses to the stealth skill, that's for sure.

Mafia 2 such an amazing game.

Auto bodies use to use them too. Very common locking keys in a car.

Off topic. There i a mafia 3 in early stages whaaaaa? I thought they said there wasnt gonna be another

I'd love to be able to lock pick parked cars rather than smash the window. I can't see why our online characters can't do this, I'm sure by now they would be able to given the amount of criminal activity they get up to!

I'd be happy enough for a lock pick to be available for purchase at ammunation, perhaps a level unlock item? Or maybe something that unlocks after you have delivered a certain number of cars for Simeon. Whatever, it would be a nice addition.
